Posted July 2, 20159 yr Well, after over 9 years of posting the chart, I will be bowing out as I can't make Fridays. So, if you have and do comment on the chart on Sundays, please be there for this Sunday so we can make it a good one! :D
July 2, 20159 yr I hope I have gone back far enough. First post on the First Chart Thread by Phil Mar 26 2006. With just 4 New Entries in the Top 40 this week its going to be close at the top between R&B star NE*YO's So Sick and Embrace's new entry Nature's Law. Embace have had nine Top 20 singles, their best, Come Back To What You Know, got no higher than No6. Can they improve on that today? I also hope that Embrace make it :) Good to have decent presenters this week too! Scott Mills is clearly the best presenter of the charts :)
July 2, 20159 yr Gonna be quite sad once the show's over this Sunday! I'll definitely be around to comment as per usual, let's try and get some Buzzjackers' tweets and texts read out too :kink:

July 2, 20159 yr Was that true about Embrace missing #1 because of an iTunes glitch? Gutted if so because Nature's Law is an incredible song, even though I sort of wish it had been sung by somebody else as Danny McNamara, as Popjustice so eloquently put it once, does indeed sound a little like a stuck cow at times
July 2, 20159 yr Author Nature's Law is a great song, but i'm pretty sure that wasn't true or exaggerated.
July 2, 20159 yr I will definitely be here for this historic chart moment. This probably won't top the sadness of Jameela's last chart show, but it could be close.
July 2, 20159 yr Nature's Law is amazing. Right back to their 1998 peak. Will try and be here for this most momentous of charts on Sunday.
July 2, 20159 yr Will be a sad farewall, Sundays won't be quite the same! Shame it looks like a fairly uninteresting final top 40 in terms of new entries but here's hoping we get a great #1 in the shape of Lost Frequencies to end a momentous run.
July 2, 20159 yr Friday charts are going to be crap when you think about it, Sunday afternoons just perfect end if the week time. Friday will feel strange as everyone will be hyper at it being the end of the week of work etc!
July 2, 20159 yr I will definitely be here if I can, but if not I will take a detailed read through the thread! End of an era. :(
July 3, 20159 yr Sundays will never be the same, Fridays is a pain in the arse to listen to the chart especially between 4 to 6pm. I wish it was later.
July 3, 20159 yr I must say, as a long-term chart follower, I never thought I'd see the day when we'd have no chart broadcast on a Sunday afternoon, or that the survey week would cease to run from Sunday to Saturday - at least until such time as either the concept of singles themselves ceased to exist, and/or there were no longer any charts being compiled. Even as recently as the beginning of this year I hadn't even contemplated that there'd be any such fundamental shift in chart compilation, with or without a 'global release day'. Whilst I can see the arguments for it, accept it has some merit, and can tolerate the change, especially as I don't listen to the show regularly any more, I still don't feel this move was strictly necessary, and although it's being spun as a chance to reinvigorate the chart itself, I fear it can only undermine interest in it further as fewer people will be available to hear it being revealed (at least live - which let's be honest is when it matters most). Also, with the announcement of SIX midweek flashes instead of four, we'll have an almost daily chart update and so come Fridays most of those who care will likely know what the final results will be in most weeks anyway, making the 'Big Reveal' element even less-relevant.
