Manor Marussia have passed their crash test and will definitely start the F1 season. Fantastic news that is from them.

Ex F1-driver Giedo van de Garde is taking legal action over Sauber over unfair dismissal as according to him he was guaranteed a 2015 seat with them. We'll wait and see what happens there.

There's something very odd about the whole crash and the teams reaction to it.

However, telemetry (that hasn't been released to my knowledge) allegedly suggests that Alonso was breaking during the crash in a manner that suggests he didn't lose consciousness before the accident.

An absolutely gorgeous new website has launched! Formula1.com

Looking forward to this F1 Access thing too. I've had the F1 app for several seasons now, but it looks like with F1 Access that we'll be able to access the same information on both the app and on the website for the same price as previous years (except last year which was very cheap for some reason, but every other year has been around the £20 mark) which will be great!

So looking forward to this weekend, always love the first race of the season where (usually) it's still all up in the air!

One thing I'm not particularly liking is the fact there'll be 4 drivers on the grid younger than me this season

The issue still continues:

Messy times indeed for Sauber as their team boss could face prison if Giedo van de Garde doesn't race in Australia.

So who hardcore fans will be watching this one live? Always considered it a challenge  (especially when it was broadcast at 3AM GMT)

Great day all round! :D

Particularly happy for Sauber what an amazing result for them. Glad to see they've returned to their mid-00's fully blue livery which yielded the best results for them! This Nasr guy looks the real deal.

Interesting first race indeed. Expected Mercedes to be as strong as last season. Great win for Lewis Hamilton. Good podium for Vettel. Good to see Ferrari back in the Top3.

Only 15 cars started the race though which doesn't really look good for the sport.

Fantastic debut for Felipe Nasr who finished in 5th place for Sauber and also some good points for Marcus Ericsson who has finally got the chance to show what he can do in a far superior car compared to last year.

Nightmare race for Lotus. Both cars out within the first 2 laps.

It was a shocker for Lotus but they'll at least be pleased their car showed promising pace. Both drivers into Q3 which didn't happen at all last season & Maldonado would have almost certainly scored points but for being helpless at the turn 1 collision (for once).
Mercedes and to an extent Red Bull beforehand have really sucked the life out of F1 for me to the point where I don't even care enough to watch highlights of an opening race. No desire at all to watch when there are only 15(!) starters and the best car is 1.4 seconds ahead of the second best in qualifying and half a minute ahead in the race. Another season where any of the drivers on the grid would finish second in the Championship if they were in one car. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I'm obviously slightly biased because I'm a massive Hamilton fan but I really don't think it's as bad as Red Bull's domination years (2011 & 2013). The main difference being that Rosberg can actually put up a fight & make a 2 horse race season exciting unlike Webber who was royally spanked by Vettel at virtually every race those 2 mentioned years.
Mercedes dominance is worse than red bulls as red bull were not 1-2 all the time
Last year was infinitely more exciting than 2011 & 2013 though. We had a title that went right to wire, despite the fact only 1 team were in it. When Red Bull were on top, yeah sure you'd get the odd team win every now and then but the title fight was over by the midway point.

Only because vettel was dominant and not all due to the car
The title was the only thing that kept last year interesting, and it was only Hamilton having more bad luck than Nico that stopped it from being the same as 2011 & 2013. At least in 2013 four different teams won races. 2011 was the first domination for a while (ok Button had always won in 2009 but Brawn faded off massively in the second half), this is going to be 4 out of 5 seasons now. Too much!

Button/Brawn was 09 & it was a shame they were too dominant early on as that could have been a huge battle at the end with Red Bull's coming of age. 2010 was by far the best season for competitiveness I think it'll be a long time for another one like that sadly :/
I feel really sorry for alonso. Best driver in the pack but will never win another title
