(Without streaming)

Streamings not usually included this early in the week, alot of NE will be between 20-40 so alot will drop as the week goes on.

Great sales by Adele for ONE day, hopefully itll sell well throughout the week and not just for 2/3 days and she gets something like 800k that would be unreal.

Adele once again single handly saving the music business

I heard half the album yesterday in HMV, and I really don't get the hype, that aside if Adele had put her album on streaming sites she could have done an Ed Sheeran on the singles charts, as it is the singles won't do as well as they could have except for Hello

I'm not even a fan but *.* at those sales even though they were expected to be huge. I'm also thankful she'll save us another year of the bland Ed Sheeran topping the EOY chart.

I wonder where Maroon 5's lazy singles collection has flopped in at.

Thats the thing the album was always going to sell hugely in week 1 but if the reaction is poor it may not sell as much long term - that why 21 has sold nearly 5 million because it sold alot in the opening weeks then just kept selling over a 2 year period due to word of mouth and lots of radio support.

Pleased to see Adele getting good album sales! :D

Although it seems to be pretty low key, I should imagine Now 92 had a good day yesterday and will finish the week in the region of 175-200k, which would be a good result.

313,000 copies in a day works up to:

13,041 copies in a hour

217 copies in a hour

3,5 copies in a second

I hope Tracy Chapman does well on the album charts, far superior singer to Adele imo. Enya will do quite well, I wonder how well she'll do against Adele in Ireland

I think '25' having a lengthy stay at #1 is a much safer bet than 'Hello' doing the same, once we get into late November and especially December the album chart kind of locks in place and there's very little movement.

Adele only selling 3.5x the previous highest one-week sales of the year in her first day, I'm rather worried for her :s (speaking of which, has anyone commented on the fact 1D's actual sales were lower than Elvis' the previous week? :P)

313k is of course an incredible amount, especially as it's 'only' been on pre-order for 1 month.

Adele getting dropped and the Now series being discontinued

Hence why I mentioned that it's without streaming...

They'll never discontinue the NOW series no matter what

What about once the chart slows to a complete stop by 2020 and we have 38 non-movers every week? There'll be nothing to fill it and average Joe won't want an album full of flops and songs they've never heard. The writing may indeed be on the wall for 'hit' compilations.

Jokes aside, I wouldn't be surprised if they changed from 3 to 2 Nows a year in the nearish future.

Or they would do what many compilations do around the world and just make it a single disc and reduce the price. The brand will be around for many years to come in some form I think, they certainly will want to get to #100.

MASSIVE sales for Adele, but not as much as Oasis sold on Day 1 (356K for those interested)!

One almighty record remaining in tact :D

Will be interesting to see where Kylie ends up next week. I suspect 1D will drop to no3 or no4 in albums.

They did it in 1985-1987 when The HITS came along and also in 1990 and 1991

I can't see past a second week at No.1 for Sorry on the singles chart, in fact Hello's run is probably over now, I can't see it getting back past Sorry on sales or streaming now.
