November 21, 201510 yr Jokes aside, I wouldn't be surprised if they changed from 3 to 2 Nows a year in the nearish future. Who's NOW? They will get dropped
November 21, 201510 yr Author I can't see past a second week at No.1 for Sorry on the singles chart, in fact Hello's run is probably over now, I can't see it getting back past Sorry on sales or streaming now. Agreed, if Adele's album had been on Spotify, I'd say that she would have easily taken it. I know Hello is still on Spotify, but it would have had a huge boost if the whole album was there.
November 21, 201510 yr I think for an album, not to put on Spotify immediately is quite a clever strategy, she maximises sales and after a month or so, it will be launched to the streaming sites so those who really don't want to buy the album can listen to it if they want.

Indeed it is, but I was just agreeing that it might result in Hello not returning to #1.

November 21, 201510 yr They're presumably the inflated ones that were reported at the time, because it also gives the 696k figure for first weeks sales, which we know should be 663k. This article (although its four years old) has it at 763,735: http://www.nme.com/photos/50-fastest-selli...13617#/photo/50 Is it incorrect or is that for the full 7 days, while the 663k figure is for the few days up to Sunday?

Yeah, that's after a full week, and they must be the correct tally. I believe it's 663k for the first chart week, 764k for the first 7 days and 898k for the first two chart weeks.
November 21, 201510 yr Well that's my prediction surpassed! May be a tall order for her to beat Oasis' record going by the first day but you'd be a fool to write her off from that instantly (Plus I assume a lot of those physical sales were made before her TV show last night so that number will only keep spiralling upwards!) Feels so bizarre seeing sales like that as it doesn't feel like that many albums have even sold this year  Great to see we'll get a year end album actually released this year as well. I'd probably say this will be number 1 until at least the end of January particularly after the post-Christmas sales dive making it a barren few weeks for new releases.
November 21, 201510 yr What did Be Here Now sell in total, out of interest? Just interested what proportion of its total sales its first week and day made up.
November 21, 201510 yr Gobsmacked, and I'm not sure why because it's Adele...but 313k in a DAY, in 2015's album climate, without streaming included... That's 3 times more than any other album has sold in an entire week!
November 21, 201510 yr That's 3 times more than any other album has sold in an entire week! and you said people will rather wait til the weekend to buy a copy :P
November 21, 201510 yr Not sure why the OCC say Take That's Progress sold 217k on its first day when MW at the time said it was over 235k. What did Be Here Now sell in total, out of interest? Just interested what proportion of its total sales its first week and day made up. About 1.9m, which is a bit disappointing considering.
November 21, 201510 yr and you said people will rather wait til the weekend to buy a copy :P They still might... :teresa: Only Ed & Sam have sold more copies in 3 *months* than Adele did in 24 hours! :o
November 21, 201510 yr About 1.9m, which is a bit disappointing considering. Thanks, I'm guessing 25 could get up to 2.5-3m in the long run. Can't see it being as huge as 21, but then that was a once in a lifetime success so it's not like anyone would expect it to.
