And yeah, the total shrugging off of all of this (having denied it right up until it was all revealed!) feels a bit off really. Like, great attempt at trying to chivvy along the story, but come on now.

This is amazing.

And there was me thinking that the Popjustice contest was the one chock full of Drama.

But do people really vote for the country rather than the song? I find that notion quite ridiculous, we're not sixteen year old cheerleaders voting for prom queen anymore

I mean, look at my last votes, I think Bre is a bellend, and I gave him some points.

Yes obviously it doesn't MEAN MUCH in the grand scheme of things, but then that's exactly what Lee was hoping the reaction would be. At the end of it, it's a bit shit and pathetic to a. ask people to change their votes so you'll win an online contest, and b. then do so anyway when they say no.

things like that honestly annoy me, of COURSE bjsc and this site is only an online thing but trust and integrity ARE important and i think in any community, no matter how small / important / fun / WHATEVER, that's two elements that rly need to be there or else there's no point to it? that's just my thoughts so

And honestly, a hands up moment wouldn't have suddenly made it okay, but it would've come a bit closer to a 'right, admission done, sorted let's move on' ending. But when we're getting bollocks like THIS

Well apparently this has got something to do with a country changing votes last contest (which of course I will get in blame for).

The amount of countries that can be dragged in general during " Vote Tampering" is rather hilarious and it's something that i'm sure a lot of people have witnessed but can some mods not be hypocritical please.

It makes you far less inclined to treat it like the petty incident it is and more something that's about the principle that this isn't how you behave in life. When you're caught red-handed, you don't then start going on the offensive, trying to drag other people down with you, and then shrug it all off and start mocking it all once you're down a cul-de-sac.

I know, I know. In all seriousness (and bringing up some receipts that are long outside the returns policy) Lee has a HISTORY of fixing things similar to this. Back when I had a bit more time on my hands, I pulled him up on another fishy set of results. I present you with these:

I know it wasn't as SACRED as the BJSC, but essentially it's all happened before and I wouldn't trust the results of anything Lee has hosted tbh. Yeah, it's not big deal, but it's all a bit pointless to fix things on the internets.

I think my next BJSC entry will be 'Can We Fix It?' from Bob The Builder :)

I really hope that comment is dripping in sarcasm :o

I've been reading through this in little chunks, I haven't really felt the need to comment on it until now, yea it's a bit of a crappy thing to do but at least it's been discovered now and things are being done, whether we're aware of everything or not, I'm sure anything that affects us as participants will be brought to our attention.

As someone who only joined the contest this year, I've always voted on the song and not the person, partly because even now I'm not 100% sure on who's country is who's  but it is a song contest and the idea behind it is to find new discoveries, if people just vote for their friends, (maybe they don't even listen to the songs at all? ) then that really defeats the purpose and I'd question why members like that are such loyal participants, it's not like we don't have other opportunities for people to be recognised for their personality etc, we literally just had a massive popularity contest

I am aware that I probably do give points to certain countries most months, but if you share similar music tastes and countries are known for sending a particular genre etc then it's likely that will happen and I'm sure that's the case with a lot of bjsc countries.

all of this throws so much into doubt so much. can any lounge mods confirm how the rate was added up, how do we know no tampering occurred during this?

The results of the rate were added up by both Lee and Rob and they both had nearly identical results in the end so unless they CONSPIRED to tamper with the results they were genuine. The circumstances with the voided rates and whatnot does admittedly LOOK fishy but I can assure you these decisions were made long before anyone knew Lee was going to win / come within a few points of winning.

:'( What have I ever done to u

In honesty I think the more likely scenario for tampering would be people being pestered to give him high marks privately.

But yeah, this is one of the reasons why I really fucking hate 'voidings' or refusing to accept any votes after deadlines when acceptance doesn't interfere with results timings. Nobody bringing down the decision is ever totally objective on the matter, and at the end of the day the most honest result is the one which has the most people contributing to it.

Oh I agree with you. As I've said before, I was always against voiding anything, but none of the other mods agreed so I couldn't do anything about it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(You may well be right about the first part as well but, while a bit POINTLESS, I don't think that's anywhere near as bad as physically changing people's votes (with or without consent), the kind of people who'd agree to it are his friends anyway)
