I see political editor of the Scum Harry Cole’s has quoted Johnson saying he won’t resign and has plans to ‘stand again in 2023’ thereby possibly giving away that the next GE could be in less than 18 months!

Hmmm, if we are talking about the Met Police, I'm sure that Johnson will get the outcome he wants. Wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw them.

If anyone thinks the Met will conduct a full and proper investigation then they're deluded. A few fines and not anyone high up and that'll be it. Boris and Priti will be leaning on Cressida right now,

good to see an actual previously serving member of the forces, the MP who helped the dying policeman in front of Parliament, Tobias Elwood, call out the lying useless blonde-bimbo git and send in his letter after his slander about Keir Starmer. Johnson of course has never served his country in any form,

Pardon? You can serve in many other ways than military forces. He's been London mayor for two terms then an MP, Foreign Secretary and now the highest office in the land, Prime Minster and First Lord Of The Treasury. If that's not serving his country I don't know what is.

Johnson is just trying to deflect with the Saville thing. He has no credible response to all the partygate allegations but any decent human being would have resigned by now. The only thing he is sorry about is being caught out. There are also quite a few parallels between him and Trump. On a slightly different subject, I wonder how all the partygate stuff is being viewed internationally by other countries.

I would say that the rest of the world sees the UK/Johnson as a joke..

The Jimmy Saville slur was interesting for several reasons - as mentioned by others in this thread, when similar slurs were made against Jeremy Corbyn there was little support from the establishment liberal media (James O'Brien) to debunk them despite the claims, being made by the right wing billionaire owned press, being obviously false. These people are now 'up in arms' about how such claims can be made and yet were nodding along when it involved someone they didn't particularly like. Karma's a bitch.

Secondly, there is a huge amount of unresolved material regarding Saville and his relationship with the Conservative party, with Margaret Thatcher (knighted, and invited to Chequers on several occasions..) which means it probably isn't the best idea for them to start dragging that up.

Didn't he used to go out with Carrie (Symonds) ? I wouldn't necessarily believe much of anything he writes about or says tbh. Gutter journalist.

Cole has now advised that was an error and he said 2024!

Oh the UK is very firmly the joke in the room

DW has reported far more critically and truthfully than the BBC, I’ve seen jokes made in a few local media outlets and even German companies are using it to make fun in their advertising

Yeh used to be on that other right wing site Guy Fawkes so he’s Tory scum!

Shell have just announced their highest quarterly profits in 8 years while many consumers are facing a massive price hike in energy prices in April. The government is expected to announce some measures to soften the blow such as £200 discount to all bills and other incentives for low income families. However, it is believed the discount being considered is a loan to energy companies which will have to be paid back by consumers at some point in the future when hopefully bills fall but there is no guarantee energy bills will decline in the future.

Surely, a lot more needs to be done to address the issue when energy companies are allowed to make massive profits lat a time when many consumers are facing dire choices of whether to eat or have their heating on.

As I've said for months, this crisis will be the undoing of the Tory Party. Their hope I suspect that by 2024, things will be "back" to normal and they will ride it out and can then probably try and say "they have lowered bills for millions". Those red wall areas will be hit the hardest and it will bite in to the pockets of the standard professional too. Just don't see a way out of this one with tax rises and inflation costs too.

The council tax rebate is good I suppose (although screws the councils over). Don't quite get the point of the loan though? Sounds over-complicated and not that well targeted and certainly for me, probably more of an annoyance. I'll be annoyed at spending more, but still able to pay my bills fine (and I suspect a lot of people the same too), I'd much rather that money go somewhere else.

Mm yeah, why take it out of the council tax when the big headline is the huge energy price rise? Basically, they'd prefer to keep the energy companies happy than allow council funding to rise with inflation.

I can imagine there'd be many who'd rather just pay this 'loan' back rather than have it hanging around for 5 years, during which time no doubt more energy crises will emerge. This is merely a stopgap, and a laughably poor one at that.

That's serving his own interests by masquerading as serving the country. If he really cared about the country he wouldnt continue to be the lying toad he's always been and wouldve gone by now. Everybody who's ever worked for or with him knows he's a workshy, ego-on-legs, lying, cheating, unscrupulous, attention-seeking spoilt rich brat who'd do and say anything for his own benefit. Including slandering a decent man in the only place he can say it without getting hauled into court and paying out damages.

Happy to wait and see what the general public who voted him in think of how much better off they are now as per his promises.

But, yes there are lots of ways of serving your country and making sure everyone is treated fairly is one way of doing that. They don't unless they see seats disappearing in front of their eyes. I also serve my country, by that token, by taking below average wages for a job that provides a service to the local community. Neither Johnson nor myself, though, have served in the Armed Forces, but my dad did 22 years which is 22 years more useful service than that chancer has done. And at least I have experience of abject poverty and don't rely on fellow rich political tosspots to afford me a luxury lifestyle....

Just saying cos I like to say it like it is..oops!

The Council I work for is coming up with ever-fanciful basically pay-day loan schemes using future income as collateral against a loan for current huge debts, thinking that money will magically start turning up after we get over the hump of the next few years while all the promised savings from merger don;t appear. Tories won;t be happy until there are no local Councils. Don;t believe a word they say about sound financial management because all the huge-money-making schemes of the last 20 years turned out to be huge cock-ups. Meanwhile, the last big store standing in town has just announced it's closing too, leaving a Ghost town centre with Primark and a a few neighbouring stores getting custom by being next to Primark. Nothing much else left. Still, the beach is lovely.

Oh don't get me wrong, I fully understand the squeeze on local councils, but feel a council tax rebate is easier than a tax rebate as it's by the household rather than the individual. Not great though, but I suspect a welcome policy for many. But feel the loan is a bit of con. Still feel they should have held back on the NI increase for another 12 months.

The hardest bit to take is we write off billions of money in fraud and goods and spend £500k for Liz Truss to fly on a Union Jack plane. Just all very dodgy accounting and doesn't look good, nor is it a good use of public money.

But in this crazy world (or country more like) we live in, things that are good for us (Nationalising and redistribution of resources) are seen as bad and evil and blatant fat cats getting fatter and corruptoin on a huge scale is unnoticed as they are "DOING THEIR BEST" (apart from Partygate).

Well not on Buzzjack obviously but in our brainwashed society.

How much more pain and humiliation does this country need to turn things around? And will it be too late?

I know it’s ridiculous, all brainwashed by the right wing media who tells them liberty will make you free to step on the weak to get to the top, then when you step on the poor fella you realise there’s a huge glass ceiling the rest of the powerful have closed off!

Why should a load of energy companies allocate energy from the same source and take ridiculous profits!

Not sure I agree with this. The reasons for energy prices going up isn't down to the energy companies themselves, it's down to Governmental policy and resources. For the short term benefits nationalising would bring, there's also a whole host of other problems associated with it, both in the short term and the long term. Ultimately for the tax payer, I don't believe nationalising the energy sector provides good value for money.
