Seems crazy to have a system in place where Apple and Spotify physically can't seem to manage the data in time to deliver accurate figures. Makes a mockery of the chart, as I wonder how many times in the last few weeks these upweighted figures have cost somebody a top 10/40 placing on a close week? Probably a few times at least.

I think they can be pretty accurate, after all they get the data eventually to corroborate. However anything that diverges from the weekly pattern could be either overestimated or underestimated.

Having said this no upweigting was applied to that 5 day chart week in July which was RIDICULOUS.

Yes, the problem with streaming started with the change of chart date. Quite why that has proved so difficult for the streaming sites is a mystery to me.
I wonder if the problem is that Spotify just has SOOO much data to trawl through and they haven't found a good way to automate the process (considering that their chart updates are never consistent and reliable). There'd be at least 10,000 songs played per second that they have to correctly categorise the country it's coming from, and then they have to frequently distribute the data to all the chart companies that need it. Nightmares just thinking about it.
