Back on theme now Ive derailed it, that T. May is also effing useless in everything she does and says and promises and fails....

It's like in the Council when someone is just useless, sometimes it's easier to promote them than get rid of them so they become someone else's problem and bugger up another sections budgets....though in her case she was the least awful candidate, which is quite an achievement considering how awful she has been to date.

Or as it's also known, The Dilbert Principle.

He's a lazy hypocritical two-faced fake messiah. Labour MP's give him huge potential Tory-strangulations and he continues to say nothing much and do nothing much. Most invisible Leader Of The Opposition in my lifetime because he's frightened of losing his support if he says what he really thinks and wants (eg Brexit). And I LOOK for things political....

IMO Corbyn's only strategy seems to be to try & get into power by any means, fair or foul, and then hope to wing it once there.

Meanwhile, someone has let Norman Tebbit out of his coffin again.

what do you call a homophobe with a hotel on his head?

I think that makes the punchline a bit more acceptable than it was in the 80's?

Get on yer bike Norman, and pedal off somewhere where your views are more in line.

That wouldn't be Christianity, just for the record....

A fair summary....

Sounds like Cameron without the plastic face. And with a beard.

But Cameron achieved something Corbyn has not.

Causing economic suicide thanks to a desperate gamble to cling to power that he lost and we will pay the consequences for now for hundreds of years???

To the surprise of nobody with a brain the Tories have slipped out a couple potentially unpopular announcements at a time when they think we are all obsessed with something else.

First, Mayhem has demonstrated her commitment to her stated aim of reducing the size of the House of Lords by boosting the Tories' strength in the chamber. Second, she has abandoned yet another manifesto commitment. The manifesto pledged an end to generous tax breaks for fee-paying schools if they didn't do anything to help state schools. That has now been dumped. Instead she will just ask fee-paying schools (perhaps nicely, maybe not) to do something to help state schools. I think we can guess how this will work out.

I wonder where they learned that tactic from? :teresa:

I don't think any of us are surprised at this sneaking out of unpopular announcements.

Thatcher? It certainly happened a lot under her.

Looking into this further : In fact there will be just 9 new ones, partially balanced by 4 for other parties - and some of those 9 are Remainers, so they won't actually help with Brexit-related votes...

It still boosts their relative numbers. Also, one of the other four is for the DUP, again boosting the government's vote in the Lords.

Per the Guardian, still just 253 of 780 though.

Do we even know if the DUP support pact applies to the HoL too, though?

I'm sure they can be relied on to vote with the hardliners on EU matters.

As for the overall numbers on the Lords, the Tories are now finding out what every Labour government in history has faced - apart from the fact that most Labour governments haven't even been the largest party in the Lords.
