July 30, 20159 yr Thanks for the post Envoirment. That video just shoots up my confidence about everything. I said before that Thunder had such emotional resonance - I think this is it's connecting point with listeners. Really optimistic about things now.
July 30, 20159 yr Am I the only one disappointed in that performance? I can hardly understan what she sings in the verses
July 30, 20159 yr Oh, wow. The Thunder performance on Live with K & M was FANTASTIC! Just had to log in after a small hiatus. Don't know what to make of the promo so far. Impact doesn't seem as strong. I just want to ask: does visiting a radio station guarantee some play listing? Also, isn't audience size and hours of play even far more important than just basic play listing? I'm just asking to get an idea of what to expect from the radio tour. Here's how I would mix things up moving ahead. And I'm not saying this because I think things are going awry. I know US is it's own beast, but that there are also out of the box ways of speeding things up. 1) Dig up a bonus track - a really solid uptempo. Then...promo it on itunes, facebook and spotify, and a few blogs...(bonus track from upcoming album) 2) Release the THUNDER video with some VEVO promotion. WIth the pre-awareness generated with step 1, the video could likely have more impact than an open release. After this, it will be time to move on to more TV promo. Seriously, they have to do the best to have Leona interviewed rather than just perform. I know 'Live' doesn't typically do this, but I do hope for future TV appearances, including the stack during album release week, she will do more than just perform. Don't worry about promo. Really. She's has an insane promo schedule during album release week. She'll be going to New York and London in that week to promote. Defjam is only just beginning in the US. The president of Defjam is a huge fan of Leona and is supporting her. They're going to make sure she breaks out. It's important to have radio on your side so this four week radio tour she's doing is all in her favor. Things don't kick of in 3 seconds in the US. She'll be appearing on Jimmy Fallon soon too.
July 30, 20159 yr Am I the only one disappointed in that performance? I can hardly understan what she sings in the verses I thought the beginning could have been a bit clearer, but she made up for it in the second half. Really looking forward to seeing the progress this song makes in the US. The only one out of the 3 singles released so far that I have really fallen in love with.
July 30, 20159 yr Her vocals seemed to have improved massively since CWL and Glassheart eras, but her diction has gotten worse. I'd rather have her current vocal strength though.
July 31, 20159 yr Author I need the music video to drop immediately. I'm expecting it to come on Monday.
August 1, 20159 yr I cackled when I saw the stunt double for Leona in that fall. The hair looks nothing alike
August 1, 20159 yr I cackled when I saw the stunt double for Leona in that fall. The hair looks nothing alike I'm hoping they edit well or it could look rather ridiculous lol! Also, the song is on the verge of breaking into the top 50 of HAC radio in the US, should do so in the next 2-3 days! :cheer:
August 3, 20159 yr Author 'Thunder' has entered the top 50 on Hot AC radio: http://headlineplanet.com/home/2015/08/02/...ewis-go-top-50/
August 3, 20159 yr I'm not keen on thunder - its a little underwhelming. Nothing I've heard so far this era so far is as strong as her material on glassheart. Edited August 3, 20159 yr by slowdown73
August 3, 20159 yr Out of the top 1,500 on iTunes already :( What do you mean 'already' ? She's still on radio tour and has only done one tv performance. Why is it that everyone expect Leona to chart top20 immediately with no promo? It's the US, not the UK. It's been 6 years since she released a single (OMS excluded), DefJam has to rebuild what has been destroyed. She has to start all over again. Bleeding Love didn't go #1 straight away either.

Echo is my favourite but I really think I Am will be better. I prefer everything over GH atm (not all the songs, but most) but that's probably because I don't like the GH sound for Leona. I like the sound she's going for now

Nobody is expecting her to go top 20 or even top 200, but it's slightly disappointing to see her at various radio stations and seeing she can't even sell 5 copies of the back of it at the moment

August 3, 20159 yr It fell out of the top 1500 as soon as it was removed from Hot Songs on the US iTunes main page. I'll wait until it starts getting play on Top 40 radio before worrying. Hopefully with increasing HAC play it'll help the song climb back into the top 1500. Although quite a few songs climbing on HAC aren't charting in the top 1500 or are charting quite low on iTunes. It's not really the format that drives single sales. Edit: Also the video isn't out yet, that should hopefully help a bit once released. Edited August 3, 20159 yr by Envoirment
August 3, 20159 yr Yeah, it's way too early to panic. As long as HAC radio play remains steady and she is picked up by Top 40, she should be good. I was just doing a quick check on things: Rolling in the Deep took three months to top the HAC charts. Leona's at 48 now, and I really hope the climb could be much faster. Really positive about upcoming TV performances. I hope Def Jam can book her James Corden, SNL, Ellen and others. She could also mix up performances. I think, for example, I Got You could work on Ellen; SNL may need something lyrical/stripped back, and Thunder could work well on other shows. Just my 2 cents.
