Something very fishy about R. City getting to #1 already, looks like a bunch of sales have been taken off 'Infinity' - maybe iTunes accidentally added the album pre-orders onto it earlier? Their lead in the USA has suddenly got much smaller as well.

327. Charlie Puth - One Call Away

Yesss. After falling to about 680-something early this morning, I'm glad to see this is rising back up. Really hope he gets to push this properly as the next single. The lyrics are really simple, but it's such a beautiful song

It is, but not until mid-November (after the album releas)

This guy is a TERRIBLE lyricist and his songs are so corny.

This EXACTLY. The guy's got a great voice but the lyrics to 'One Call Away' sound like they were written by a 14 year old!

24 Carly Rae Jepsen Run Away with Me

Nu peak for this. I'm certain it'll go top 40 next week, quite comfortably.

 Wonderful to see. I hope it will climb into the iTunes Top 20!

Given the current iTunes no 1, I think we can conclude that OA/OS works if people actually like the song. The majority of the current iTunes top 10 is OA/OS releases, so I really can't see what there is still a fuss about it.

It seems it's more to do with radio not dumping tracks so early like last time and giving them a chance, which is good to see.

Ultimately, pretty much anything can do well if it's pushed enough and if enough people get to hear it.

If everything was forced to go OA/OS then radio stations that are still wary of supporting those types of songs would have to get over themselves or they'd have nothing to play.

Fingers crossed OA/OS isn't dumped again at any point. I love having HQ versions of songs available to buy immediately.

The new Sia song, Alive, is on Spotify but I can't find it on iTunes. Will be interesting to see how it does.

The success of OA/OS depends on if record labels care about first week chart position peaks or overall sales. Even now, it's easier to promote a one or two week top 10 hit rather than a long running #25 isn't it?

Dance songs are mainly the ones with held-back releases now though, the October releases for KDA, Philip George and Sigma show this. 3Beat as a label too if we include the held-back Stylo G song.

 25. MNEK/Zara Larsson - Never Forget You

Looking good for this to have some longevity, didn't expect it to even go top 100 on iTunes when it was first released

Sia's new song sounds brilliant on first listen, and it does sound very Adele a la "Rolling In The Deep" but in terms of chart success, no idea

Itunes release date tomorrow I think, it's up on apple music though

This for #1 please  (or, er, anywhere in the top 100 would be satisfactory enough for now ~ Really needs to be a proper single and smash tho).

yep I think Ministry Of Sound and 3Beat are the main labels refusing to do OA/OS (not surprising at all for them). I doubt they'll change unless they're forced to as they're the type who really care about first week chart positions
