It's added Lew :P

And thanks to everyone for your potential opinions!

6 entries :crying:
With all those 15's it was pretty hard not to have more than four :P

Guessing it's Lucy that's made it this year?
Fun fact: the last three times I've pointed you were either 15 or 18 points!

Also songs that have been entered all through 2016 that I'm ranking in terms of how I liked them before they impacted in *insert major music market here (so US (all formats), UK (all formats), Canada, Australia, to a lesser extent New Zealand), some of these may be in the top 150:

• Imany - Don't Be So Shy (Dobago 81)

• Bishop Briggs - Wild Horses (St. Burbia 81)

• Era Istrefi - Bonbon (Yehesi 82)

• Kungs - This Girl (Botanikka 83)

• FRENSHIP - Capsize (Unovia 84)

• Mike Perry - The Ocean (Hendinia 85)

• LP - Lost On You (Botanikka 85)

• Timeflies - Once In A While (Bhangra 86)

• Maty Noyes - In My Mind (TARO Bellamia 86)

• Fitz & the Tantrums - HandClap (Singerpurear 87)

• NEIKED & Dyo - Sexual (Ramrynia 87)

• Courage My Love - Stereo (Taahino 90)

5 entries woooooo :cheer:

Best Of The Best:

Comments: Part 1

I think I'll get started on the countries that didn't get into the top 150 but I feel really bad excluding them so here's my little token of appreciation + a small rate :)

-

Aelandor:
I feel REALLY BAD because you've given me so much support and I've only given you a measly ***one point*** in total. I mean, you supported "Higher" when your brother couldn't, and then it didn't stop there. And my theory is that it's a combination of two things: you DNQ too much for my liking and the songs that I felt were worthy of qualifying (see: Said The Sky) don't end up getting the long term appreciation that qualifiers end up getting, and thus your only qualifier was the only song that could get points from me. And I kinda liked "Pass Out" - the chorus sounds like a punkified "Faster Kill Pussycat" and that was pretty much in line with my tastes so that's good. :) Said The Sky has grown on me a bit now that I've found other songs of the same caliber that I've gotten into. And the Relient K song was cute. And then everything else was kind of a blur. Bear's Den kinda sounded like something out of a Teen Wolf scene, and then I barely remember the other three. So... keep doing what you're doing and eventually something will click.
2017 Onwards: Well I guess Copeland would have been a bit higher in my ranking had it not been such an overtly strong contest, but I'm not yet fully immersed into the Hot Topic aesthetic yet :P
Ranking: Sœur - Pass Out > Said The Sky - Nostalgia > Relient K - Cat > Bear's Den - Above The Clouds Of Pompeii > Fireflight > Unbreakable > Five Iron Frenzy - Into Your Veins > Imperial Leisure - Man On The Street

Ajanaeda:
"Why" grew on me thanks to me using it for a workout - yes, I still pay attention to other songs I didn't point! - and "Paradise Blue" passed over me completely. You'll get to me soon, don't worry.
2017 Onwards: Idk I kinda liked "Fighter" for a good 30 seconds and then the grindy drop ruined it for me...
Ranking: Skylife/Summer Rayne - Why > AJA ROSE - Paradise Blue

Alteria:
PLZ COME BACK. You could have pushed TNAF to at least 450 points :P
Ranking: Shiggy Jr - Beautiful Life (I liked this!)

Bhangra:
Let me tell you, I was so excited to see Timeflies on there because I've been following their material since "I Choose U", and "Once In A While" was IT. It ended up just missing commiserations for me (why did I DNQ for a strong contest like 86?), but still I chatted it way back and it's all good for that. Aside from that the Karizma ONE track was pretty wistful and trashy, and Henri PFR passed me by.
2017 Onwards: I feel really bad for having Tension just missing out on points for me and it would have really helped with giving you another qualifier (why does drum n bass have a horrible track record as of recently?), but those points will come someday. I have to repay you for supporting "Leave This Place".
Ranking: Timeflies - Once In A While > Karizma ONE - When Life Is Grey > Henri PFR - Home

Bignia-Zaragovina:

tumblr_inline_oics3arImU1s56wy6_500.gif

Aheheheheh this is awkward.

An assortment of MOR (which I HATE) but more teenybopper and Radio Disney fodder (which is fine for me). I was expecting the likes of Greyson/Ryan (despite his generic indie voice, he kinda sounds like Denny White tho)/maaaaaaaybe Sing Street cast on a good day, but everything else was either underwhelming, forgettable, or just downright boring. I recently found that Hayden Calnin has better material than what was sent to the contest (and even then that was more of Teen Wolf speaking). White Night Ghosts is basically white noise, the Jeremy Messersmith/StrangeFaces/JESSARAE songs I can't remember at all. "Homeland" was pretty underwhelming, I really like Chord's voice but I'm just not feeling this James Bay-lite style, and Electrisk was everything I hated about prepubescent singers but a lot less cheesy. Maybe because it's in a foreign language and therefore doesn't sound as try hard as the likes of Matty B and Jacob Sartorius. Don't take this the wrong way, Jack, you're good when you want to be (hi Andra Day) but it's a bit too... ehhhhhhh? Other than that I just don't wanna see you languish in the final too much.
2017 Onwards: Handsome Poets is a step in the right direction, but still a semi bottom 3 languisher.
Ranking: Greyson Chance - Back On The Wall > Ryan Beatty - Passion > Sing Street - Drive It Like You Stole It > Hayden Calnin - For My Help > Marcus & Martinus - Electrisk > Chord Overstreet - Homeland > JESSARAE - No Warning > StrangeFaces - Swimming > Jeremy Messersmith - Ghost > White Night Ghosts - Hope

Bubblelands:
don't remember you at all soz
Ranking: Ta-Ha/Issue - Orion

Buzzjack Mountain:
When you're sending songs that aren't original creations, you can see the improved reactions in general. See Water Juice. Nostalgic, funky, upbeat, approved. Wasting My Life? Sounds like summoning a demon.
2017 Onwards: Well if your potentials for 92 are anything worth noting, it's gonna be a pleasure doing business with you, Snakey.
Ranking: Water Juice - In Love > TheSnake - Wasting My Life

Cumulonimbia:
Kinda feel bad about this omission because the last two entries were the best offerings from Cumulonimbia that I've come across. Dan Deacon was true perfection and you really got me with Soulé. Stuff like NZCA Lines + Nimmo to an extent inspired me to send something dark like "You Settle Me", and Xpander was pretty cool sounding. Lite Spots grew on me a bit more after the contest because it kinda sounded funky (and in a YouTube ad way), and then the last ones I can give or take. Doctor Blind is on a high rise for now and I'm aching for another appointment. Boy would Bruno and Carrie Ann love to hear that Len Goodman remix :P
Ranking: Dan Deacon - Change Your Life (You Can Do It) > Soulé - Love No More > Sasha - Xpander > NZCA Lines - Two Hearts > KAYTRANADA - Lite Spots > The Len Goodman Independent Artists For Online Kindness Collective - Theme For BuzzJack (BBC News Remix) > The Longcut - A Tried And Tested Method

Dalisska:
I feel that most of the other DNQ's other than mine were pretty reasonable and as a result this became a pretty blink-and-miss comeback. I still wanna see what you're made of though so come back and try again :)
Ranking: KNOWER – Hanging On

Desbuanda:
Geez now I really have to repay you for pointing "Never Stop" lmao. The narrative of my opinions to a typical Desbuanda song is usually "okay, one and done", which has been the case most of the time. Soz but sometimes that's just how it is. There are some other songs that seem to break this pattern of indifference: Catalyse was pretty cool sounding and I ended up giving Matadora more of a chance thanks to getting into Drinkee. And of course whatever the hell was going on in the LSDXOXO song was nice, a pretty nice surprise of a qualifier. Cross My Mind was also decent. Daniel and 2 Young were just there IMO, even moreso with Brushstroke, and I have no idea what people saw in Lilyer. And then there's Ngaiire which was pretty doomed anyway, it's still easily in my least favorite entries of the year.
2017 Onwards: Listening to "Radio" again, it sounds very catchy, and very much in the Popjustice frame.
Ranking: Suns - Catalyse > SOFI TUKKER - Matadora > LSDXOXO - XXX ANGEL DUST XXX > A R I Z O N A - Cross My Mind > Batuk - Daniel > T.O.L.D. - 2 Young > Jome - Brushstroke > Lilyer - I Was Always On Your Side > Ngaiire - I Can't Hear God Anymore

Espen:
You had "Discipline" which is quite easily one of the best entries ever but then you just kinda faded into obscurity after that. It's weird seeing this switch off between having tons of success to just being there. Interestingly I liked CAPPA's track the most despite the underwhelming drop - everything else was excellent. L.E.J was also pretty iconic. The others were either just there or boring as hell. The stuff like Cosima/Irem Derici/Mashrou' Leila/Stalking Gia/Sacred Spirit sounded cool but didn't really add anything to the listening experience. I barely remember Hessian and the Nneka song and I don't know what people were thinking with My Moon. I'm sorry but how did that qualify over Terror Jr?
2017 Onwards: I'm kinda digging Beautiful Crime and I think it's pretty good TV show trailer music. The Orphan Black connections really helped with the atmosphere.
Ranking: CAPPA - Mad About U > L.E.J - La Dalle > Cosima - Had To Feel Something > Irem Derici - Dantel > Mashrou' Leila - Kalaam (s/he) > Stalking Gia - Second Nature > Sacred Spirit - Yeha Noha (Wishes Of Happiness And Prosperity) > Dahlia Sleeps - Hessian > Nneka - Soul Is Heavy > Sweet Coffee - My Moon

Farahtyn:
eh, to be honest I liked Young & Restless more. It was cool though :D
Ranking: Nigar Jamal - Herhalde

F.D. Anēne:
I did give All I Wanna Do points so the demand is clearly there. I've been liking your output so far though, Callum, please come back :(
Ranking: Martin Jensen – All I Wanna Do

Florina:
Surprisingly, the break really rejuvenated your spirit in this contest because this is a country that puts out some really nice tunes when needed, and I have absolutely no problem with all three entries. FRENSHIP was pretty nice despite not getting any points from me, same with Foreign Air, relatively epic and just my type of song. Echos was a bit less but I still liked it.
2017 Onwards: I don't think I really get Ten Fé as much as the other entries but I'm confident that you have some nice songs up your sleeve.
Ranking: FRENSHIP – 1000 Nights > Foreign Air – Echo > Echos - Gold

Frandoot:
Oh come on Andrew you can do much better than this.
2017 Onwards: I say come back after this contest and hopefully you get more into the spirit and get people on your side. It worked with HyunA, and "Wine My Body" was a bit of a guilty pleasure? You got this, don't worry.
Ranking: Miya Folick – I Got Drunk

giphy.gif

FSR Rontvia:
I remember you saying in the voting history thread that you wanted to get more points from me and I'M TRYING OKAY. Your songs either rub off on me quickly (Emoji), or I get into them too late (like half of these songs). And the sad thing is that most of these seem pretty geared to what I like. I'm Not Your Lady I definitely loved and gave points to and I think Emoji landed in your commiserations. Then there's the likes of Es Rappelt I'm Karton which I only started getting into thanks to my entry for 88, T S I E R which I got into thanks to Halloween Horror Nights, Ilumnarada for being great study music, and Error for being kinda quirky and cute, it just took time for me to find a version that wasn't blocked in the US. And KOLAJ was pretty decent too, I like her more recent stuff more. Same with Theia, I wish it wasn't so chilled though. Just keep trying Rich, you'll get to me eventually.
2017 Onwards: My challenge to you is that you keep up the massive success and know your audience. I have a feeling that Daithi was in the wrong semi.
Ranking: Olivia – I’m Not Your Lady > Pegboard Nerds – Emoji > Pixie Paris – Es Rappelt Im Karton > Alyss – T S I E R > Ortiga – Ilumbarada > Natalie Nykiel – Error > KOLAJ – The Touch > Theia – Roam > RØMANS – Prisoner > Real Lies – North Circular

Best Of The Best:

Comments: Part 2

-

Greenfroze:
I remember being really into Perfume's offering for the contest and then getting slightly into "Don't Wait Up" but not translating into points, but nothing else has clicked with me ever since. Which is sad because someone with your range of genres at least has something to appeal to me. "Anywhere I Go" ended up being pretty disappointing, as were the same with "Always" & "Lowlife". "Waves" was always shaping up to be pretty decent but it ended up passing me by, and I guess Alle Farben was also pretty cool. I've somehow forgotten how the others went. You came pretty close to winning me over and that was with The Girl & The Dreamcatcher, a duo I've been eyeing since October 2015, with something a bit more pop than the track I was talking about. Dove sounded excellent as per usual, so that made me happy. I know you have it in you to come with something, I need to repay you for being one of my biggest fans (possibly my biggest if you give me another 13-15 and Harry gives me close to nothing again).
2017 Onwards: Something about the Kidswaste offering sounded... surprisingly weak?
Ranking: The Girl And The Dreamcatcher – Make You Stay > Perttu – Waves > Alle Farben – Bad Ideas > That Poppy – Lowlife > Vicetone – Anywhere I Go > A.Kor – Always > Matilda – Ghost > Philter – Revolver > Sody – Sorry > PMMP – Lautturi

Ingermanlandia:
A very *shrugs* country from what I've experienced but Bomba Estreo had a good FIFA song so I gave a chance to Amanecer.
Ranking: Bomba Estéreo – Amanescer > Naadia – Omut > Jabberwocky – Photomaton

Isconia:
I want you back because if you really liked West End Kids you probably have better songs than this.
Ranking: Alice Boman - Waiting

Jayrusalem:
God, I wish you could have stuck around for the year. Leaving with a DNQ is not the way to go. Even one as amazing as Keke was.
2017 Onwards: HYPEEEEEE.
Ranking: Keke Palmer – I Don’t Belong To You

Joedonia:
Waaaay too many short comebacks and long disappearances. LANY wasn't really my thing, kinda like Låpsley where I didn't really get it.
2017 Onwards: HYPEEEEEE. [2]
Ranking: LANY - ILYSB

Kingdom Of Horanius:
I'm pretty sure you only joined because it was a contest hosted by me so I'll make sure I win again to get you back :D
Ranking: The Opposites - Licht Uit

Land Of DW:
A bit painful because I REALLY wanted to point Deep so hard as it grew on me so much over that month. Spring had the same problem too. And Bobby K. I guess the narrative for you this year was "so close but so far". The majority of these offerings were great but not outstanding and the ones that I felt were worth pointing ended up getting the shaft in a pretty strong lineup. I guess out of the DNQ's Spacecats was ok but the overall feel was underwhelming for the type of song that it was. Indaqo and the Condimente song also deserved better than they got. Long story short, a lot more franticness and less of whatever Ward Thomas was.
2017 Onwards: Honestly, Austra would have gotten about 5 points if it were in a regular quality contest.
Ranking: Marusha – Deep > Lucian & Remmi – Bobby K > RMB – Spring > Antti Tuisku - Pyydä Multa Anteeks Kunnolla > Ummet Ozcan - Spacecats > Indaqo – Boom Boom Boom > Nosfe – Condimente > Garry Schyman – Praan > Kadebostany – Teddy Bear > Ward Thomas – Carry You Home

N DNTN:
Probably the most notable snub in the top 150 as far as countries go. I was pretty impressed with N DNTN this time around. Managing to get into my commiserations was pretty tough, let alone getting points. Shhh was a crushing commiseration although if I gave it one point it wouldn't have made a difference anyway. That's the sad thing about hosting - my votes come first so it's easy to compile :P Kitty/Plaitum/to a lesser extent Nadia Tehran were also unlucky in their contests. And then came the one time I did point you, the haunting daycore track "Socila", a nice twist on hardstyle that I never would have expected to sound... good?
2017 Onwards: If the Kyary offering is anything to come by, it's man be a pleasure doing business with you, Chris.
Ranking: John The Baptiste – Socila > Raye – Shhh > Kitty Pryde – 285 > Plaitum – Jagwa > Nadia Tehran – Cash Flow > Kiddy Smile – Let A Bitch Know > Kazaky - Milk Choc > Sega Bodega – Security > The Swiss – Kiss To Kiss > Vendredi Sur Mer – La Femme A La Peau Bleue

Ojnoj:
So two entries and neither of them I pointed. Lao Ra had the superior entry but then again u feel that her singles are relatively strong anyway?
2017 Onwards: I guess Tiny-G was a little too teenybopper? Come back in March and we'll discuss more pointage hopefully.
Ranking: Lao Ra – Bang Boom > Chelsea Lankes - Bullet

PRoJ:
Idk what to think so here's a minimal rate consisting of one song.
Ranking: Mystery Jets - Telomere

Quintessa:
Let it be known that you actually did get points from me and this year was pretty competitive overall so don't be sad that you didn't make this. I'll repay you somehow :( ANi GLASS was weird and quirky but I guess if it qualifies it works. Soy was pretty amazing despite it crashing and burning. And the likes of Vanessa Elisha & the other Crywolf song were pretty good despite not grabbing me all the way (I kinda liked Vanessa more than Crywolf). And of course there was Gina Kushka, the song that grabbed attention from the start. I'm pretty sure you will treasure that moment I pointed you.
2017 Onwards: White Lung was okay, a bit standard Taahino but weaker but I think we can work with this.
Ranking: Gina Kushka – Bring It Down > Lali – Soy > Vanessa Elisha – Out Of Time > Ani Glass – Y Ddawns > Crywolf – Akureyri > Ghost – Square Hammer > Elektra – I Don’t Do Boys > Hannah Peel – All That Matters > Annabel Jones – Happy > Satchmode – Further Away

Sandeborg:
What I normally expect out of Sandeborg is the likes of Lisa Ajax, which isn't a bad thing at all, it's just that it's the typical Sandeborg strategy that won't really grab anyone other than the pop bloc, the Scandi bloc and I guess Jordan. And with others it's a bit hit or miss. Like Golden was just something that didn't really need to happen. Bad Girlfriend was even worse. But sometimes this type of bubblegum pop tends to creep on me. Work Like Beyonce was very Dawin and was a bit of a guilty pleasure, Ohlayindigo was subdued and light, and I understood the appeal to Peg Parnevik and SMILO (the latter more for being a clone of The Nights). Revolution was just epic. Amazing global message (which frankly should be applied today), amazing FIFA tribal drum backing, and it's bubblegum without being bubblegum at all. I salute you.
2017 Onwards: I see you're coming back for this contest so I'm hopeful that you may have a bit of a banger up your sleeve.
Ranking: Helly Luv – Revolution > SMILO – Young Again > Peg Parnevik – We Are (Ziggy & Carolla) > Ohlayindigo – Lullaby > Espen – Werk Like Beyonce > Ulrika – Oh Sally > Brooke – Golden > Lola Coca – Bad Girlfriend

Skall:
The thing is... I don't have the patience for songs that are the same four bars over and over again for 8 minutes straight (Teengirl Fantasy being a slight exception at least it changes a bit). And that summed up the first half of your entries. And then the other half were novelty or trying to be serious but still ending up novelty. I don't care what people say, I just don't like Stupeflip. There were some pretty decent tracks there otherwise. Idk what else to say.
2017 Onwards: I think Japandroids might be the best Skall entry now.
Ranking: David Lyme – Bye Bye Mi Amor > Teengirl Fantasy – Azz Klapz > Deerhunter – Nothing Ever Happened > Bicep – Just > Kollektivet – ÆØÅ Size Matters > O’Flynn – Desmond’s Empire > Art Of Tones – The World As We Live It > Dave DK - Woolloomooloo > Stupeflip – Stupeflip Vite !!!

Suedeonia:
Around 85 was when I started to root for Suedeonia, mainly for them to finally get a qualifier, and I thought you were possibly onto something with DMA's. And The Very Best. I was kinda hoping those would qualify. The Superwalkers song was among the same quality. Although I haven't given you points yet, I think there might be some chance of crossover if you decide to continue on with this journey.
Ranking: Superwalkers – Lost (As I Am) > The Very Best – Makes A King > DMA’s – Delete > Weather Report – Birdland > Where’s The Beach – Tripping The Luv Fantastic > In Hoodies – Healing > The Death Of Pop – Gardens > The Tubes – Don’t Touch Me There > Brian Eno – Here He Comes

Tartford:
I've become more and more surprised with Tartford with the passing months, and although there's still a bit of the unlucky side of the country, I think there's been more of a change. Numb was interestingly very mainstream and something that really fit with the scope of a Cor Lupus hosted contest. Yaaaaay. (Even though Mel C is a bit cheap lmao) Also pretty impressed with Marsheaux, and the likes of Luce Drayton/Alex Gaudino/Jody Wisternoff were also cool renditions of a past dance life. Aaaaand the rest I can take or leave. Idk. But I'm pretty sure some recognition to Tartford should be coming soon with this trajectory. After all, you're another country I need to return the favor to with all these points you've been throwing me :)
2017 Onwards: I definitely thought the Le Youth song didn't really deserve what it got.
Ranking: Sons Of Sonix - Numb > Marsheaux - Safe Tonight > Luce Drayton - To Be Loved > BLKMGK - You Don't Deserve Me > Alex Gaudino - Reaction > Jody Wisternoff - The Bridge > Metronomy - The Look > Dominique - I Think I'm Fallin' > Cigarettes After Sex - Keep On Loving You > Skinny - Failure

Tinnmark:
I think you should have outed yourself as a Vikings fan before all this bad luck :( I think the usual narrative with Tinnmark is that there's usually that one gem within the year (like Closer was the year before, you should see how many times it appears on ads), a few decent tracks that I probably would have pointed, and then the rest were just disappointing. Kinda more of the same here. Odal was kind of in the same realm as Ilumbarada in that it was good study music and... I get the stuff like alright and Wait For You despite them being rather weak dance tracks, and then the rest I never can really give an opinion on. Hmmmm.
2017 Onwards: Witness was okay, probably in the same lane as Brightest Light maybe?
Ranking: Wardruna - Odal > Sno - Krig > kid joki & CLMD - Wait For Love > FDVM - Brightest Light > Bendik - Kriger > Carl Louis - Telescope > Lars Vaular - Det Ordnar Seg For Pappa > Katastrofe - Sangen Du Hatar > Rockettothesky - Grizzly Man > Diskopunk - Antonio America

Utopia:
I'm just gonna say that if you had sent your votes when I went to bed rather than when I woke up you probably wouldn't have gotten another last place.
Ranking: Bleached - Sour Candy > Average White Band - When Will You Be Mine?

Varakë:
Should have come back for Rejects :(
Ranking: Deja - Lovestruck

What:
Show of hands: how many of you want Blake to come back to this site? *hand shoots up*
Ranking: KONTRUST - Sock N Doll

Zaminton:
Awww I was kinda hoping that you would make a return for 90 seeing as Movies was a pretty promising debut (despite it flopping and you not voting) but it's all good :)
Ranking: Rykka - Movies

Hello from the Beaverdonia delegate!

Artist: HALEM
Track: "Unstoppable"

'Unstoppable’ is the third official Single from Liverpool based electro-pop duo HALEM, produced in Liverpool’s Parr St Studios with engineer and producer Rich Turvey (Blossoms, The Coral, Clean Cut Kid, VITAMIN) and mixed by Tom Longworth (Xam Volo, Wiley, Rymes).
So a continuation of this "ain't gonna stop" theme started last year with Contact and continuing on with HALEM. Last year we went for a UK native act and that completely backfired, so maybe a little justice will be coming this time around?

144.) The Shanghai Restoration Project f/Zhang Le - The Wandering Songstress" (Persephonia)
145.) LeBrock - "One Night" (Thelonia)
146.) Fickle Friends - "Cry Baby" (Flynnonda)
147.) Dusky - "Ingrid Is A Hybrid" (Republic Of Adonia)
148.) Smith & Thell - "ROW" (Syndare)
149.) Dub FX - "So Are You" (Thelonia)
150.) Chiara Hunter - "Hammer" (Syndare)

Pretty brave choices from Syndare, Thelonia, Persephonia and Avalonia end up dropping out here. "I Do" is among two songs that I only gave one point to that appear on the top 150. More mainstream vibes from Flynnonda and Republic Of Adonia also appear here. And then there's the first Taahino track. Interesting feminism vibes.

Country Yearbook Write-Ups:

Persephonia:
I consider Persephonia as the base line for the standard off the rails hipster track that normal audiophiles such as myself wouldn't normally discover on a daily basis. And if I ever feel the need of experimentation, Bray's support is one I would look to, even if that means a disastrous flop (which has happened TWICE). Sadly that hasn't translated into points that often. I feel like they should considering that some of them either do have mainstream appeal (Color Guard) or implement some sort of doppelgänger sound (Øfdream as a Drake/Futute instrumental). Maybe "Figurine" applies to this as well, kinda sounds like an Urban track that would end up getting a few adds on US Urban radio and nothing else. The bottom two were a mess, Water Frozen was pretty delightful but with the contest getting a lot stronger, you have to be almost perfect, and Vlasy sounded pretty cool lyrically. Luckily the first two entries showed that the #Corsephonia crossover isn't dead: "Blitz", which was brilliant and still managed to be true to the sound, and the biggest 2016 crossover, "The Wandering Songstress", something that was so off the rails it just made sense.
2017 Onwards: And if there's anything you've learned about me, a Bemani artist will rack up major points from me. Thank GOD I'm not the only one sending them. "Colder" is also pretty amazing too.
Ranking: The Shanghai Restoration Project f/Zhang Le - The Wandering Songstress [#144] > Digitalism - Blitz > Baby Blood - Figurine > TWRR - Water Frozen > Øfdream - Thelema > Fallgrapp - Vlasy > Color Guard - In Your Bones > B.O.O.T.S. - Cure > Bachar Mar-Khalifé - Mirror Moon > Aron Can - Með Mér

Thelonia:
Poor poor Lewis. DNQ'd all but twice and almost every single DNQ was followed with failing to vote and getting banned from the contest after. Not as much love than with Anne-Marie but whatever came through your mind with the entries that ended up in this countdown... GENIUS. As for the rest of the tracks, Wild Belle was boring af, Fethers I completely forgot about after listening to the first 30 seconds, and Flux Pavillion was a bit disappointing. Recover I managed to point and it sounded like the typical UK underground dance scene. As for the ones that DID make it, So Are You was unique and something that I didn't expect to make to the final, it kinda reminded me of a more jungle-influenced Lane Boy. One Night was fab and something that reminds me of Riverdale now, and of course Jauz, an artist I considered way back, and the one track I was convinced would qualify out of 88. That build-up is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. What the hell were people thinking with that?
2017 Onwards: I'm personally glad you're seeing more success with your Pete Tong rejects, I Heard Love in particular was stellar and deserved to be as decently-sized as it was. Sälen seems a bit more subdued, so good luck with that :)
Ranking: Jauz X Netsky - Higher [#143] > LeBrock - One Night [#145] > Dub FX - So Are You [#149] > KLP f/Remi - Recover > Flux Pavilion feat. Andrea Martin - Never See The Light > Fether - Tides > Wild Belle - Throw Down Your Guns

Doing a little happy dance because we've made the top 10 again! 9th is actually really impressive considering we slated ourselves for somewhere around the 20's, but you guys never let us down! Thanks especially to Hendinia for the 18! This is for the fans!

Time to get ready for the South Danaelanda contest - last time we were there we DNQ'd, but will the curse be lifted?

We're going dance this time.

Congrats CODY on another top 10 :cheer: I remember when you posted potentials and it wasn't a fave but it grew so much when you did eventually send it :o

Cry Baby love too really lovely pop song

Artist: Gromee
Track: "Spirit" (feat. Mahan Moin)

With last month bringing in a record breaking third top 10 in a row and the end of shooting for Teen Wolf having passed a few days ago, we're feeling a little antsy. But that's not gonna stop us from delivering the goods. Polish DJ Gromee continues this trend of "we don't really have a plan so we're just gonna send something that fits the aesthetic" that's been going on for 2017. Expectations are ranging from 8th to midtable (and the last time we were there was when Wave Racer made 27th). Also let it be known that the last time we were in South Danaelanda, we got to our lowest position yet. But with a somewhat favorable semi, will it all change? Let's hope for the best, okay?

Also of note is an upcoming online video game competition showcase featuring the best of Blizzard Entertainment, including Overwatch, Heroes Of The Storm, and Starcraft 2: Legacy Of The Void. Gromee is scheduled to promote this song during the event at the end of March.
