  • Katherine Jayne (Ultraviolenceland entry) is also fully AI I believe. Although not sure to what extent the lyrics to that or indeed this were written by a human. I felt happier not knowing this was A

  • Farmer Wardy would be proud.

  • 177 :: 4th A pop banger, thanks again for getting us to 4th last contest. My fave pop entry I've sent in a while (probably since Chappell actually) <3 -- Onto now 178 "We lose the night, give it

^ I knew you'd love this one Joseph!!

We came 3rd again joining KAS:ST who reached that placement in September last year & our 2nd top 3 position in 2021 (so far). Thanks to everyone who voted for it. The song outdid our expectations really.

Onto 134 and we've finally reached Summericia's 50th Anniversary (would have been August last year had we not had a couple of breaks in between).

I can confirm we will be sending a band I've seen live. We haven't gone for this genre in a long while also so looking to Q or Dnq in style *.*

So without further ado our anniversary entry is.. Halestorm with their edgy rock anthem 'Apocalyptic'. The song returns us to the rock/metal genre for the first time in a couple of years :o the track was a huge hit in my now defunct personal chart in 2015 reaching a peak of #7 and spending 13 weeks in the top 40. Finished 2015 as my 50th song (coincidence on the number without realising haha). I've also seen them live in 2018 at Brixton and they didn't even perform this song lmao but the fact that I saw them and have the album the track it's from is a worthy reason to send them as part of my anniversary entrant.

Our hopes for a qualifier are uncertain still as rock doesn't always qualify (look at KEYS&CAGES and Dorothy for example) that often but here's hoping the fact that some of the rockier nation's who landed in the same semi are able to help us out. Oh and our qualification streak is also on the line as we've matched our 5 Q streak from end of 2019.. if we do Q again we'll get a record best streak but we won't get too ahead of ourselves just yet!

Thank you all who voted Halestorm. We rocked out with a bang even if for Qualifying streak reasons it was a bit gutting to not make it.

135: MISSIO - I See You

Travelling to the Alternative genre this time with American Duo Missio representing Summericia.

It's a song I've returned to a fair bit in the past few months and decided to just go for it this month. I'm not expecting it to qualify at all but I'll keep some optimism as hopefully it connects with a good amount of people especially with the lyrics and video talking about ones mental health and the other person loving them through all their flaws and insecurities.

Oh my! I liked MISSIO back then with Twisted :o Such a bop and I hope I will enjoy this one too!

136: AJA - Red Button

#late post.. Summericia are being represented in BJSC 136 by 17 year old Canadian pop singer AJA. 'Red Button' is a catchy pop song with it's noticeable chorus line 'You get the red button when you call'. We are happy that this has returned us to the final after being absent for 4 months. We're hopeful for a decent result on Friday!

HYPE!

As previously hinted Harmonica tried to send this too. :kink: I'm glad that didn't cause it to be vetoed! Loving the attitude of the song, it has some 'good 4 u' energy which will surely bode well? Here's hoping!

Hey Jordan. I get the G4U comprison in some way. Glad you were a fan and yea oops I knew someone might send it so had to be on it quickly haha.

21st for AJA, thanks all who pointed it.

We are returning to TRANCE next month with a top 60 hit from 2002 *.*

137: The Mystery - Devotion (All I Ever Wanted)

Reaching back into old skool noughties trance with The Mystery and Devotion which reached #57 in the UK chart for one week. Funnily enough they also had another hit before that called... 'The Mystery' and charted at ... #56 for one week  (one for Jordan and maybe Bre for random chart stats! ) it's a banger anyway and I've been replaying it tons since April and considered it as a entry for then which would have been my anniversary but I had already secured Halestorm two months prior.

You can also find it on an old trance masters album from the year it came out, 2002 as well. It's perhaps my favourite entry this year so far and I can't believe I hadn't heard it till this year either so a big discovery for myself here. Hopefully the dance bloc will be on board 😍

Congrats to Aesthetica for winning and our 18 pointer as well (after getting only 5 from us in the semi as well *.) :cheer:

34th (35th if BM voted) in last night's final :( deserved better but with trance on the decline I guess it should've been expected (not that I realised that was the case lol). Still it did come 6th in the semi so at least was a satisfying result there although it does seem rather baffling when Dobago and myself did poorly in the final...

On another note The Mystery is now my favourite entry sent this year along with our smash from January in 'When Is The Future'. Adore it so much

our entry for 138 will be revealed soon.

I’m a sucker for trance and this was such a great discovery for me (I was surprised at myself that I never heard it before). With that being said no way this deserved to finish that low…and I’m more surprised at the fact that it managed to finish Top 5 in semis and then completely bomb in final :(.
The most memorable thing about this entry was the impressively potato level quality of the video :kink: (I did like the song though in all seriousness, gave it a point in the semi and a commiseration in the final - deserved to do a bit better for sure. I'm not generally as into trance entries these days as I used to be though, I think the genre is just a little too samey so the entries don't stick out/feel fresh as much any more, with occasional exceptions)

Yeah same, surprised I hadn't heard it all till this year which is bizarre as I must have heard somewhere years ago lol. Thanks for the 18 though.

 To be honest I haven't sent trance all that often and hadn't had the best track record when I did enter them lol I think this was my 3rd trance entry overall but I totally get the same old thing which is fair enough really and I did get that same feeling from a few of the other trance tracks this year too. I did have another trance potential too but I'll hold back on that for a while as epic as it is (imo).. Maybe enter it if there's a short trance renaissance or something!

138: Alice and the Glass Lake - Coals

Reaching back to an older potential of mine from 2016 for 138 with 'Coals' by Alice and the Glass Lake (Alice Lemke). I first saw this on school friend Kiesza's Facebook page at the time as she shared it to fans and explained that the song and video was Alice's farewell project before she passed away from Leukemia in 2015. It's really quite a stunning package and although I'm not expecting to come close to making the final (slight pessimism) I'm hoping it strikes a chord with some people anyway. The lyrics are inspiring too as well.

I do believe this isn't the first time she's been entered as she was sent in 2013 with a song called 'Luminous' that did make the final. Who knows like it could surprise but unlike my last couple of entries I'm not expecting much.

Video will be added later.

Unsurprisingly we kinda came 41st in the final and scraped through in the semi which I was surprised about anyway as I was expecting like 26th in the semi or something lol. We would have DNQ'ed anyway as we had a few non voters in the semi that were just outside the qualifying threshold. I wasn't really chasing a hit with this anyway as it was merely discovery only. Thanks to those who did vote it though as it's a lovely track.

Onto the next contest which will be hosted by Jadakissnia and well let's just say I think we could be back in favour with some nations again as we are opting for industrial cybergoth rave with a cool video to go along with it *.* surprised it's not been sent anywhere on Buzzjack yet as it's been around on Youtube since 2009!

139: Eisenfunk - Pong

Changing up from our last entry genre wise with Eisenfunk and 'Pong'. As mentioned before its a cybergoth rave track and the video is fabulous too. Perfectly apt for Halloween sort of time too.

'Let's play pong'!
