Looking for volunteers to host the BJSC Re:LOADED contests! These are a great way to get some experience hosting a contest as all the entries are already chosen! An intro to BJSC hosting, the Re:LOADED events are a fun way to discover forgotten gems from the early years of the contest!

 

First up will be the smallest BJSC in history, BJSC IV, where just 20 nations participated. Also coming up is a chance to host the first ever FSR Rontvian contest, BJSC V and the contests that changed it all BJSC VI and VII. A history packed 4 contests featuring some amazing entries and the legendary Untouched track 'Smack Me'. The song that saved BJSC!

(Not really, but I'm more than happy to contribute histories and contest contexts to opening posts for hosts - I have a feeling I'd probably be far more useful that way!)

I'd like to volunteer to host Reloaded IV (official mission statement: get more votes in it than the original contest managed). :D

I'm always up for hosting more of these but given I've already hosted Reloaded II please do use volunteers who haven't done one before me. Good to see these are continuing, I do love them.

I actually prefer it this way - the only other obvious alternative is 'just pick your favourites from the first five/ten contests', which is really just a formula for redoing the first couple of Best ofs where everyone picks the obvious standouts. This way we get to do a full re-evaluation of all the entries (even if only about fifteen people are paying attention). And also it's pretty interesting revisiting the contexts of each contest, especially when compared with today - things start to get really interesting from X onwards.

Given it'll take us about two years to get to X onwards at this rate, I'd actually suggest we do the contests in rounds of two tbh - at least for IV and V, which were two quite small contests.

Do you mean running IV and V at the same time or combining all the songs from IV and V into one contest? I feel like the latter would make it easier to scrap together 10 songs that are vaguely worthy of points.

 

(Either way I agree with that as a measure to get to the more interesting contests more quickly if we must continue to do them in order)

I'm with Tyron on the benefits of one at a time. I have no interest in revisiting TBO as that just benefits the songs that were well known at the time and have since become well known. Going through them individually we get the proper gems that would be missed otherwise. As small as IV and V were I'd rather run them separately like the 3 we've done so far (i.e. in separate threads and slightly staggered, if only by 24hrs). Give the Pre-Untouched era the same treatment as the larger contests that make up the post-untouched era.

 

 

 

We should be picking up the pace of these spin-offs a bit more from here on. Assuming what I want gets the go ahead.

I'll keep an eye on here for who volunteers to host, but in case I miss it could whoever hosts drop me a PM when they're ready to get the thread together?

I'd actually quite like to keep a bit of a record of our history and as you continually prove every Feb/Mar you are the absolute king of these type of write-ups.

I would love to host, hopefully do a better job then when I hosted my own contest.

I think it will be very interesting to see what the host turnout is when we start doing semi-finals. I'd imagine it being the same as recent contests where we've had more than one host at a time.

We're looking for some more volunteers to host Re:LOADED contests in 2016, and we once again want to give preference to those who are yet to host any form of BJSC as it's a great opportunity to give members their first taste of hosting and everyone on our list of volunteers has now hosted something. Of course, if you have already hosted but do want to host then do tell us as once we've exhausted the "newbies" we'll go back to the top of the list of "oldies", beginning with Martyn as he was our first volunteer in this thread we've yet to use.

 

Re:LOADED 7 is scheduled to take place roughly between January 18th and February 8th, with two weeks for semi-final voting and one week for final voting. If you are free between these dates and want to host, then please post below!
