You would not be such a fan of her as a JUDGE if you weren't such a Girls Aloud fan.

Tulisa was far more interesting as a TV personality than her in the two years she did (albeit considerable less so in her second year) so yes, i would very much welcome her return.

I will not sit here and allow bashing of the 2008 Cheryl judge. She was the best the show's ever had.

Yes, she wasn't at her best last year but hopefully she will improve! If not, maybe that Girls Aloud reunion will be closer than we think *.*

Well that's not entirely true, I loved Cheryl during her original stint and I wasn't majorly stanning her or GA at the time (obviously I loved them but they'd taken a back seat really). I've always found her very easy to warm to and a perfect judge for the show, and I felt her absence the following year (as great as Tulisa was for her first series). Obviously I'd love her back for GA stan-related reasons but I'm not quite as blind a stan as you might think :heehee: (see: Kimberley)
Cheryl doesn't do anything memorable at all - if you see articles of highlights of The X Factor, none of them really refer to what Cheryl has done. She also picks the wrong contestants.
The acts she picked to go through to live shows last year... I honestly would've picked the opposite three. And the ones she did choose didn't manage the final. She just doesn't have a clue.

I think it's a bit far to say she "doesn't have a clue" I don't want to sound like a defensive stan, and Cheryl's four girls weren't exactly my favourites for most of the series, but it was totally fair for her to pick them. In all honesty, no-one in that category really stood much of a chance of being a popstar last year.

Let's not forget Lauren Platt got the best result for a girl in three years. The highest placed girl in 2013 was Tamera Foster in 5th, and 2012 had Ella Henderson in 6th.

Cheryl was the main reason I started watching again last year to be fair, even if she was a bit under par than what she was during 2008/her premier years!

Cheryl was fabulous in 2008, a breath of fresh air on the panel. In 2009, her act grew a little old, but she was still quite good. It was 2010 when she was awful. Making awful decisions and becoming a parody of herself. 2014 she was just boring and did nothing of note.

Tulisa similarly had a fabulous first year, but her second was quite boring. But I think her second wasn't as good because it became the Nicole Scherzinger show. Tulisa didn't really get a look in and when she did, she came across quite negative. Such a shame.

(0 )(0 ) at Bal's post! I've never claimed that Cheryl was the perfect judge, and if I had to pick between her & Mel B being on the show I'd opt for Mel B!

Cheryl was a brilliant judge in 2008, her acts were spot on and she was a breath of fresh air at the time. However, like April has said, she's got progressively worse with each series she's done and last year she was at her least noteworthy, completely overshadowed by Mel.

I'm not sure if the "You would not be such a fan of her as a JUDGE if you weren't such a Girls Aloud fan." comment was aimed at me, Joseph or both, but I've always considered Girls Aloud/solo artist Cheryl and X Factor Cheryl as two different entities. I've been critical of Cheryl's judging over the years. For instance I thought her lambasting Wagner was a low/hypocritical moment from her.

I personally don't think any of Cheryl's years on the show were as bad as Tulisa's second stint. And that's not to completely put down Tulisa because that second year just showed how great she was in her first year! If she was to return, I hope she'd be as good as she was at the start.

And if the post was all jokes and I've taken it too seriously, then... SCREAMING! :heehee:

I wouldn't say I disliked Cheryl at all right now (she did make some very valid points, the other judges seemed to miss - especialy with Jay) but as a whole I can't say I'd be gutted if she wasn't there. She was great during her initial stint although she did lose it a tad in 2010 (I didn't actually mind her choices though, aside from Katie W who wasn't even that bad imo just not as good as Gamu or even Keri/Raquel/Anastasia).

2014 was definitely not as great though, I did love Lauren (when she was on it, I Know Where I've Been and Happy ) but I think choosing Stephanie (although I think if mentored well she could have been brilliant), Lola (great voice but NO personality) and Chloe (great within her lane but was never going to last) was ridiculous. Tbf though Kerrianne (though I loved her) had week 5 shock at best written all over her and I really didn't get Emily Middlemass AT ALL. But then it was also Cheryl's fault for not putting through the likes of Orla and Monica from bootcamp :drama:

Wow, so many brackets in a short piece of text

Tulisa wasn't even bad in her second year though... She was completely overshadowed by Nicole because the whole thing literally turned into the Nicole show, so she never had a look in. And when she did, it just so happened she wasn't at her cheeriest. From the VTs alone though you could tell she was extremely passionate about the direction she was going in with her acts, like Ella for example.

I'd certainly say Tulisa's in a far better position to mentor acts on a show like this than Cheryl is.

I'd like to see Cheryl with the groups. I think that would be quite interesting.

Really??? Each to their own of course but Cheryl's 12 years in the industry and 9 cumulative #1s (10 if you count Everybody Hurts) say otherwise. Not to discredit Tulisa because I think she is a more than capable judge, but Cheryl has considerably more experience so I'd say she's in a better position...

I'm not sure why this is Cheryl vs. Tulisa anyway, I know I'm a fan of both. I can, however, see *both* have had flaws during their XF stints. And Mel B slays them both :kink:

YES! 3 out of her 4 years on the show she's had the girls so it would be great to see her get the groups.

Joseph... Cheryl was spoon-fed everything at the beginning. She entered a talent contest, and yes, she had to work each week to get to the end of it, but she had people behind her doing a lot of stuff for her, and ultimately she was just a small fraction of a girl group for however many years. Tulisa's worked her way up to the top from the very bottom most likely with little support. She's done it all for herself.

Tulisa will know what it's like to manage an act in a talent contest and help them become a better artist week on week, because she's put all that hard graft in herself. The only thing Cheryl's truly capable of is giving emotional support because she's 'been in their shoes' (if she cares enough).

Oh my gosh yes *.*

I don't think you need to be a Girls Aloud/Cheryl fan to be a fan of Cheryl as a judge though, I hardly fit into either of those categories!

I'm sorry but the whole "spoon-fed" thing is really silly, it's something I've always hated people saying because it stinks of the view of "real music" fans. Not criticising you or saying that's you, I just think it's a really weak excuse. Girls Aloud had no manager essentially for a while and had to organise themselves, and still they managed to get hit after hit. You shouldn't discredit someone's work just because they've had assistance for it anyway, and ultimately that's not a factor as to what makes someone a capable judge. In fact, it makes Cheryl a MORE capable judge because she's been through it herself! Tulisa has not been through a talent show, and whilst you don't *need* to have done that to be a judge, it's silly to say she knows what it's like, when she doesn't really.

Sorry Calum but I think it's quite a weak argument you're putting across right now. Cheryl's obviously a capable judge if Simon wants her back :P

I'm not sure why this turned into a Cheryl v Tulisa stand off anyway  I was hardly giving Cheryl a glowing amount of praise before stating I didn't think Tulisa was good in her second year! Not sure why people are getting so defensive!

Can we focus on Mel B please for a moment.

She's bagged a place on the America's Got Talent judging panel for three years running. I really hope she does another series of the X Factor but she is doing excellently for herself with the AGT slot anyway.
