In response to the 2014 thread by Jake, how do you feel about Venus in 2015! One and half years old already! :o

Basic responses from 2014 ~

Terrible and overrated. Not only it's one of the worst on Artpop, but it ruins the tracklist and I've actually swapped it with Applause.

Mess.

The first time i heard it i was horrified. It's since grown on me, then withered and now i'm back to loving it again. Perhaps the most divisive tracks she's ever done though?

Quite possibly one of the worst songs I've ever heard - and I'm not the only one :P Quick google shows that!

Yes, it is a bit like raw sewage now that you mention it.

It's a joke track.

Some non-basic responses from 2014 ~

why do so many monsters hate venus? you guys need to get your ears checked... venus slays ok

I love "Venus", it just will be a terrible single choice. Radio won't touch it and it'll flop on its arse!

I've been a 'Venus' stan from the beginning right up until now. I remember when it first leaked, I played it about 100 times in one day, I made everyone insane and claimed it's going to be the new 'Bad Romance' et al. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ed2305b7.png

I must say I don't know how everyone feels so obliged to hate it, but then again trolls are deeming ARTPOP's album tracks worse than The Fame's - then you should know people are going out of their way to be negative toward Gaga and criticize her music so harshly.

'Venus' is immensely catchy, like Garden Panty says, those 'Venus' catchphrases are phenomenally well done and stick with you right from the first listen. The song is very off-centre and obscurely produced, but that didn't tarnish Girls Aloud's 'Sexy No No No' from critical acclaim, yet this song is either loved so immensely or overly detested.

I genuinely wish it was otherwise, I personally saw 'Venus' as a career highlight for Gaga and a superb choice for 2nd single, but it being such a marmite track sadly proves that mine and many other 'Venus' stans views are not universal and that it should rather be remembered as the controversially marmite promo single.

Venus is easily the best song on Artpop, possibly her best song yet. It's totally unhinged and oddly catchy which is what I want from a Gaga song.

It's my favourite Gaga song OF ALL TEERM!!1

I personally believe that it's the track's OOD and ridiculous lyrics that polarize listeners most tho, but conversely that's what made me love it so much

Her second createst creation after Judas. I love it more than Sebby tbh.

This (and 'Aura') are essentially Gaga having a mental breakdown on record. I enjoy it, but wouldn't choose it as a single.

Still better than 'Applause' though.

Like cow pat on a warm summer's day rebelling, smashin yo car windows, climbing in and defecating itself in yo ears.

Raw sewage trash.

Worst GaGa song EVER.

Britney 2007 VMAS who??

I now find it tolerable enough to have it back as Track #2. #Progress

loved it in 2013 when it was performed on the X Factor but now it's just terrible and clunky and doesn't sound right me or though it does share a memorable moment when I was incredibly drunk throwing up in the car when it was being played in the background

I adore it now, solid 10/10 and in my ARTPOP top 5 (Gypsy > Venus > Sexxx Dreams > Swine oops > Applause) and probably my Gaga top 20!

I didn't really like it to start with, it felt a bit of a mess and I was just like "god knows wtf this is meant to be" but I caved and just gave into its total ridiculousness by around about the time ARTPOP came out! It's probably her most Gaga song ever for all the criticism there was about it being so weird, awful and parodical

Back in 2013 I absolutely hated it. It was the single worst song GaGa had ever done. I found it unlistenable and just dirge! In this current moment though and now that a year and a half has passed, my opinion still hasn't changed. :)

I don't even know how people can class it as a "song" tbh. It's utterly vile.

I don't think it was the drink that made you do that.

In all seriousness, I thought this was a pretty creative track back in 2013 when I first made a dry run through the album, and it became a guilty pleasure for me. Utter hilarity.

Nearly 18 months in and it's still remained as such. Though there are some songs that I prefer on the album more now (see: "Sexxx Dreams"), it's still an amazing track. The sample she used was also pretty interesting.

I did not like it upon release and thought she'd lost the plot. Since then i have warmed to it somewhat and i actually hear it out in clubs more than any song of her's since 'The Edge of Glory' so it's actually had some impackt outside of the internet cult classic realms too.

Her X Factor performance is still to this day pretty hilarious, though I must admit her vocals during the beginning are amazing.
Still hate this with an intense passion tbh

Track makes anyone with workin ears puke tbh.

Refuse to use the word 'song' to describe this breakdown.

There are like 500 different catch phrases and hooks in this masterpiece. The "When you touch me I die, just a little inside, I wonder if this could be love" hook is IRRESISTIBLE.

"Garden panty" alone is IKONEC.

Incredible. A complete 10/10, possibly her most fun track, it makes me go crazy like no other Gaga song.
