I think it's great you added it, as I know a lot of people want to be completely surprised! Thank you so much for translating that! Exhale is still piecing it together, bless them.

Thank you Hurricane <3 That's great.

@Tyler I forgot to say that one thing I love about 'Invitation' is that her vocals are heavily edited on it, but you can tell that's actually a stylistic choice rather than albums like BJ/FF where it felt like they just had something to hide. Her vocals are very natural on the majority of the album so 'Invitation' is a misleading opener in that sense, and I like how it contrasts in how her voice sounds.

It is honestly quite hard to decipher in some parts.

It's a great song, but they could have made a better effort to get the best pronunciation they could get from her - which I doubt is what we got.

MAN ON THE f***ING MOON OMFG

I'm gonna listen to the full album tomorrow I think but what a stunning song  I guess I can see the Alien comparison but it's kind of like along the same lines but off on a tangent from Alien at the same time

Yeah I struggled basically from the start. I figured it only made sense for her to be saying "J'oublie" but she sneaks in some 'é' noises and it's just messy. I find a lot of the pronunciation problems endearing though, and I'm glad there's a French Britney song even if it's not perfect.

On the note of Languageney, I don't suppose you know what the languge in the MOTM middle 8 is? I'm getting Italian but nobody else seems convinced of that so I wonder if I'm over-confident.

EDIT: That's also a question for Liam! I know you are great at Italian.

Great review Umi! My opinions are almost totally in line with yours!

If I'm dancing... I know the music's good. <-- love this lyric. I actually really like this song; I guess I can see why it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea though! The counteraction of the quirky production and her (mostly) breathy vocals is quite cool to these ears. "If I'm DARNCING" is... delectable. :')

Man On The Moon really stands out... it's stuck in my head the most out of all the new tracks. I think there's something really special about it. EDIT: I've determined why I feel this, there's a wistfulness to her vocal delivery in the chorus which is what makes this song for me. Beautiful! <3

She definitely says "donne" which is woman in Italian but I don't understand the rest of it, the production is a bit loud as it's building to be able to make out what she's saying  She says "do" right after but that can't be a mispronunciation of two in Italian surely, it's due which is quite different. It doesn't really sound Italian at all though (the rest of it, her donne is quite spot on, slay) so I'm thinking perhaps it's just a mish-mash of languages? Maybe a word or phrase from each one. It just doesn't sound like it's all one language, her tone just differs a bit for the various words to my ears. Fitting in as much language-ney as possible *.*

I've decided to describe a few songs for the people that have decided to not listen to it until the release of the album.

It's coming in a few minutes!

01. Invitation

It's a very decent way to start the whole thing. I think the introduction to the album is quite strikling, in a way, with these really robotic/monotone "ahhhhhhhhhh"s. You just don't know what to expect. Britney comes in, delivers her usual sultry vocals and then... Some amazing, almost angelic, "ahhh ahhh ahhh" pours into the track. She goes in full-on headvoice with the chorus and there's definitely melodyne to pitch her up even higher but I'm pretty sure it was done on purpose instead of being a pitch correction of sort. It's the sort of track that works either like an opening or an ending, you'll get what I mean by that when you listen to it. But considering the title, it makes so much sense as an opener.

02. Do You Wanna Come Over

03. Make Me...

04. Private Show

05. Man on the Moon

Alright, first off. Do you guys know the sort of slight reverb effect there's on Cheryl's 'Only Human' verses? Well, the effect there is pretty much similar, but as far as comparisons go, it stops right here. That means it also sounds nothing like 'Alien'. (I feel like the comparisons are only due to the "outerspace" theme). The melody for the verses is so enticing, really catchy and she sounds lovely. But, believe me, she sounds even much better on the chorus. It's an headvoice affair, but there's no pitching up like it was the case with 'Invitation'. The middle-8 is a proper middle-8, it has an absolutely different tempo and vibe to the rest of the song, but it works. The whole song has a slightly quirk to it, but it remains really mainstream. The lyrics are honestly beautiful. Typical Britney, I feel. There's a huge single potential on this one. Production is really sleek as well, it's worth mentioning.

06. Clumsy

07. Just Luv Me

Okay, this is very Britney does 'Justin Bieber', more than it is let's say a proper sister to 'Breathe On Me'. The verses and pre-chorus are honestly quite amazing. It's very sultry, delicate, soft, extremely sensual, but the chorus is lacking a climax. It works fine in the first chorus, but I really hoped she would do something different with the next ones. She does a sort of "uh-oh-oh-oh" at some point after the second chorus, so I guess there's that. Even the middle-8 seems like it should climax, but it doesn't quite do it. Honestly, it's still a 10/10 in my opinion because the atmosphere of the song is just hauntingly sensual, but I really wonder if radios would play that if it was a single... Fan favorite doesn't always equal good single for radios.

08. Slumber Party

I love that one. It sounds like something that could have featured Drake, somehow? Maybe it's the production, it does sort of give 'Hotline Bling' vibes just a little. The melody during the chorus is so damn catchy and there's a post-chorus consisting of "hoo-hoo-hoooot" that is really catchy as well. It's a winner honestly, and Britney could definitely tackle a rapper on it if she wanted to release it as a single. Really strong melody on the chorus, seriously. Single potential like crazy. In fact, it would be a 10 from me now, not just a 9.

09. Just Like Me

INSTANT FAVORITE. That guitar is so lush. Oh and her vocals? Amazing. It's basically 'Just Luv Me', but with like 84 hooks instead of just one. It's slightly less sultry and delicate, but the atmosphere during the chorus is quite similar. It's a tad short, of course, but it doesn't matter because it's packed with hooks and really great vocals throughout. I mean, to me, it should be the next single. It's one of my favorite Britney songs ever.

10. Love Me Down

The production on the verses are so wobbly if that makes sense? I can't explain it because I'm not really good when it comes to that. The pre-chorus is soooo catchy, there's a really great melody right there. And then comes the chorus which is basically just some "l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-love me down" repeated a bunch of times. It's really underwhelming, even more when you realize how catchy the verses are, but especially the pre-chorus. That part is honestly one of the best moment of the album. Oh, I also gotta say ; I love her ending note! (It's still a great track, though, don't worry.)

11. Hard to Forget Ya

Amazing production, really lush vocals at the start and the melodies are so strong on the verses. It's really pop, isn't it? Not in a sweet sugar colorful way, but it just has everything that is so great about pop these days. Again, the chorus is a tad underwhelming because of how good the bits that come before were. However, it's definitely not as dull as the chorus of 'Love Me Down'. That track at least has more going for it. The build-up to the chorus is admittedly really great and it's true that the chorus just soars in an almost euphoric way. Really great vocals again, especially the middle-8. Great song.

12. What You Need

Okay, I don't want to scare you away.... but it's honestly a Meghan Trainor albumtrack. BUT DONE RIGHT. So don't worry too much. The vocals are great (although they're definitely going to be divisive because of how bold there are at times). To me honestly, it's like "Private Show" but made to actually sound good within the context of the album. (Yes, 'Private Show' honestly is too weird for the album)

13. Better

Tropical house bop for days. Maybe less 'Justin Bieber' this time, and more of what most people have been doing recently. It's really good, though. I don't think there's a single potential there (everything is good, but not great ; the vocals, the lyrics, the production, etc.) Okay, the drop is catchy for sure, yes, but I don't know if it would be enough. As a bonustrack, though, it's a looooot more than decent. It's really good, seriously.

14. Change Your Mind

This is NOT a bonustrack, alright? This is like your best second-single ever. What the f*** is this doing on the Deluxe? It's literally above so many of her best songs. The verses are catchy enough with a really "snap your fingers" production, but then the pre-chorus hit you and....UGHHHH! So so so good. It goes : "Say you don't want to cross the line, but Imma make you change your.....MIIIIIND" Her falsetto sounds so nice on that last word. There's a drop and it's quite decent, but it works perfectly fine because there's a few vocals lines over it. So so so so goood. I swear to God. Also Britney speaking spanish? I mean, come on! This is just
too
good.

15. Liar

Okay, everyone loves that one, but I honestly don't get it. It's definitely sassy, so if you really like that, you will love it. It's really bold and huge in production, the bassline is quite immense. It sounds like there's some really deep and low haunting male voice in the background as well. The chorus is just dull in my opinion, sorry.

16. If I'm Dancing

The vocals are so airy, almost euphoric. Really sweet and angelic at times. The production is quirky. There's a lot happening production-wise, but the song somehow feels really laid-back and chill, somehow... Maybe it's the airy vocals. I love the middle-8, she sounds so luuuuuuush on it guys.

17. Coupure Électrique

The pronunciation is quite honestly terrible, but the song is just so weird, so odd, that it works perfectly fine. It's basically a Yelle track - which, ironically, is a French artist. It's some cold electropop sugary piece of a bop. It works fine as a closer since it's basically meant to be a "blackout".

Also, how I've heard the album in full I certainly think Make Me was the best choice of lead. It makes the most sense commercially, even if there are songs possibly better.

OH MY GOD

Will post a detailed review later, but OH MY GOD. BRITNEYS BACK BITCHES!!!

Coupure Électrique is SO GOOD - so mystical and chilled out  Making my way through the rest of the album right now.
The album does not work in standard edition. The deluxe tracks are better than the last 2 or 3 tracks on the standard, and the album finishes much better on Coupure Électrique than it does with What You Need.
I'm convinced the MOTM middle 8 language is not Italian. The intonation might be kinda there but there are sounds which don't exist in the language. It sounds more like Albanian and it might not even be Britney who says those words.

Disappointing that Britney isn't saying the Spanish parts in Change Your Mind. What a cop out. And Frenchney is weird. :(

Underwhelmed with this album.

hun that's called an opinion
Just skimmed through the album, I guess Clumsy really is the club banger of the album :/
