Why aren't M Factor listed separately? Were they just 187 Lockdown under a different name? Even so, if they charted 'Mother' and 'Come Together' as M Factor, shouldn't they be listed as M Factor for those entries?

Sorry I didn't get around to posting last week, as compensation it's a double batch this week.

I've not got time to pick out many artists right now, but will get to it tomorrow. Suffice it to say that Madonna is in this group.

Ooh! Glad to see two weeks' worth of these!

For Bruno Mars, 'Uptown Funk' should have a $ for being a US number-one.

"Songwriter" misspelt in M's biog.

Lutricia McNeal's 4th hit was The Greatest Love You'll Never Know.

Tom McRae's hit was Karaoke Soul.

Michelle McManus's hits were credited to Michelle (there was a different artist with this name who also charted).

Chas Smash's real name is Cathal Smyth.

Trinidadian is misspelt in Magic Numbers' biog.

Magnetic Man's biog should mention Skream's solo hit.

Manic Street Preachers' June 2001 hit was Ocean Spray.

Should not be a comma in Manfred Lubowitz (in both biogs). Also there should be a reference to Paul Jones' solo hits.

Should be Semi-Detached Suburban Mr James.

"become" in Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch's biog should be 1 word.

Peter Tosh's d.o.d. (11/9/87) should perhaps be included.

Damian JR Gong Marley's hit Beautiful is mis-spelt.

M/A/R/R/S's listed B-side was Anitina (The First Time I See She Dance).

Inertiatic ESP is mis-spelt.

Lena Martell should be listed as British for consistency.

Marvin & Tamara are male/female.

Great stuff as usual, though!

Don McLean has one of the oddest chart histories - two number ones (eight years apart), a number two, two minor hits and that's it.

Steve Nieve (Madness) was one of Elvis Costello's Attractions.

The Virgin book lists Manfred Mann and Manfred Mann's Earthband together and under MANF rather than MANN. I would be inclined to agree with them. In any event, Manfred Mann's real name was Manfred Lubowitz, so there should be no comma. It is, perhaps, worth noting that the vocalists were Paul Jones (up to 1966) and Mike d'Abo (1966 onwards). Also, note the lower case D in d'Abo.

For what it's worth, I personally would have kept the two separate, but I would alphabetise them under MANF as it's a group name. I can see the arguments either way though.

I also agree about the comma and Paul Jones' solo hits. Also Jack Bruce is misspelt and he should be linked to his appearances with Cream and BBM. Tom McGuinness was in McGuinness Flint.

On a related note, Steve Nieve was involved with The Madness, a spin-off act who could have been listed separately though I know this would be tricky in this particular format.

More M notes to follow.

More notes as threatened/pormised:

MC SKAT KAT - Should he be linked to Paula Abdul?

MOP - Stands for "Mashed Out Posse"

MAC BAND - Stands for "Men After Christ"

PAUL McCARTNEY - his birth name was James Paul McCartney

KIRSTY MacCOLL - was the aunt of Jamie MacColl from Bombay Bike Club, half-sister of Neill MacColl from The Bible [i know this has cropped up in another thread recently]

IAN McCULLOCH - was also a member of Electrafixion

Correct title of his last hit is 'Sliding' [the album was called Slideling]

JANE McDONALD - First rose to fame in the documentary series The Cruise, hence the title of her hit

'Cruise Into Christmas' is a medley:

IAN McNABB - Correct song title is 'You Must Be Prepared To Dream'

Ralph Molina & Billy Talbot were members of Neil Young's band Crazy Horse.

MACEO & THE MACS - Maceo Parker is possibly better known for his work as a member of James Brown's band

MADHOUSE - Also written Mad'House

MADNESS - Correct title is 'The Harder They Come'

'Drip Fed Fred' features Ian Dury

MAGAZINE - Barry Adamson also played with Visage and later joined Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. He had two Top 100 singles as a solo artist.

GARETH MALONE - Mel Giedroyc is listed twice

MANIC STREET PREACHERS - Richey Edwards is credited as Richey James on releases while he was still in the band. His full name was/is Richard James Edwards. Nicky Wire's real name is Nicholas Jones

The 1992 and 1997 entries of 'You Love Us' are a re-recording with lyrical and musical variations. Personally, I'd have listed them separately.

'Repeat' was also listed on the original 1991 entry of 'Love's Sweet Exile'

'Theme From M*A*S*H' has the subtitle '(Suicide Is Painless)'

'Little Baby Nothing' features Traci Lords on vocals, though she wasn't credited on the chart.

MANSUN - 'Grey Lantern' is mis-spelt in the listing for Six EP.

Personally, I would be reluctant to count releases from Three EP onwards as EPs, since they were on multiple formats with only one common track, but that's a matter of opinion.

MARION - Phil Cunningham is now a member of New Order, appears on records from 2005 onwards. He was also in Bad Lieutenant, who never appeared in the singles chart.

MARS VOLTA - Cedric B-Z and Omar R-L were previously members of At The Drive-In.

MARVIN - Technically I don't think the character is supposed to be British, or from this planet at all. Stephen Moore is of course British though.

Great work, thanks :)
