November 5, 20159 yr yes the 'uptown' influence is there stylistically but it doesn't sound-a-like melodically, bare in mind how many 70s songs 'uptown' itself rips off/copies beautifully. in a bizarre way i think this is quite an idiosyncratic choice of lead single for an x factor contestant. having heard the whole thing now and knowing the potential she has to bring it with a viral-ready live perf on sunday / the asda promotion this should definitely be challenging for top 3 three if not number one...
November 5, 20159 yr also we need a big brash and utterly fabulous BRITISH female pop bop to rule the waves/charts. fleur is the first likeable prospect to come about in YEARS. tho lmao @ her having only one co-write on her album!

Tbh, I'd rather an album full of bops than an album full of mediocre songs that she had co-written.
November 5, 20159 yr I detect sarcasm :smoke: I'm obsessed with 'Focus' Misha, nothing's gonna compare to that song right now soz. I'm not being sarcastic.
November 5, 20159 yr Tbh, I'd rather an album full of bops than an album full of mediocre songs that she had co-written. is that what would have happened had she wrote anything on the album?! I only make the point because I swear didn't she make a point on x factor of saying how much time she "spent writing in the studio" and "lived to write music"?! to end up with only one co-write suggests a really distant and disconnected eventuality... STILL BEEN THAN RITA THO
November 5, 20159 yr Incredible! Got it on repeat, no other songs matter right now. This needs to be huge!
November 5, 20159 yr Having played the snippet and the live performance so much it is hasn't come as much of a surprise how much I love this. It definitely gives me Love Machine meets Uptown Funk, but it is done so well and is just such fun. We need some fun back in the charts and this injects just the right amount. So fab.
November 5, 20159 yr I kind of think the live version is more enjoyable than the studio version :o But the song is amazing nonetheless, I am very happy she got that first single right ! Now let it smash !

STILL BEEN THAN RITA THO I'm not sure. I'm just saying that regardless, I would rather an album full of bops than an album full of mediocre songs. I don't know if it was worth taking the risk of co-writing all her songs on her debut album at 27 years old knowing it is probably her last chance to break; particularly when she's got the backing of world class songwriters willing to write for her. By the looks of it, she made the right decision where 'sax' is concerned. It's very much her sound despite her not writing on it. I think songwriting is overrated anyway. Of course, not everyone can write a 'Bohemian Rhapsody', but most of the songs' in the charts right now are not particularly articulate - nor have they ever been. Some artists just have 'it' despite their inability to write or pick hit records. Case in point: Rihanna. (Despite her anomalous 'floppage' this past year). Of course, it's a nice asset to have and it's done Adele a lot of good with regards to her credibility, but not everyone's is an Adele type artist. I'm sure if this album is a success, Fleur will have the opportunity to delve more into her songwriting. Edited November 5, 20159 yr by MishaB
November 6, 20159 yr Fleur said I'd love it. She was wrong. It feels like another song. The chorus instrumental is fun though. Maybe a grower?

November 6, 20159 yr It really is a great song and an instant hit/BIG pop moment. Doesn't sound as similar to Uptown Funk as I originally thought it would but it's influence is of course very heavy throughout. I really don't know how people can slate that and then hail this to be song of the year material. The references to the sax is the only thing that's still grating on me though, the fact that it's even in the album title is really annoying, because it makes the whole thing too knowing rather than natural.
November 6, 20159 yr I know I'll end up loving this but I find it really annoying even though I do like it. I know I'll love hearing it in a club but that sax drop is already doing my head in from that advert and the song has only just premiered.

Awkward that it includes no actual sax. Those are definitely trumpets.
