Anyway this week~ very good number one there! 'How Deep Is Your Love' clicked with me today in the chart and it's quite a refreshing new one from him, really quite liking it. Tinashe in the top 3 as well! 'All Hands on Deck' is very good, I still go back to her album all the time, if only that one could do the business in the official chart as well, poor ha.

 

A bit weird that I know the new Shaggy single over a new Black Eyed Peas one! Like you said this one appears to be completely lacking in hype, maybe they need the Fergie Fergz touch. Or to expand it outside of an Apple Music exclusive!! Oh well it could be worse, at least it wasn't Tidal. :kink:

 

In terms of lower down in yo chart, I'm not keen on the Robin Thicke song buuuut the Kygo one is fab! Definitely the best I've heard from him to date in a sea of very similar sounding offerings hehe.

Firstly, SO MUCH BJSC goodness *.* we have such similar taste in which entries we love most of the time hahaha (and each others more often than not ofc). Omar smashing it into the top 3! A shame I wasn't in that semi as I really enjoyed the listen of it on plug last night, very bangin' :music: Other top picks from here would of course be Jessica 6, Theodora, Wølffe, KSHMR, Iris and GFOTY :heart: All really instant! Jessica 6 in particular <3

 

In non-BJSC news, slay Kendrick with that top 5 entry! I'd kinda forgotten about 'Alright' but it's a great listen, as can be said for most of 'To Pimp a Butterfly', really! Yay at that Disclosure entry too, I'm obsessed right now, they ALWAYS bring it with the fabulous production. Only time will tell if it'll overtake 'Holding On' in my affections but 3 stellar offerings from this era so far, woop woop!

Both of Calvin's previous #1s ('We'll Be Coming Back' and 'Sweet Nothing') also spent exactly 5 weeks at the top, will this go further than they did? Selena Gomez and A$AP Rocky continue their unusual chart run with a re-entry into the top 3 on their 3rd separate top 10 run with 'Good For You'. Disclosure claim their third top 10 hit from the 'Caracal' era with Sam Smith collab 'Omen'.

 

Most new entries are of the BJSC persuasion as is often the case but the highest new entry comes from Pia Mia, Chris Brown and Tyga at #14 with 'Do It Again'. I feel I may come to regret charting this so high later but I'm loving it at the moment. I could see Calvin remaining #1 here for a while longer, it's still by far my favourite song around right now and showing no signs of getting old, plus there seems to be very little in the way of exciting new music otherwise.

yeah I get what you're saying in the 2nd paragraph, Waiting For Love spent 12 weeks at #1 for me a lot of those weeks simply because there is a lack of amazing musique right now.

I spoke too soon about Calvin Harris and Disciples having more weeks at #1, Calvin stops at 5 weeks again as he drops to #2. There's a new entry at #1 for DJ Snake and AlunaGeorge's 'You Know You Like It' which massively clicked with me last week. It massively outpeaks the original AlunaGeorge-only version (which peaked at #21). It's Snake's second #1 (he's the first act to have 2 #1s on the Bré Approves 40 just 17 weeks into its existence) following 'Lean On' with Major Lazer and MØ and AlunaGeorge's 3rd #1 overall after 'Attracting Flies' and 'Royals / White Noise' with Disclosure and Lorde. (The original 'White Noise' peaked at #2 - AlunaGeorge always going to #1 with new versions of previous hits on here :magic:)

 

That aside, the second highest new entry at #5 is Drake's 'Hotline Bling', his highest charter since 'Hold On, We're Going Home' reached #3 in 2013. Disclosure claim a third top 5 from their new album 'Caracal' as Sam Smith collab 'Omen' climbs to #4. Jess Glynne has her first top 10 as lead artist with 'Don't Be So Hard On Yourself' climbing to #10, beating the #13 peak of 'Right Here' and #16 of 'Hold My Hand'. Lana Del Rey's most instant lead single for me, 'High By The Beach' debuts at #14 while The Honorable Sir John Newman CBE and Eight Time UK #1 Artiste has a top 20 new entry with 'Tiring Game' featuring Charlie Wilson at #19, off to a much better start than 'Come And Get It'.

 

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis slightly surprisingly have 2 #1s for me ('Thrift Shop' and 'White Walls'), they come in at #21 with comeback track 'Downtown' featuring a host of retro names. Sigma and Ella Henderson make a belated debut at #26 with 'Glitterball' - too late to avoid Ella being dropped perhaps - and there are further new entries for Bring Me The Horizon's Linkin Park-esque 'Throne' at #31, Little Mix's instant grat 'Hair' at #33 (a welcome return to the 'Salute' sound giving me hope 'Black Magic' was a one off... it won't be), Duke Dumont's 'Ocean Drive' at #35, the first ever Bré chart appearance for 5 Seconds Of Summer at #37 with another instant grat 'Fly Away', and finally Imagine Dragons' surprisingly good 'Roots' at #38.
