I've forgotten all about the contestants with all this going on

Will make up for it being not a great year (for me anyway)

Really hope Ben performs well and his album gets a boost.

Could have done without Adele but at least it on the Sunday.

Or it could just be because we're in the "Guest Performers" thread so there's not much talk about the contestants going on. :)

So surely you want to showcase the biggest artists on the X factor final and that isn't Leona by a long way and hasn't been for a fairly long time.

http://www.officialcharts.com/artist/2060/leona-lewis/ and thats not taking in to account her worldwide success...

Regardless of recent successes to say Leona isn't one of the biggest artists from X Factor is just silly..

What I meant was that the contestants aren't that exciting so I forgot there was actually a contest on the weekend as well :)

Yap, respect. I wish Adele could have sang WWWY but Hello is fine.. She didn't do anything in the UK (and still broke any record) so it's about time.

What about that special she had with Graham Norton?

But yeah, this is huge. :o

Speaking of Years & Years, I am hugely surprised that at some point they didn't get a slot with 'Eyes Shut' considering how huge they've been this year and the single sounds like it was tailor made for something like this.

Ben Haenow is rumoured to perform "Slamming Doors" at the final, which will most likely be the third single off his album

It's been confirmed Hadji!

I'm really sad / disappointed that we're not getting performances from Years & Years, Rachel Platten or Charlie Puth, all have had such incredible years.

Much as I'm dying for 'Stand By You' to get some exposure, all Rachel's had is a fluke/fleeting #1 single.

(Mind you, you could have said the same thing about The Wanted in 2010 when they got to perform).

Meghan Trainor performed 'All About That Bass' on the X Factor last year and she wasn't exactly a huge star, 'Stand By You' is dramatically picking up in America after just one performance, I'm disappointed she's releasing her album on the 1st January but I don't think she will be the one hit wonder I thought! :o

It is a shame. I'm just glad Ben Haenow isn't performing "Something I Need" or "Second Hand Heart" again. As for Fleur East, I hope she doesn't perform "Sax" again and as for Little Mix, I hope they perform "Secret Love Song"

Why on earth would he perform 'Something I Need' again?

Ben and Leona duetting... For Christ's sake, Simon.

I'm not happy that Simon is more interested in flaunting his own acts than getting stars who are truly in demand, and even though I'm excited for their performances I don't like that Ben, Fleur, Little Mix and One Direction, who have all performed already, are getting a slot; I was hoping that Simon would throw the guests-performing-for-a-second-time-this-series thing out the window this time around.

The obvious omission is the Biebs, who really should be there over Ben and Leona. As said by others, Years & Years and Taylor Swift could've been given a slot, although I'd say that Y&Y would've been more suited to one of the ordinary results show rather than the final.

Anyway, I'm glad that Adele is there.

People complaining about Leona. Srsly guys, how can you not establish why she is there. I really don't care for the girl at all, but she's the most successful winner ever. Why SHOULDN'T she be there?

Also, I'm immensely pleased we don't have random American artists like Rachel Platten and Charlie Puth. Why should we? What a brilliant showcase of UK music at the minute (and Ben Haenow) and some of the talent that X Factor actually has provided. I'm not a massive 1D or Coldplay fan but their talent and power and current relevance cannot be denied!

By having so many X Factor acts on in the Final this time, I guess that they're trying to push the idea that the show can and does make you into a big star and Leona/1D/Little Mix are all major examples of that. Then they're going to try and push last year's finalists more to show it can still happen. :P

While it would be nice to have more variety, the other two acts are the two of the biggest in the world right now. It's not as though Years & Years haven't performed elsewhere and, while Rachel has had a hit this year, she hasn't really attracted the same attention as Meghan, plus Carly hasn't exactly had an amazing year.

If Ben & Leona and Little Mix & Fleur are performing together on Saturday, I think there should be one more performer that day (there were six last year). I'm assuming they're still working through the duet performances as they've not announced those yet?

I've written and erased three replies now in regards to Leona, so I will just state the obvious instead: she's not a 'big star'; she had one big era in 2007-2008 on which her legacy as an artist rests, a mediocre one in the follow couple of years; but all in all she's done nothing of note in the past 7 years and the fact that she is still the most successful winner of the show states one thing: winning The X Factor doesn't mean a thing. They have Little Mix as an example of winners who have went on to have a much more fruitful career -- why do they need Leona? The contestants will look up to her as somebody with outstanding vocals who did win the show, and this is why her doing one of the duet performances would be warranted. In the end, Simon has shoved her on Ben Haenow's performance as a last resort, and I wonder if he's doing it to try and benefit Ben (after all, they got Kelly on the single; perhaps this is a continued trend of trying to market Ben alongside an acclaimed female singer). I think this is cheap and poor of Simon, and my issue therefore lies with him and not Leona.

However, Leona's lack of success in recent years alongside her inability to sell anything only shows that she's got no reason to be at the final in 2015, winner or not.

This post will annoy Leona's fans here (I assure you that is not my intention), but I'm sure you can all see merit in what I'm saying.

Not really.

I'm in no way a Leona stan, so I will leave it to those that are more passionate about her to give you stats, figures and whatever.

But for however long the show runs there will ALWAYS be a place for her on the show. She will never NOT be relevant to the show no matter how little she is selling or how away from the public eye she is, if the show ran another 20 years (lol it won't) she will always be relevant to the show. How can you not see the merit in that?

Its funny becaise they keep banging on about it being such a big deal to win yet the last 5 years theyare shoving 1D in our faces lo if anything it should be little mix getting that much exposure they are the only winners that are still relevant single and album wise after 4 years if they want toshowcase that winning actually means something

In all fairness though, only the winner is guaranteed a record contract. Whoever comes second could end up with no contract at all (it just so happens that every 2nd place act has been signed though lol).

Leona did well with OMS a few years ago so she has had hits outside of 2007-09 era you talk about. Thing with Leona is her lack of charisma I'm afraid, it lets her down a bit (although I think her personality is lovely from what I've seen of her as I like that type of girl).
