October 23, 20168 yr Author Yeah. I'm wondering if Renault got a return clause in that Hulk contract 😂
October 24, 20168 yr Another solid result for Alonso with fifth place there. Do you see McLaren moving further up the grid next year?Â
October 25, 20168 yr Author That would be a shame because I really like Sepang as a circuit. However they make a very valid point, they've gone on record as blaming Mercedes-Benz for the drop in interest. Their TV audience has fallen off a cliff too. The irony is, the major sponsor of Merc is Petronas, the massive Malaysian oil firm. You'd think they'd be overjoyed at the exposure!
October 26, 20168 yr For the first time ever. Sky Sports F1's coverage beat Channel 4's coverage of the race in ratings with an average of 984k watching the race to Channel 4 only averaging 841k. The combined audience of 1.83m is the lowest Formula 1 has averaged in the UK since the 2006 French Grand Prix with 1.82m. More on here: https://f1broadcasting.co/Â
October 26, 20168 yr Author Reasons Palmer won't have a drive next year #3252859215125236 - His team mate is a far better racer. mStbZlJozVE
October 28, 20168 yr Author So apparently RBR have lured Exxon Mobil from McLaren (after 21 years) to replace Total as their fuel/oil supplier. McLaren are lining up Castrol/BP to replace them and bring the brands back to the sport after a lengthy absence.  Final twist of the knife, Renault are said to also be lining up a switch to Castrol/BP! Leaving us without a member of the Total group (FINA and Elf also part of group) supplying fuel/oil to F1 for the first time since at least Renault's debut in 1977.
October 30, 20168 yr What do you make of the penalty that Verstappen got with Hamilton going wide at the first lap?
October 30, 20168 yr Author An absolute pile of shite. The stewards are so badly inconsistent. Hamilton should have been penalised for that if Max was. Or max shouldn't have been penalised because Hamilton wasn't. It's completely unfair and biased. Every time we see this happen. You get drivers getting away with moves and others getting penalties for the same exact thing in the same race. Look at KMag last weekend. He got a penalty for a move others got away with. Â The FIA won't penalise Hamilton though as they've gone on record saying they'd rather he won than Rosberg. Max has been their favourite punching bag since he arrived. The sports governance needs completely overhauling.
October 30, 20168 yr Honestly, Vettel has the fuse the length of a toothpick, loses his head over anything - makes for some hilarious viewing tho. Really exciting finish there for third. As for the title fight well Brazil has a habit of throwing a sizeable spanner in the works so hopefully it's an unpredictable race with a large douse of rain.
October 30, 20168 yr Author We'll never get races like Brazil 2003 & 2004 these days though. The past couple of years everything has gone all soft and anything more than a light haze involves safety cars or red flags. I understand there having to be a reaction after Jules, but two things could have prevented that 1) don't hold a race in a f***ing monsoon and 2) don't let a crane onto the track without a Safety Car controlling the speed right down to a very safe level past an accident site. The FIA have reacted poorly and not learned the right lessons.
October 30, 20168 yr Yeah it's always frustrating to see a race start behind the safety car when conditions aren't even remotely treacherous, especially when they burn up loads of laps of the race. I do love Interlagos though as a circuit, and even in the dry we've seen some great racing in recent years. I suppose the virtual safety car has been a moderate success at least although by no means a foolproof solution (plus the majority of times I've seen recently it just precedes a full safety car anyway) - is it next season they're on about standing starts on the grid after a safety car? That could spice things up at least...
October 31, 20168 yr Author I believe i did read that. Will be interesting as restarts have become such an uninteresting affair. When I first started watching F1 every time there was a SC Restart there was some overtaking and drama. They really need to push a hard reset on F1 and take us back to 05->07 regs. We need refuelling, better tyres, a tyre war, gravel and better aero regs. I like the new engines and I'm glad that development is opening up again. I do miss the old V10 and the development war though like when Renault brought a screamer to the 2005 finale that was designed to last the race and no more to win them the WC.
October 31, 20168 yr Author Vettel handed a 10 second penalty making the final results: Dani Ric - 3rd Verstappen - 4th Vettel - 5th  DELICIOUS just deserts for Vettel there.

There was no such thing as a safety car when I started watching F1. Personally I'd like to see a return to standing restarts, a restriction on in car electronics, a further cap on the teams' budget to level the playing field a bit and to do away with some of these bland soulless tracks that have no character - Who wants Bahrain and Yas Marina when you could have Paul Ricard or Imola. You could at least try to model new tracks on classics like Brands hatch or Adelaide and provide sufficient safety. Oh and while you're at it take out those awful chicanes out and restore Silverstone, Hockenheim and Monza back to their former glories. Rant overÂ
