I love Fight Song. I haven't heard What Do You Mean? but I'm predicting his next track will start with another word from the What/Where/When/Why family.

Bieber number 1, absolutely gutted. Shows how rigged the singles chart is these days.

Yeah, what is this le Justin GAYber shit at #1, must be rigged, surely le REEL MUZIK like Le Beetlez is le REAL #1? xDDD

I imagine it's also the first song to debut at #1 on the streaming chart?

Yes, Daft Punk had a 28-1 rise (which otherwise would have been a #1 debut) because of being staggered over the old 'Sunday-Sunday' release week. Otherwise One Direction debuted at #2 last month.

84K for Bieber. 32K contribution from streams.

and with that streaming figure I guess he overtook 1D as the fastest streamed song?

I agree, there's no way this can't be fixed, he did terribly on every platform this week and there's been like no hype that I've seen?!

I hope it's something along the lines of "Who Are You Off Out With?" to continue his run of tracks sounding like questions from a stressy mum.

Great to have WDYM #1 (not that it's any surprise of course), one of the best #1s of the year :D

How dare that Bieber crony fix the charts and steal number one from REAL music acts, I demand the OCC at the very least do a recount! :D

In all seriousness, being somebody who wasn't always massively into the charts I actually didn't know until this week that he'd never had a number one before, What Do You Mean has by far sold the most this week and regardless if you like Justin or his music he deserves the number one position. I'm just curious now who'll win in the battle between him and Sigala next week, nobody has retained number one for a while now.

I still expect Sigala to take #1 next Friday, it should be #1 on iTunes shortly and even though it is way behind on streaming it should begin to catch up now that the single has actually been released. The margins will be pretty tight though, maybe less than a thousand (say 73K to 72K). Bieber looks like then reclaiming the #1 the following week unless anything massive comes out at short notice..

Does anyone know what the record is for chart entries by an act before a #1? Bieber must be close to the top of said list surely.

As an aside comment, Bieber is definitely one artist most casual fans would be surprised to find hasn't had a #1 single up till now. Trying to think of the next obvious artist yet to hit the top spot...

50 Cent is always the one that shocks me.
