October 2, 20159 yr Really love Superheated, a great closer. Other favourites are Stray Dog and Tutti Frutti, definitely a strong album based on the first listen.
October 9, 20159 yr The Game really reminds me of Hard Fi, vocally. Especially something that could have gone on the second album. Unlearn this Hatred is a banging tune! Should be a single.
October 10, 20159 yr I'm still really enjoying this album, I think it's definitely their best since Republic and possibly even better than that. I'm now really intrigued to get the extended versions as I can see pretty much everything on here translating really well, New Order have always excelled at 12" versions of their tracks - particularly intrigued to hear Singularity, Unlearn This Hatred, Tutti Frutti, People On The High Line, The Game and Superheated... in fact, that's pretty much everything. :D
October 12, 20159 yr I'm still listening too. Side one is a winner for me (i.e. the first half) apart from Restless which I'm bored of now.
November 11, 20159 yr So I've found myself listening to this all weekend long and I really love the album in this form, it feels like listening to Substance where pretty much everything is allowed to build and flow perfectly. With this and the new Grimes album I feel rather spoiled music wise. Oh and in my normal style, I've declared the correct track order to be: 01 Restless 02 Plastic 03 Singularity 04 People On The High Line 05 Academic 06 Stray Dog 07 Tutti Frutti 08 Unlearn This Hatred 09 The Game 10 Nothing But A Fool 11 Superheated Edited November 11, 20159 yr by dandy*
November 12, 20159 yr Dandy* kindly provided me with the necessary ones and zeroes and I had a listen to a few of the extended mixes this morning. They really should have released the album as the extended mixes. It improves every song. Unlearn This Hatred had a modest extension and is wonderful.
July 18, 20168 yr Well I've finally seen New Order play live - they headlined Latitude last night and it was AMAZING. It was non-stop sweaty dancing which totally wore me out. They opened with “Singularity”, played “Plastic” and my personal fave “Crystal” and ended with an encore power-punch of “Blue Monday” followed by “Love Will Tear Us Apart”. I am still buzzing right now!

I am still buzzing right now! They are one of the best bands live because they turn it into a dance gig. Perfect Kiss is always a highlight - the breakdown and build up is wonderful. The frog samples always make me so excited. I've seen them twice in the last 5 years and both times they did gigs that were up there with my favourites of all time.

Yeah I think I finally know what a nineties rave in a field would have been like. They played that and another fave was the Planet Funk remix of “Waiting for the Sirens' Call”. Like you say though - one big dance mix.
July 19, 20168 yr Have you seen the Chems live? That would have given you an idea of what a rave was like.
July 19, 20168 yr Have you seen the Chems live? That would have given you an idea of what a rave was like. Nope, sadly not. When I was in my heavy gig phase they were in their We Are the Night nadir - but they have since returned to form so I def need to rectify that. I have seen Underworld live in a field, and from what I remember it was absolutely brilliant, that was Bestival 2008 I think?
July 19, 20168 yr Shouldn't New Order be in the dance forum? Edited July 19, 20168 yr by Mountain Marquis
July 19, 20168 yr Definitely not! And I'd happily add to the recommendations of seeing both New Order and the Chemical Brothers live, they're excellent!
July 19, 20168 yr No Ethan! New Order do not make tracks with a verse/generic chorus/tropical breakdown pattern! 😃
