It's really not good at all, is it?

I love all the strings in it but yeh, pretty dull on first listen.

Radio 1 mixed it with 'Earth Song' which sounds spot on.

I agree, it's so dull. It's barely even "there" enough to be shit, it just drones on and on and on...

I seriously nodded off... pretty terrible, one of the weakest ever?
It's not bad I don't think, it just doesn't really go anywhere. Shame, I was expecting a bit more.
This is painfully crap, even by Sam's normal low standards.

I find it more bearable than most of his own songs! Musically it's fitting but for the most part his voice is just offputting. When he hits the higher notes instead of his usual droning it's better I think.

Still really don't want this to be #1, least of all because of all the great Bond themes that have missed out but I'd rather this man didn't acclaim another #1 to his name.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Aly, I love to see a Bond theme at #1. I can't believe out all the Bond themes this is the worst in history and its going to #1 :drama: In 3 years time another Sound of... winner will be recording the next Bond theme.... please NO!!!!!! Unless Years & Years get the gig that I could live with.
The instrumental and production is wonderful - so I have to pay credit where it is due. But as a song it really does just go nowhere.
Looks like I'm in the minority here but I think it's a beautiful song. Would love to see this go to #1

It's not a bad song by any means it's just his voice irks me so much. Not at all helped by the fact radio's whoring of him for 2 years now :drama:

Hopefully he will do an Adele and vanish for a few years at least.

The atmosphere, production and the music are all wonderful but somehow Sam Smith's voice keeps fluctuating from one low to another high note. I'd prefer him to use normal male voice instead of using falsetto all the time.
Plodding and feels focus-grouped. It could have been far more soaring and I'd accept it but this, this is just dull. Maybe, just maybe, songs shouldn't be written in 20 minutes (and then subsequently boasted about).

I'm not impressed, I don't come to a bond theme for something so, well, plodding as that. I see what they were going for with the slightly more subdued and suspenseful vibe (and I gather that the film it's attached too follows a similar theme) but I just don't think they pulled it off here.

Still, credit where it's due, it's not as bad as 'Another Way To Die'

I don't mind it really and suspect I could enjoy it even more after a couple of extra listens. An improvement on "Skyfall" for me.

'Another Way To Die'

*Die Another Day

Another Way To Die is leagues ahead of this for actually doing something musically interesting.
