December 19, 20168 yr They wont last much longer in my opinion. Simon Cowell has pushed and pushed them and it hasnt truly paid off based on how much promotion and marketing they have received.Maybe Simon will get Gifty to join in  For a girl group, they've done very well.. Their album has sold decently and they've had two top 30 hits from the album worldwide. They've been on a world tour, won numerous awards and they have the most viewed video of the year in 'Work from Home'. Most girl groups could only dream of having a little bit of that success, it's only once in a blue moon that they break through.
December 19, 20168 yr Without the huge push that Cowell have them they wouldn't have achieved half of what they have. Every girl group got the same support the outcome would be different for so many.
December 19, 20168 yr I don't think we can talk about Simon pushing them like it's a bad thing though - of course he wants one of his artists to do well! In all fairness, bar giving Gifty half their discography to sing on X Factor, I don't think they've had a noticeably bigger push than any other artist on a major label. The main reason for their success is that the music is solid, it's given them three UK top 30 hits out of three this era and Work from Home is one of the biggest tracks of the year!
December 20, 20168 yr I'm not sure I buy the Simon pushing them too much thing either, after all if he was THAT desperate surely they'd have got an X-Factor performance like they did with BO$$ I do think it's the music, it's not that they are a standout amazing group with loads of charisma and appeal, they've had two very on trend songs with Work From Home (which of course hugely caught on) and Flex, and then That's My Girl is one of those undeniable storming pop songs. I do think they've been quite lucky to have the right songs this era, of course they could easily do that again but I just don't sense much of a future for them, especially minus Camila. Camila has her own Wikipedia page now, she is getting that solo impact x
December 20, 20168 yr I have to say I'm not bothered because my favorite member was all 4 of them, since Lauren came out as bi, loves her greens and I love her husky tone, it's probably her, but I kind of want to be Normani or Dinah and Ally is cute af.... I never enjoyed Camilas vocals or dancing... But come in to the world as Taylor Swift 2.0 if you will girl. Edited December 20, 20168 yr by Juliano
December 20, 20168 yr Author The latest essay posted by the remaining four is certainly interesting to read claiming Camilla refused to show up to meetings and even goes as far to say the label tried intervening.
December 20, 20168 yr It's getting messier than it should be  “Over the past several months we have consistently made every effort to sit down and discuss the future of Fifth Harmony with Camila,” the message reads. “We have spent the past year and a half (since her initial solo endeavor) trying to communicate to her and her team all of the reasons why we felt Fifth Harmony deserved at least one more album of her time, given the success of this past year that we’d all worked so hard for. We called for group meetings which she refused, we asked L.A. Reid and the label to step in and try to set meetings, which again, she refused. We even went as far as group counseling which she did not show up to. So no, after months of rejection from her and her team, these supposed lengthy conversations in fact never happened, although we pleaded. We have tried with exhausted efforts and hearts to keep this group alive as the five of us, and we want it to be very clear that unfortunately those efforts were not mutual."Tbf, they got that "one more album"!
December 20, 20168 yr its clear she didnt want to he there but its not really something she should be oenalised for.
December 20, 20168 yr The reason I could never get into 5H was it was painfully obvious they don't want to be there. Good for Camilla for calling quits on it, I imagine the other four will have one more album in them and then call it a day too, or keep the group going slowly but all do their own stuff 90% of the time. Well Worth It and Work From Home were catchy.
December 20, 20168 yr its clear she didnt want to he there but its not really something she should be oenalised for. I think she absolutely should be penalised for it. It's very unlikely that the 4 other girls took a disliking to her for no reason. Using a fanbase, label resources & time is something she should be penalised for. From what I've read, Camila was desperate to be solo from the get-go and things turned sour when she took an opportunity to get into Taylor's squad. She's had choices all along, She should never have joined a group if she didn't want to be there. Nobody forced her to join, she saw it as her 'in' to the music industry and dropped them when all signs pointed to her being a solo hit. It's a bad idea to put solo acts together at any time, because they all want to be the star. It's been entertaining to see, especially in interviews & red carpet appearances. The difference is, you can see that the four remaining girls come together in the end because they know that they're stronger as a unit.

She still put in the work/time etc for two albums and if she didn't want to continue after that then so be it. We've all been in jobs we've not cared for whilst waiting for a better one to come along, or at least I know I have.
December 20, 20168 yr Tbf they all want to be soloists. Hence why they ALL auditioned for XF solo. Camila obviously saw an opportunity, wanted to give it a go being in the band (as they all did), and it's obviously something she doesn't want to do any longer. From the sound of it, she wanted out a long time ago, but was asked to stay for "at least another album", they got that album and I'd much rather have her leave now if she was unhappy. Whether you think she's talented or not, she is the one who everyone talked about and was constantly praised as the one with "star power". She is the one who will make it as a soloist. I don't think it's fair to blame her for wanting out of something that she doesn't want to be involved in.
December 20, 20168 yr How can you not see that is selfish, though? Yes, they all wanted to give it a go being in the band and the other 4 are still there.. She's very talented! Though, personally, her tone grates on me and I don't think I could listen to a full album of just her vocals. I agree, she was the one touted as the star and I don't know how long the group will last without her. They had the opportunity on the third album, with Camila in tow, to do big things and work with major producers. I think the reason the remaining 4 girls released a statement like they did is because Camila has obviously been drinking the Swfity Kool Aid and read the snakes guidebook on how to play the victim. "I was shocked to read the statement the fifth harmony account posted without my knowing" - Well, didn't she leave the group? Why would they consult her about a post the group were making about her leaving? It's not as if she granted them the courtesy of telling them to their faces that she was leaving. Both parties made it very clear that Camila told them in November that she was leaving; She plays it like "they absolutely knew I was leaving so wtf?" and they play it as "they told us she was leaving and we did what we could to try and get her to stay". It's clearly a slap in the face to the girls when she acts like it's fine that her rep told them she was leaving and she didn't want to hear any more about it. She may have told them on tour how she felt but from what I witnessed during the tour, they were barely speaking.. Camila was disconnected. That said, we don't know why she wanted to leave and was so adamant to get out. I choose to believe that it is simply because Camila wanted to be a solo artist all along. I wouldn't hold it against someone if they absolutely hated their time in a group and had to to get out, but it's not like they'd been completely restrictive of her solo career. I find it very telling that she was able to 'ride it out' until she was contractually able to leave. If it was so bad, why not just get out? They couldn't sue her if there were extenuating circumstances.
December 20, 20168 yr she wants to be a soloist fair enough but i rly dont think many ppl will know her in a couple of years lmao, there is talent there but there is absolutely nothing different about her that can't be obtained from someone better - at least in that case u cud say 'oh at least she's likeable' but not this time!!!
December 20, 20168 yr she'll be attached to a couple of big hits or 'big hits' (depending on how well she takes off) and then fizzle out
December 20, 20168 yr There's always two sides to every story and we're seeing all of this from an outsiders perspective. There's probably elements of truth and elements of "saying this to make me/us look better" from them both. For whatever reasons, Camila wanted out now, after almost 5 years. Maybe that'll prove to be the healthiest decision she could have made for them both, in the long run. The back and forth statements doesn't stand to make either side look too good, so they should probably nip this in the bud now. What's done is done, and if these artists want to have a good chance of continuing to succeed then they've got to positively move forward now and focus on themselves. Sometimes it's easy to forget how young they all are. In girl group terms it's probably a miracle they lasted this long as a group of teenagers put together through circumstance.
