August 28, 20177 yr *stalls at a Q streak of 5 for a third time*Okay I take it back what you sent is gonna do well It sounds like old school Armand Van Helden except not as fast
August 28, 20177 yr Author BJSC 98 Moth Equals - 'Jiv' sqWJ_6j1TNA The BJSC 98 semis have just been announced in Quintessa so our post-veto entry is now out there! We decided to plump for 'Jiv' (or 'जीव') by Moth Equals as our 25th entry to the contest. He is a producer from the UK who specialises in 'electronic music with a lean towards a darker mood'. 'Jiv' is a crossover between the genres of trip-hop and Bollywood and it's a damn good crossover at that. I adore the dreamy Massive Attack-esque vibes of the song and the Bollywood influences take this sound and make it unique. Moth Equals was previously sent to Unknown Pleasures with 'Cordiform' but this is his debut in BJSC! We hope you guys enjoy 'Jiv', it has been drawn FIRST in semi one! Keeping our fingers crossed that we don't stall on a qualifying streak of 5 for the fourth time. P.s. the artwork for the accompanying EP 'One Tusk' that 'Jiv' is from is what the teaser was, isn't it just magnificent *.* http://i.imgur.com/54C3DXI.jpg ~~~ Okay I take it back what you sent is gonna do well It sounds like old school Armand Van Helden except not as fast Ooh some hype already!! So glad this sounds like something that will do well to your ears, I really hope so. *fingers crossed* Can't say I saw that comparison but I love me some Armand so slay~
August 28, 20177 yr I recognized this from the teaser, kinda :P I completely expected it to be 'Cordiform' and I knew that was in Unknown Pleasures but I think people are allowed to send songs from there to BJSC if they didn't do amazingly in UP ~ I can't remember how well that did though! I've yet to listen to this particular one but I did like 'Cordiform'!

I've yet to listen to this particular one but I did like 'Cordiform'! Slay! I suppose it is the kind of artwork that would stick with you if you'd seen it before *.* Haha not quite, I do think 'Cordiform' is a brilliant song as well but this one edges it for me, I cannot get enough of the chilled vibes ~ there's just such a replayability factor about it <3 You liking 'Cordiform' is a good sign anyway, hope you'll be a fan of this especially as we're in the same semi!
August 29, 20177 yr As I said when you played this on plug a couple of months ago this is once again you completely unknowingly picking out one of the artists I gave top points to in Unknown Pleasures  following the same thing happening with MssingNo, and I also gave high points in UP to HÆLOS. Sixth sense tbh ~ Looking forward to hearing this again, I don't remember much of it from that one time I heard it before but I do know I liked it a lot since I encouraged you to bring it back as a potential :P (this should be the last time for a while I actually know your entry before the contest, back to mutual secrecy for 99 xxx)

'Cordiform' and 'Xe2' are both brilliant top pointers from you anyway <3 and I need to hear that HÆLOS song/check out more of them in general! (when I interviewed my local record store about record store day, I noticed they had a copy of HÆLOS' 'Full Circle' on vinyl but they haven't had it every time I've been back! Wish I'd bought it then and there x). Sixth sense indeed *.* Hope it sounds as good if not better to your ears second time round! Sooo glad you encouraged me to send it because I'm loving it now way more than I did when I found it. Looking forward to hearing your song also *.* (and haha yes very much back to secrecy next month, I have no clue myself what I'll even be sending yet x)
September 4, 20177 yr Author Moth Equals break our 5 Q-streak curse at last! Tonight it was announced in Quintessa that we have QUALIFIED for the final of BJSC 98 with Bollyhop bop 'Jiv' by Moth Equals! We are so chuffed as this means we have achieved 6 qualifiers in a row for the first time (following aYia [93], BÖ [94], Hugar feat. Arnór Dan [95], King Plague [96] and MONOMOTION [97] all qualifying) ~ we stalled at a qualifying streak of 5 twice in the past so hallelujah for finally bucking that. Thank you to everyone who voted for us in semi 1! Our slot in the final has been chosen as 11th. We had a pretty great night as rather shockingly our top 5 of semi 1 all qualified, as well as us. However, we did lose a few of our votes. The Jadakissnian dream of synths meets Spanish occurred in South Danaelanda's wonderful entry 'Tu Conmigo' by Vitalic featuring La Bien Querida. We gave this one 5 points but sadly it DNQed in 24th, not quite replicating the success of 'Waiting For The Stars'. Our 3 points went to new favourite Aesthetica entry 'Anck Su Namum' by YEZI, quite the foreign banger. This one sadly finished in just 27th. Lastly, no strangers to the near miss Ultraviolenceland did it again and finished in 21st with guitar anthem 'Play' by Marmozets. This was our 2 pointer.
September 4, 20177 yr Author Congrats Jade, love your entry this month  Thanks Addy! glad you're back on board now after last month *.*
September 12, 20177 yr Author BJSC 98 Results Moth Equals - 'Jiv' Last night the results of BJSC 98 unfolded in the nation of Quintessa. It was announced that our bollyhop entry 'Jiv' by Moth Equals finish in 27th place with 165 points. This makes 'Jiv' our worst performing finalist of the year so far. We were fairly disappointed with this position because we were as high as 5th at one point, so like last month we witnessed a heartbreaking fall once again. But we're slowly getting used to what this feels like so hopefully we won't feel as disappointed next month. On the bright side, our worst performing finalist in 2015 finished in 36th (M+A's 'When') and in 2016 it was 35th (VHS Glitch's 'Blood In Blood Out'). So at least we're doing a little better than that. Our main objective this month was to qualify so we could gain a qualifying streak of 6 for the first time, so at least we achieved that. It was also revealed that we underperformed by 10 places from our semi projection. In the semi we managed to finish as high as 9th (next to Persephonia and all *.*) with 77 points, so at least we improved on last month in the semi. This was the first time in a while where we received 0 18s, but we did receive a 15 from FSR Rontvia and 13s from D'yermak'er and Espen. Medhelnia were victorious for the very first time this edition with Clare Maguire's 'Elizabeth Taylor (Mulholland Edition)'. They did it in style as well with a landslide victory of 454 points! Not too far off breaking the all-time points record from BJSC 76. We didn't quite vote for this song but it was a commiseration so we did like it. Congrats Medhelnia! As for our own favourite this time... the 11th place curse is finally broken *.* Our 18 went to Kluminican Republic for the first time with their 9 minute beauty 'Innerbloom' by RÜFÜS and they smashed it all the way to 5th place! This is now the most successful entry of the year that we have awarded an 18 to, surpassing the 9th place of Summericia's 'still goin' by CRIM3S in BJSC 91. Our 15 then went to Buzzjack Mountain who we had never pointed in the final prior to now! Their moody offering of 'Tension' by CENTVRIES kept growing and growing and also fared well with the BJSC masses, finishing in 16th. Finally our 13 went to the host nation Quintessa with their gorgeous AQ 'Heaven' by Ashmute. Shockingly this was the worst performing auto-qualifier of the two and finished in 41st. Boo. Thanks to the following for voting for us this month: Quintessa, South Danaelanda, Aelandor, Hendinia, Helgon, D’yermak’er, Skall, Dobago, Cumulonimbia, Land of DW, Deandria, Espen, FARC, Cor Lupus, East Rukahavian, Rolloland, Kylienips, Bøtanikka, Aeroche, FSR Rontvia, Cowtermont, Persephonia, Terra Avium + Pupok. POINTS GIVEN + RECEIVED UPDATE GIVEN 01) 239 Persephonia 02) 148 Terra Avium 03) 130 Trifoski 04) 97 Singerpurear 05) 95 N DNTN 06) 91 Espen 07) 89 Quintessa 08) 82 Fljótavík 09) 80 Bøtanikkä 10) 75 Séyetana RECEIVED 01) 235 Persephonia 02) 194 Terra Avium 03) 159 Espen 04) 123 Deandria 05) 119 Quintessa 06) 118 Aeroche 07) 117 Suedeonia 08) 113 Kylienips 09) 111 Land of DW 10) 97 Skall See you guys for BJSC 99 with some ethnic pop x
September 12, 20177 yr Such a great entry <3 Haunting but infectious sounds, shame it couldn't finish top 20 but I'm glad it made the final.
September 12, 20177 yr Author Such a great entry <3 Haunting but infectious sounds, shame it couldn't finish top 20 but I'm glad it made the final. I'm so pleased that you liked it so much, Rich! Yeah it would've been nice to have done a little better but indeed at least it qualified, especially as so many people entered this edition. Thank you for giving 'Jiv' the highest points that it received in the final.
September 12, 20177 yr Ethnic pop :cheeseblock: x Aww at this not doing as well as you hoped it would but still glad that you brought it to the contest anyway!
September 12, 20177 yr Author Ethnic pop :cheeseblock: x Aww at this not doing as well as you hoped it would but still glad that you brought it to the contest anyway! Indeed *.* 'Rıyzamın'/'PreGomesh' vibes coming to a contest near you soon. I didn't expect it to light up the contest or anything but as I said, I did hope it would at least match 'Beautiful Crime's 21st, so it was a shame that didn't quite happen. Glad it proved to be a worthwhile discovery for you and others anyway <3
September 24, 20177 yr Author BJSC 99 Zhanar Dugalova - Izin Korem aQDbHKFbK0M Jadakissnia's pophoe moment of 2017 has arrived with our latest entry courtesy of Zhanar Dugalova. She is a former member of Kesh You who were sent by New Lexico in 2015. This song is in a similar vein to that one as you'd expect, as another catchy ethnic pop explosion. But this one also has a guy randomly playing a stringed instrument towards the end of the song. What more could you want. Zhanar marks a new nationality for us as she is from Kazakhstan. This song is indeed in the Kazakh language too. We follow up our last major pophoe moment of Sonia y Selena with another one that has a bit of a Eurovision connection, but a bit more loosely than 'Yo Quiero Bailar' - as this song was the winning entry for the Turkvision Song Contest in 2014. We hope you enjoy this fun switch-up from us this month! We have been drawn as the sixth song in semi 2. A third Jadakissnia recycle has also happened this contest *.* Medhelnia have sent CHVRN who remixed our 82 entry 'WVFFLIFE' by BLVCK CEILING. This marks the second time the nation have recycled us after also re-using MssingNo.
October 1, 20177 yr Author Zhanar Dugalova izin the BJSC 99 final! bringing you good news and bad puns Tonight it was announced in Medhelnia that we qualified for the BJSC 99 final with 'Izin Korem' by Zhanar Dugalova! This extends our longest qualifying streak ever to 7. We are over the moon that the people of semi 2 rallied behind our ethnic pop song and we look forward to seeing how we perform in the final, where we have been drawn in slot 9. Thank you to all who voted for us. It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows however as we did have to say adios to three songs from our votes. The biggest semi 2 casualty for us was Buzzjack Mountain's entry 'Giving U (What U Want) [4x4 vox]' by Rose Windross & Kele Le Roc, which we gave 6 points to. A shame they couldn't quite make it to the final twice in a row with entries we really liked. We then lost our 2 pointer 'Tvoi Glaza' by Loboda, courtesy of Lotunia. Finally, we waved goodbye to our 1 pointer, which came from Tinnmark - Unge Ferrari's 'Hologram'. We don't often vote for the nation so it was a shame this one didn't quite get through. Down with good songs called 'Hologram' getting the boot (see Deandria's song of the same name from BJSC 90 also - we're still bitter). Semi 1 went a bit better for our favourites as we only lost one song from our would-be top 10, courtesy of Thelonia. Poor brave MC BOING, we simply must #EndTheloniaRacism now.
October 9, 20177 yr Author BJSC 99 Results Zhanar Dugalova - Izin Korem Last night the BJSC 99 results show was underway in Medhelnia! We experienced the feeling of peaking very early in the results show for a third month in a row, as Zhanar was as high as 7th near the start. We eventually finished in 24th place with a round 180 points. We were a little underwhelmed with this as we were hoping for a top 20 position, but it is still an improvement on the 27th place finish from last month at least! 24th becomes the fourth position we duplicate (after 3rd, 8th and 9th) as we finished there in BJSC 97 with 'Mango Bay' by MONOMOTION too. We are becoming very comfortable in the 20s region this year, after 21st with aYia's 'Ruins' (BJSC 93), 22nd with Hugar feat. Arnór Dan's 'Waves' (BJSC 95), the aforementioned 24th with MONOMOTION'S 'Mango Bay' (BJSC 97), 27th with Moth Equals' 'Jiv' (BJSC 98) and now 24th with Zhanar Dugalova's 'Izin Korem' (BJSC 99). If we finish in the 20s region for BJSC 100 then that will take the tally up to 6 - the same amount of top 10s we scored last year! So not a particularly vintage year for Jadakissnian success like last year, but we do at least have our longest qualifying streak ever currently! Unlike last month also, 'Izin Korem' managed to pick up an 18! This was from the loyal nation of Quintessa who have awarded us four further 18s in the past. Séyetana also gave us 13 points right at the end, so thank you to those two nations for deeming our entry worthy of a medal position. Unovia scooped their first ever win after years of participation with 'Vulcano' by Francesca Michielin! We ranked this 21st but preferred it to a lot of the top 10 so we were happy with this solid winning song. Our 18 this edition went to Cor Lupus for the very first time with the spooky synthy affair 'LAX (Mr. Kitty Remix)' by Aesthetic Perfection. This finished in 15th with 215 points after a bit of a slow start. Our 15 points then went to Desbuanda for the haunting string-laden 'Exhumed' by Zola Jesus, which finished just behind Cor Lupus in 16th with 209 points. Our 13 was awarded to the hosts Medhelnia with their Jadakissnia recycle 'Delerium' by CHVRN. This finished just behind Desbuanda in 17th with 208 points, so yup, our top 3 all finished next to each other in our order of preference! So that was very satisfying. Thank you to the following nations for pointing us: Summericia, Hushkanukia, Niceland, Tinnmark, Quintessa, Deandria, N DNTN, Pupok, Ramrynia, New Lexico, Cadelicia, Unovia, Cumulonimbia, Ultraviolenceland, Jukianië, St Burbia, Suedeonia, Espen, Cor Lupus, Persephonia, Land DW, Taahino, Skall, Beaverdonia, Hendinia, Dobago, Lotunia, Aelandor + Séyetana  POINTS GIVEN + RECEIVED UPDATE GIVEN 01) 247 Persephonia 02) 152 Terra Avium 03) 130 Trifoski 04) 97 Singerpurear 05) 95 N DNTN 06) 91 Espen 07) 89 Quintessa 08) 82 Fljótavík 09) 80 Bøtanikkä 10) 80 Kluminican Republic RECEIVED 01) 236 Persephonia 02) 194 Terra Avium 03) 166 Espen 04) 137 Quintessa 05) 131 Deandria 06) 126 Suedeonia 07) 118 Aeroche 08) 115 Land of DW 09) 113 Kylienips 10) 103 Skall It was fun being a pophoe again but we say farewell to that as our planned entry for the big 100 is far more typical Jadakissnia - glowing synths galore. We are coming to resurrect an incredible artist who deserves justice after they DNQed last time, watch this space...
October 9, 20177 yr I figured out what your BJSC 100 artist is based on that subtle hint and I approve xx
October 9, 20177 yr This was just a fantastic pop track. Especially love the frantic ending with that unusual stringed instrument! I'm experiencing a similarish drop in form as you from last year, my top 10s transforming into top 20s :heehee: next year us to both be fighting at the summit again!
October 9, 20177 yr Author I figured out what your BJSC 100 artist is based on that subtle hint and I approve xx I'm impressed  we'd make a top notch sleuthing double act tbh. (#neverforget Meekul's war against your AFSC votes) glad you approve, hoping to see the year out with a bang! This was just a fantastic pop track. Especially love the frantic ending with that unusual stringed instrument! I'm experiencing a similarish drop in form as you from last year, my top 10s transforming into top 20s :heehee: next year us to both be fighting at the summit again! I'm pleased that you approved of my pophoe venture, Dobbo! I wish your prediction of it coming top 10 had come true but alas  </3 omg the string part was so unexpected for me the first time I heard the song haha! That is indeed quite an amazing segment of it *.* Oh yes, so you are! Maybe we are just destined for very impressive BJSC years when the year ends in an even number... next year we shall rise again x
