December 27, 20159 yr Author I will eventually edit in commentary to all those songs later in the week as I didn't get round to it yesterday but anyhoooo top 50 time now :cheer:
December 27, 20159 yr Author #50 ~ 1PXkCAiV0Ww (07.12.15.19.20.16.13.15.21.30.34.40.X.R40) 13 Weeks Okay so we're now into the Top 50 and it's time for quite possibly the ONLY Metal Band/Song to feature. Halestorm are a band I've been heavily invested in since I heard 'A Familiar Taste of Poison' last year and ever since that song I've been checking out their other songs which are all decent to brilliant but it wasn't till this stonker of a rock song came out in January, that was the turning point of me becoming a massive fan. The song peaked at #7 and spent a healthy 13 weeks in the top 40 in the beginning of the year... This was the lead single to be taken from the bands 3rd studio album Into The Wild Life! December 27, 20159 yr Author #49 ~ wf_ySBlZjKw (34.X?R31.32.20.23.12.08.06.06.14.12.16.16) 13 Weeks No.49 is the 1st of 3 appearances from Electro-Indie pop triplet Years and Years, this is the latest track off their huge selling #1 album Communion, 'Eyes Shut' a sweet ballad. It was nice to see a different side to them after the first few singles and for me it proves they can produce nice slower songs when they need to! #48 ~ X1ixUjZvM4c (28.26.28.14.12.09.13.12.06.04.09.18.30) 13 Weeks I REFUSE to put the actual video to this as i dislike that pic caption on Meghan there for some reason. I didn't mind this initially hence why it peaked at #4 on my chart but it really hasn't held up well imo and it's by far the only single of hers I wouldn't go back to much. December 27, 20159 yr Author #47 ~ 7FmPEoC7vg4 (07.06.04.05.08.09.15.19.23.26.32.35.39) 13 Weeks #46 ~ UL_EXAyGCkw (11.13.21.27.40.X12.R23.21.12.02.03.07.17.31) 13 Weeks / #10 in my 2014 EOY! Next up is two MOR songs I guess, Killers frontman Brandon Flowers wishes he could change at #47 followed by the hue Australian #1 smash 'Geronimo' by Sheppard. The song kept getting pushed back... I've actually lost count how many times but it was close to a year that I do know lmao. It got supported by Radio 2 in April but still didn't make a huge impression on the charts over here, only making it a mere #36. The song however managed to repeak on my chart reached no.2!
December 27, 20159 yr Author #45 ~ 29GWMT0GB6s (02.05.09.09.11.13.14.19.25.30.33.31.37) 13 Weeks / #62 in my EOY 2014 chart! Getting an EOY position higher than last year is 'Up' a trumendous pop collaboration between X Factor's Olly Murs and ex Disney star turned pop star Demi Lovato. Demi still has 2 more songs on the way :) #44 ~ JGhoLcsr8GA (23.06.03.02.05.07.09.19.26.28.31.36.36) 13 Weeks #43 ~ 8SeRU_ZPDkE (26.23.27.31.38.X16.R02.01.01.02) 9 Weeks No.44 comes from the returning Macklemore with his good old friend Ryan lewis. Macklemore had such a strong year back in 2013 having 'Same Love' and Can't Hold Us' both finish top 10 in my EOY chart. This one sadly doesn't match quite those heights, probably due to being released in September. 'Downtown' is a messy jam though and was a brilliant way to come back. There was some doubt he'd even go top 40 with any more songs tbh! Grace is the younger sister of Conrad Sewell and just recently her remake of the Lindsey Gore hit from the 60's made airwaves in the UK after being featured on an Christmas Ad, was helped even further by an X Factor contestant (Lauren Murray) performing it and all in all solidified it into becoming a top 5 hit just this month. The song 'You Don't Own Me' is a Australian #1 and is looking to continue to dominate the UK charts going into 2016!
December 27, 20159 yr Good Times is perfection  Both Sigala tracks are also amazing, great year for him! Cheerleader one of the classics of 2015 we will all look back on. Rather Be still here now being 2 years old is very impressive. Dear Future Husband is probably my favourite Trainor track these days. Up & You Don't Own Me my other picks from the last update.
December 27, 20159 yr Author #42 ~ bPJSsAr2iu0 (26.07.08.11.11.14.12.13.18.30.34.37.40.35) 14 Weeks #41 ~ DQF5aHVOW5s (09.05.05.08.06.10.21.27.40.37.39.34.34.40) 14 Weeks 'At 42 we have the last song from Irish musician Hozier, last year 'Take Me To Church' only managed to make it into the bottom end of the top 200 so both 'Someone New' and 'From Eden' have both massively outdone that. 'Someone New' actually surprised me a bit as I wasn't expecting myself to like anything of Hozer after the dull first single but it did and it has a great melody, a song I'm still not even reportedly bored of. Sigma and Ella's summertime smash 'Glitterball' just misses out on the top 40. Poor Ella being #51 and #41 this year respectively with her only two appearances. Yeeesh! Edited December 27, 20159 yr by Rob S~
December 27, 20159 yr Mirror Man is so good even if I barely listen to it anymore  Glitterball is also one of my favourites of the year, so fun and amazing  Dear Future Husband is so fun and You Don't Own Me is incredible
December 27, 20159 yr Hi Rob Love Someone New, I don't give it as much attention as it deserves because I always forget about it but it's really good. Love how boppy it is and more upbeat, a great melody indeed like you say. Yay at DFH making an appearance here, everyone seems to have gone against it now for silly lyrics or somehting but it's CLEARLY all done in jest and it fits with her cheeky persona, a nice pop track and very catchy with a really fun video too. I love it!
December 27, 20159 yr Author #40 ~ 9iiDlU4rhlY (31.05.09.08.11.07.03.08.13.15.20.24.33.40) 14 Weeks Starting to big 40 off now is the last of 2 showings from The Killer's frontman Brandon Flowers who took a few years to get round to his eventual 2nd album which shot straight to #1 in the album chart. This is by far the best thing from it... 'Can't Deny My Love' comes in at 40 on my smash hit countdown!
December 27, 20159 yr Author #39 ~ GKd-4N9jIvo (14.04.04.02.02.05.09,17.25.23.27.32.32.39) 14 Weeks #38 ~ LjppksDmjUs (24.11.11.09.12.13.12.12.17.18.30.30.27.33.39) 15 Weeks In at 39th is the highest of my BJSC entries and strangely enough was the only one of my entries since I joined the contest in August not to qualify. Regardless of whether it would do well or not in BJSC I fell in love with it instantly. Maggie has mentioned that the lyrics is about someone she lost recently. It's a dark ballad that just oozes goosebumps and is just so so strong <3 Now to someone who did well in the last contest held in November but with a different song lol, Alex Winston's Kate Bush esque voice is a real charm on 'Careless' and I think that's exactly what drew me in as I wasn't as keen on the first two listens. The more I listened to it the more it got better! Edited December 27, 20159 yr by Rob S~
December 27, 20159 yr Author #37 ~ 03O2yKUgrKw (22.06.06.07.10.16.18.20.20.25.24.22.31.34.38) 15 Weeks #36 ~ igNVdlXhKcI (31.18.12.13.17.14.12.06.05.05.08.09.15.26.31) 15 Weeks At 37 we see a dance song that stormed into the top 10 officially back in February but sadly didn't stick around very long 'Outlines' by Mika Mago and Dragonette. 'LET'S MARRRRVVVINNN GAYE AND IT AWWWNN' :music: Yup supposed couple Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor hooked up to sing this cheesy nonsensical track that bounced it's way to #1 in the summer. However the song didn't hold up as long as expected because majority of the world hates it to death. I on the other never minded it, yes it corny, yes the lyrics are awful but for me Charlie definitely improved from SYA just for the fact he wasn't continuing to go down the Sam Smith part 2 route vocals wise. http://image.silive.com/home/adv-media/width620/img/entertainment_news_national_desk/photo/19254413-mmmain.jpg
December 28, 20159 yr Marine Gaye yessss sucheck a pop tune I love it  Mike Mago was okay not amazing God sections so far btw epically Sigma
December 28, 20159 yr Someone New was remarkably very good after his horror debut single I won't dare to mention. Outlines was a lush dance effort I was loving at the end of last year.
December 28, 20159 yr Author #35 ~ 4NhKWZpkw1Q (38.18.09.05.04.05.06.10.08.07.15.20.30.38.37) 15 Weeks #34 ~ 5XR7naZ_zZA (29.21.23.23.16.13.07.02.04.07.10.16.23.25.38) 15 Weeks In the next batch we see the next appearance from Australian singer, Sia with 'Big Girls Cry', a beautiful song that features the same child actress girl (whatever her name is LMAO). Galantis have had a big year getting two top 10 hits in the UK and one of them enters here at 34, the euphoric chipmunk dance floorfiller tune 'Runaway (U & I).
December 28, 20159 yr Author #33 ~ qDc_5zpBj7s (03.02.03.03.03.06.09.08.09.09.11.18.28.33.40) 15 Weeks Up next is Meghan Trainor... AGAIN. This is now her 4th appearance within the top 80. Really good going ehh? 'Lips Are Movin' is in fact the only other of her singles to have topped my chart after 'All About That Bass' did back in October of last year. Even though every song she's done sounds like a carbon clone of her first single. I've found that this is the only one that does it well. It's so poptastic and fun and nowadays I actually think it's my favourite of hers along with 'Better When I'm Dancin'.
