Posted November 19, 20159 yr WE ALL KNOW HOW MUCH OF AN EFFECT R1 PLAYLISTING HAS TO THE OFFICIAL CHARTS B-) ... So....I thought I'd start a topic on songs that missed the R1 playlist for 2015!! <_< Here is a selection of my favourite songs from the past few months that didn't make the playlist  : BEN HAENOW FT. KELLY CLARKSON - Second Hand Heart CHRIS BROWN - Zero DJ SNAKE FT. BIPOLAR SUNSHINE - Middle DMITRI VEGAS & LIKE MIKE FT. NE-YO - Higher Place -- [TOTD] ELLE KING - Ex's and Oh's** HAILEE STEINFELD - Love Myself** KLINGANDE FT. BROKEN BACK - Riva (Restart the Game) KSTEWART - Ain't Nobody** -- [TOTD] LETHAL BIZZLE & STORMZY - Dude LOST FREQUENCIES FT. JANIECK DEVY - Reality -- [TOTD] LUNCH MONEY LEWIS FT. CHLOE ANGELIDES - Whip It OMI - Hula Hoop -- [TOTD] PETITE MELLER - Barbaric SHAWN MENDES - Stitches** SNAKEHIPS FT. TINASHE & CHANCE THE RAPPER - All My Friends** -- [TOTD] THE NEIGHBOURHOOD - R.I.P. 2 My Youth -- [TOTD] [TOTD]: indicates this song was R1's TRACK OF THE DAY at some point. **: indicates this song realistically still has an outside chance of being added in the future. SO WHICH OF YOUR FAVOURITE SONGS MISSED THE R1 PLAYLIST??? :( Edited November 19, 20159 yr by mack25
November 19, 20159 yr HAILEE STEINFELD - Love Myself is my favourite off that list. I adore it. Fergie's L.A Love was also a bit of guilty pleasure this year, which missed the playlist. And I loved Elliphant - Love Me Badder Edited November 19, 20159 yr by Joe.
November 19, 20159 yr Ben, Elle & Shawn from those listed. I would've said 'Geronimo' as that had been played several times on R1 (by Greg who even thought it sounded like a hit) yet got no support.. mind you it does sound more R2 friendly I suppose~ Edited November 19, 20159 yr by Rob S~
November 19, 20159 yr Author ADDED TO THE LIST: KLINGANDE - Riva (Restart the Game) HOW COULD I MISS THIS ONE??? :o
November 19, 20159 yr Blonde feat. Karen Harding - Feel Good (It's Alright) - TOTD This has been my biggest annoyance on this subject all year. Both artists' previous singles were big hits, Radio 1 were all over Blonde before this and they made it TOTD... what the hell?
November 19, 20159 yr I was actually thinking of starting a similar thread at some point! For me personally, my favourite ones this year that R1 didn't playlist are: Blonde feat. Karen Harding - Feel Good (It's Alright) - completely share Aly's disappointment on this Petite Meller - Barbaric Elliphant - Love Me Badder Conrad Sewell - Hold Me Up Sheppard - Geronimo I'm sure there are others but those are the ones that come to mind. November 19, 20159 yr Hurts - Some kind of heaven. For some reason Radio 1 have decided that Hurts shouldn't be promoted. And to have the cheek to say that they weren't going to promote them as they "had more important tracks to promote". I guess they weren't expecting Hurts to leak it onto Twitter  . I think Nicole Sherzinger was told the same thing too. This was a couple of years ago and they've not promoted a single track since.
November 19, 20159 yr Hold Me Up by Conrad Sewell is the biggest one for me this year :( Such a huge missed opportunity.
November 19, 20159 yr 'Ain't Nobody' by Felix Jaehn was an odd omission too, especially given that it was pretty blatantly going to be hit, and it's not as if they have a huge aversion to covers since they had hammered the foul 'Show Me Love' not long before. The 'Dear Future Husband' snub was quite unexpected too, since it was following two big hits that they A-listed.
November 19, 20159 yr In very strong wishful thinking, I thought there was an outside chance Madonna's 'Living for Love' could get C-listed after the fuss fans kicked up about it being rejected and the fact Diplo, MNEK and Alicia Keys are all involved on the track. From what's mentioned in this thread, Elliphant's 'Love Me Badder' is my favourite of all the snubs and this felt like a particularly "uh, why so?" moment.
November 19, 20159 yr iLL Blu feat. James Morrison - Lonely People Nelly feat. Jeremih - The Fix Snakehips feat. Kaleem Taylor - Forever Pt.II ^The three main ones for me, Snakehips in particular! Chocolate Puma feat. Kris Kross, Shystie & Roya - Step Back (Get Down) Chris Brown & Tyga - Ayo Derroro & Chris Brown - Five More Hours Fekky feat. Skepta - Way Too Much Gyptian - All On Me J Hus - Lean & Bop JME feat. Giggs - Man Don't Care Kid Ink feat. Dej Loaf - Be Real Maverick Sabre - Walk Into The Sun Solo 45 - Feed 'Em To The Lions Could have realistically playlisted these, but chose not too.
November 19, 20159 yr Actually I would also add 'Alive' by Sia to the list - I know it was on the C-list for a week but I doubt they gave it many spins that week so it was effectively snubbed for whatever reason!
November 19, 20159 yr Agreed with Elliphant, that was especially frustrating. :( I was hoping that'd be the big breakthrough hit for her. With OMI they must have viewed him as a given one hit wonder and didn't see any point playlisting it, although I thought it was a given they would following one of the very biggest hits of the year. It makes me wonder, how are people supposed to get the chance at any sustainability if radio programmers have that sort of attitude? Edited November 19, 20159 yr by mr_pmt
November 19, 20159 yr Hasn't the video for Conrad's single only just been released? It may be that they'll give it a proper push in the new year. Do we even know whether it has actually been serviced to UK radio yet?
November 19, 20159 yr Hasn't the video for Conrad's single only just been released? It may be that they'll give it a proper push in the new year. Do we even know whether it has actually been serviced to UK radio yet? Yes it has been surfaced to radio, but I think it's still got a few weeks until impact.
November 19, 20159 yr Yes it has been surfaced to radio, but I think it's still got a few weeks until impact. Isn't the new single 'Start Again'? Whereas the single being discussed in this thread is 'Hold Me Up'. Unless I've got that wrong
