Ariana Grande's forthcoming album would be her 3rd I believe ;)
I believe that it was "House of The King" by Focus, not one of the greatest instrumental songs of all time, "Sylvia", that was used as the theme tune for "Don't Ask Me".

Sylvia, which is indeed a greta tune, must have been used for something else then. I'm sure it was the theme tune for a television programme

As Elvis Presley has his 12th UK No.1 Album I thought that I'd add these 2 Lists here.

NOTE -- Whilst the UK is the biggest Record Market in Europe, the biggest on the Continent of Europe

is Germany. It is interesting to note that Elvis Presley only had 1 No.1 Single in Germany. That was

In The Ghetto, in 1969. Ironically that was not a UK No.1 Hit, (No.2). He only had 1 No.1 Album there

- The King, in 2007. The 3 non-German Acts with the most German No.1 Albums are Madonna - 12,

(33 Weeks at No.1), & The Beatles & Robbie Williams each have 11 No.1 Albums there, with 119 Weeks

& 46 Weeks at No.1 respectively.....

Thanks for that, Colin. It's interesting to see how modest Elvis's chart record was in Germany. Maybe he should have visited Hamburg.

THE EVITA FILM SOUNDTRACK -- (1996 - No.1 in 1997)

Sometimes The OCC does not count Evita as a Madonna No.1 Album & sometimes they do.

In the Madonna Section, on their Site, they do not List Evita in her Albums.

They credit her with 11 No.1 Albums & 29 Weeks at No.1.

So, it is up to 'the individual' if you regard it as a Madonna No.1.

If you don't, then the Top 4 UK No.1 Album Acts would look like this:,

1)...THE BEATLES - 15 (174W)

2)...ELVIS PRESLEY - 12 (64W)

3)=ROBBIE WILLIAMS - 11 (34W)

3)=MADONNA - 11 (29W)

The Evita issue is all a bot of a mess really. The Guinness and Virgin books both include it under Madonna's name. I think including it is a bit of a cheat, so I prefer the OCC's decision here.

If it was included on the Artist Album Chart, then it should IMO be regarded as an Artist Album.

If it was included on the Artist Album Chart, then it should IMO be regarded as an Artist Album.

It's the fact that it is counted as a Madonna album that I consider to be a bit of a cheat. It should have been something along the lines of "Original Cast Recording" as per Les Miserables. If Madge had appeared on (almost) every track, it would have been different, but she didn't.

An Original Cast Recording is allowed into the main, (Artist), Album Chart.

But a Film Soundtrack is not - unless it is credited to an Artist. Or an Artist

& Various Artists. If it is just credited to Various Artists then it has to go

into the Soundtrack Chart. (They used to be put into the Compilation Chart).

This can be best illustrated by Mamma Mia! The 1999 Original Cast Recording

was allowed into the Artist Chart. It eventually Peaked at No.12, in 2008.

However, the 2008 Mamma Mia! Film Soundtrack was only allowed into the Compilation

Chart. It was No.1, in that Chart, for 11 non-consecutive Weeks.

Evita is usually credited to Madonna & Various Artists - which is why it was allowed

into the Artist Chart, & why several UK Chart Books regard it as one of Madonna's

No.1 Albums - giving her 12 UK No.1 Albums.

The Bodyguard is regarded as a Film Soundtrack by Various Artists & it was only

allowed into the Compilation Chart. It is not regarded as a Whitney Houston No.1

in the UK. But, in the USA it is credited to Whitney Houston & Various Artists, &

it is regarded as a Whitney No.1 there.

Saturday Night Fever is counted as a Bee Gees No.1 Album in the USA, as it is

credited to the Bee Gees & Various Artists. In the UK it is counted only as a

Film Soundtrack, by Various Artists, & the Bee Gees do not have it counted as

a UK No.1 for them. It was allowed into the main UK Album Chart in 1978, because

there was no Compilation Chart at that time. The same for the Grease Soundtrack,

which was also No.1 in 1978.
