I thought his XFactor host skills werent that bad, the press went after him because that's what they do. Mind you his 'by the curtain' audition stuff was absolutely cringeworthy.

 

A bit early to say his star is fading although the show may have caused him some damage.

I don't like the new single very much. Never Been Better is an enjoyable and solid album but would be my least preferred album by him to date. That said, it is a good album. I am unsure if his star is fading,but, i think he should be cautious. I have said this in a previous post, i feel he really needs to be on the mark with his next album and really go for it to reverse any form of decline. I feel if he does this he can stretch his career for a few more years. He has carved out a very solid career for himself to date and has achieved so much.

 

His X Factor presenting skills, were not that bad, people forget it was his first major TV presenting role and like anything new, we are all nervous until we get to know the job. The press love to kick someone when they are down and in general the press are all for negative X Factor posting ( they will run riot with the show when Louisa's chart position comes out). For the level of experience he has i think he done very well, and i think the chemistry between himself and Caroline is wonderful, they are so natural around each other and you can tell they genuinely get on so well, hopefully, some day it is a happy ever after for them as i am fond of them both.

This is funky but the lyrics are awful, and not in the sort of way that makes you enjoy the song more either. I like 'Kiss Me' and will probably grow to like this, but I'm disappointed in this repackage (and this era in general) when the album was quite strong.

In my opinion they should have gone with If I Stay. It would be a nice winter ballad.

There is talk from him in The Sun today of doing a Christmas album as well as his fifth album next year. I'd so be here for an Olly Christmas album!

This isn't bad, the "baby come home" part is quite good but the "stevie don't wonder, stevie knows" is ridiculous. I'd say probably his worst single.

 

Oh, and Seasons was actually really good.

Yeah I actually really like this! It is quite cringy but oh well, I never really look for great lyricism in songs, it's just a good, catchy little bop.

The 7th Heaven Mix of this makes it worthwhile.

Seriously can anyone actually see this having an impact? I think the album version climbed to around #147 on iTunes and the 2 separate remixes seem to have done nothing, I can't see it picking up streams but maybe in the dire sales climate it could become a #74 smash?

Well it's hardly right to be shouldering the blame at him. Management and Sony did this before with 'Beautiful to Me' so it's really their doing more than his, and the man deserves a break over a Christmas as much as any other popstar.

 

To be honest, with hindsight it was a nice idea at the time to have more than one single come from this repack but I rather feel all the negative stuff that's come since he hosted X Factor has rather overshadowed everything else.

 

Even if he leaves to focus on the next album - which personally, I'd prefer he did - the press will twist it one way or another to be 'Oh, he was fired, he's useless, blah blah blah'. He can't win either way if he leaves or doesn't.

It's his career though :lol: if he's not happy or wants a change he needs to say so.

The whole "negative press" thing is a poor excuse too, fact is, it's a shit song and people don't wanna buy it.

This is one of those songs that is so objectively terrible but also annoyingly catchy. I really need it not to be a hit or hear it ever again so it doesn't grow and give me minor inner conflict.
