the two lowest dnqs deserve better! glad to see Quintessa thru especially tho, I've had that on my playlist for a while and had assumed I found it through bjsc before ha!

happy Zak is thru but WHY do my failed artists always succeed for other people when my entries were just as good?? outrage

TRIFOSKI! :cheer:

Greenfroze though :nocheer: I quite liked that song :drama:

It's old but it's fantastic, HandS, a fabled BJSC entry that never was from days gone by has finally, with Tirren's return to the fold, gotten its dues and is off to the final to win hearts and minds 4 years on from when it was first spawned in a moment of pop glory. Or something like that.

Meanwhile, after a one month blip, N-Lazone are back to getting the fluky qualifiers, hands up if you predicted this getting through. I certainly didn't.

raises hand

Semi-Final 1:

N-Lazone: Zak Abel - "Say Sumthin'"

Avicii's psychic weave strikes again *.*

'No Romance'

I predicted N-Lazone through, something tells me they might be coming for the bottom 2 in the final yet again though

DNQ: 30th - 22 points (less 6s)

Séyetana: Scandal - "Stamp!"

Yeah, I'd better pre-warn you all now, this is going to contain a self-indulgent rant/sob :D

Stamp! is now my worst-performing entry ever. I won't try and hide it, this is absolutely one of the most disheartening moments I've ever had in BJSC. To see such a strong, happy song that has been, with no challengers, the best song of this month for me, get tossed aside worse than anything I've ever entered before, that really hurts. I don't want to be melodramatic, it is just a contest, and I'm resolving to push on and do these results because I still care about the contest but stuff like this makes it really hard. Especially as I found this probably the weakest semi this year and I thought my girls really stood out in this, listening through, nothing came close. And it can't be usual to have such an opinion disconnect. If I'd come closer to qualifying at least it'd have looked like more people would have supported it. To those that gave them points, thank you. But this result is really hard to take and in some ways it's fortunate that I've been assigned this as I've had a few hours to get over it. I'd be inconsolable if I'd just learned this. Also I definitely feel solidarity with those who've also come this low in a semi before. It f***ing sucks.

Now that's over with, onwards. :(

Oh noo </3 Certainly deserved much better than that. At least you can take the dubious honour of being the first person to announce your own DNQ though...
even I rted Iz' ha entry 15th so idk what happened here

The next two qualifiers to go through are:

Jadakissnia: AK & LYNX f/Veela - "Virtual Paradise"

Thelonia: Aprés - "Chicago"

Jadakissnia have recovered fine from last month and are back in the final with a fairly lovely song to go with it. Get back on form Jade!

Thelonia are also through after being cruelly denied last time. No such opportunity this time, I am 99.9% sure that there are no errors here. Chicago is a great example of how sampling can be done right in dance songs, with a very Bakermat vibe throughout. Definitely one of the better dance songs in this semi and as such I'm pleased to see it through.

Iz :(

I really did not expect it to come this low.

Edited out a bit that I was probably not allowed to say

It's a shame people didn't get on board with 'Stamp!', a stand-out entry we really could've done with in the final

YAY for both of those, 2 of the best in the semi  Was pretty confident Jadakissnia would be through (big return to form for them) but Thelonia seemed more uncertain. Hope they actually hang onto their qualification spot this time... :kink:
So thrilled with that after the disastrous showing of last month! Especially with a song that I am adoring as much as this. Thanks guys!

DNQ: 29th - 22 points (more 6s)

Skall: Animal Collective - "Alvin Row"

Animal Collective may be big names on the indie scene but clearly that hasn't meant much to Buzzjack as Alvin Row doesn't get anywhere near the level of polarising support I expected it to have. It is 12 minutes long, as we all know by now. Maybe just a bit TOO experimental for BJSC.

YASSSS Jade & Lewis <3
I think Cameron is a 100% defo DNQ.

bitch.
