They could have brought Olly Murs Stevie Knows forward, but he probs would be discouraged to compete with the XF winner.

I imagine this will flop horrendously regardless, it's been a while since I saw one song get such a universally negative reaction as that has.

considering their fan base, if One Di started a campaign NOW, they could grab that Xmas #1...

True, if Syco want the Xmas No.1 (and a very fitting end to 1D's career ... for now at least ...) then 1D are the clear way to go.

I dont disagree! But seeing as the omens are pretty terrible it might be an option to sprinkle some Christmas tinsel on it and get it out the door, it might get a few more sales :P

Shakin' Stevens - Echoes of Merry Christmas Everyone

oh I had assumed that had already been and flopped. not a fan myself, the song really doesn't need the Mumford & Sons soundalike treatment
Christ Louisa down to #4 - imagine if she's not even top 40 next week!
People getting their hopes up about Louisa falling but what if next Friday, she did the unthinkable and grabbed that Xmas #1?

Making #1 is as unikely as missing the Top40!

I would guess #10-15, but that is a shocker in any case. Surprised some media arent on to it yet.

what was eyes shut's peak? the times I've viewed this thread it seems to be lingering around somewhere.
Louisa Johnson could fall down to #6 today as she's only just ahead of the #5 and #6 song at the moment!

#21 officially, its itunes peak was #10 I think

Louisa down to #6 now

noone would have predicted this, even considering the song.

God! If you'd have told me this time last week that the X-Factor winner's single would (presumably) scrape the top 10 I'd have never believed you. :o

Im schoked with History! C'mon boys. :o

Release the video and we can try another #1.

It would be quite funny One Direction getting Christmas #1. With the irony being, they're an X Factor act and in hindsight should have won against Matt Cardle - who had his Christmas #1 with his winners single. But somehow, if they get it, they would be deserving of it. They are the biggest band in the world and have gone on to achieve what the X factor has promised - a worldwide star.

And it would be very poetic for an X Factor act to end it all for X Factor, and be it with their last single

I'd still prefer Kylie to come out of nowhere and snatch it though (or Mariah/Pogues/ Shaky Stevens)

that's why I have to support bieber next week, because he's totally unrelated to xfactor, whereas 1d are
1D's slight increase in pop bar may have something to do with their appearance on that James Corden show; a lot of their songs have climbed as well as their back catalogue and Made in the A.M. itself has increased its position since the appearance. It's worth noting that their karaoke video of the FOUR album track No Control has gone viral and as a result it currently #78.
