I would get behind an Aquafina win though, amazing entry. Same for Aeroche, glad both of those are being considered as major contenders.

Samples "ABC" by the Jackson 5. Recognized it once I heard the song. Been hammering it ever since.

Sigala would be my least favourite winner since I've been competing I'm afraid but Aquafina are due a win. I just wish it was with Glowing (the first time) or Runaway instead.

 

Middling odds for me again, but seems about right for Emilie tbh, I had to send it as I loved it so much and top 20 will be solid.

Exactly, it's so petty when people squabble over which entry is cheaper than another. Yes Conrad was on Firestone but it's not people will go "oh my god it's the guy who sang Firestone, instant 18!!!" the veto is there for a reason; it catches most of the worst offenders. So what if one or two songs do slip through?

 

This is an Internet forum song contest and people take what songs have been entered way too seriously :lol: Admittedly I've gotten a bit annoyed when my entries have been vetoed :P When people REALLY take the piss with the veto I understand it but like I said being a featured vocalist on a sizeable dance hit isn't something that automatically screams BJSC hit.

My post to Lee was in jest anyway :lol: I don't really think Conrad is that cheap or I wouldn't have sent him. Likewise, Sigala isn't cheap, I mean it samples a very well known track but I'm just trolling Lee :P

Yeah, let's not argue about it, they're both quite cheap by modern BJSC standards, will probably both be hits eventually and Lee and Joseph should both be ashamed of themselves.

No one made any fuss over Singerpurear's entry last month and that was a straight cover of an extremely well known song. Just saying. Yes 'ABC' is a well-known song, but 'Easy Love' is a pretty substantial reworking of it. Just because some elements of the song will be familiar to people doesn't make the entire thing cheap.

I wouldn't think Easy Love is that cheap if it weren't for the fact it's about to smash in the charts (still a BIG tune though and a highlight of the semi musically).

That admittedly is a slightly more compelling argument :magic: But was there even any indication of that happening at the time it was confirmed?

 

It is one of the best songs in the contest anyway regardless of how cheap people think it is ~ (same with 'Hold Me Up' to a slightly lesser extent tbh)

True enough, but never a hit song. Also the fabulous You Don't Own Me is also an old song slightly revamped, and also never a UK hit, or Prince I Wanna Be Your Lover ditto. As long as they be great toons it's all OK, go for it! :dance:
