For those complaining about the fact a 'normal' song won't get to no1, surely the other 51 weeks of the year are dominated by normal songs so it's nice to have a random song you'd never hear at other times in the chart!

It's just a pain that a large proportion of people that download the track probably won't even listen to it once, so is the 'song' itself really that popular? I like a lot of choral music but this is a really bad mashup sung pretty terribly in parts, at least if it was an original/inspired song like Wherever You Are I would happily get behind it more.

Oh well, the song will probably spend next week making McFly's Baby's Coming Back look like a major success! It will be the first No.1 since Malone's last choir to not go silver!

I would rather they supported Louisa Johnson's charity single rather than this tbh.

Yeh there's no doubt it's an idea that's been done before and it's getting tired now but as I said it's something that would never normally get to no1 during the yr when the no1 is dominated by contemporary stars(apart from CIN/Comic Relief times) so it will jump out as a Christmas number 1 in future.

I would say there's a number of motives for people buying it - I downloaded it because my mums an NHS worker who is working Xmas day and want to support them and also the Xmas no1 race will always be a campaign in a way but the increases in the past 3 days have been due mainly to people being aware it exists as most will not until they heard Chris Evans/seen the media hype.

I'm shocked it hasnt a cd release as it would have sold around 30k physicals easily IMO.

I do also like the song too.

It will only jump out in the same way as Justice Collective, i.e. not very much at all.

But that's fair enough, there will certainly be plenty of people buying it because they like it or have a personal reason for doing so.

But just as many will be people that only buy music when instructed to because it's for a good cause and the right thing to do, even though these songs as actual charting contemporary pieces of music are long forgotten a month later (and there are HUNDREDS of worthy charity records that go completely ignored, why can't the media show some support to these as well throughout the year).

Tempted to back him at 66/1!

I'd say at those odds it's still worth putting a couple of quid on!

can't have everything I guess. I wanted the xfactor single to lose(against cowell) and got that.

on second priority I preferred a normal song to win,it didn't but mainly because there wasn't any new big releeases. For example uptown funk would have won against this campaign

The thing with Biebs being no1 is that it will be like Earth Song being the 1995 Xmas no1 in 20 years as in people don't mention it and go from talking about East 17 to the Spice Girls.

Christmas songs on the rise now so you were premature there ;)

Mariah #23 & #36

The Pogues #26 & 42

Wizzard #38 & 140

Shakin' Stevens #39 & #185

Wham! #40 & #85

Chris Rea #44 & #83

Band Aid #57 & #240

I think these are the main ones that will be challenging for the top 40 tomorrow!

As opposed to a generic X-Factor winner and poorly made choir song nobody will care to remember by January?

I think the NHS Choir song's quite nice, but as for some people perhaps being motivated to download the song for reasons beyond just purely liking the song, well, call me a cynic, lol, but I thought that's always been quite common place.
what day do you think will the choir start dropping?

Tomorrow presumably, as today is the last day sales will count toward the christmas chart.

Their publicity of being the Christmas #1 will probably lessen the rate of their fall, but by boxing day they'll probably start freefalling.

Goooooo Kylie and James C..... up to 56 on ITunes, also Santa Baby heading for ITunes top 150 finally this year and Every Day's Like Christmas breaks into ITunes top 250.

Album holding up well on ITunes too.

Successful campaign for Ms Minogue.

in fact i was wondering if they could still be top3 in the next midweek

Indeed but my point was aimed at the fact it was something different for one week a year.

Bieber gaining!!!!

If he manages to get up to 50% combined I'm sure he could make it

We probably won't get a kworb update until late Boxing Day if he usual happens and things collapse - when it returns the Xmas stuff will have disappeared!
