It's shocking to me that days can pass without a new entry or even re-entry to the top 200, are streamers really that regimented in their listening habits that they need to keep playing the same small pool of tracks ad nauseum all week long (with almost exactly the same figures for each song each day too, implying that people are not only doing this but seem to surprisingly never get bored of playing these same old songs day in day out for months on end).

I can't imagine anything worse than having such little variety but then I guess it reflects the playlists of the likes of Capital and Heart.

  are you sure?! there’s a problem on the spotifycharts.com page where the NE’s and RE’s are given a red arrow like fallers instead of a blue dot as per the in-app chart~

the lower reaches of the spotify chart are massively unstable (over 30 RE’s today alone) and absolute bedlam after throwback thursdays~

there’s definitely a bottle neck just outside the top50 ~ a bit like the iTunes top10 effect, featuring in the in-app chart gives tracks an extra 5-10k streaming boost ~ so a song can stall around 51-60 zone for weeks, but when they finally sneak into the top50 suddenly zoom up 10/20 places the next day~

tiesto/oliver heldens nearly missed the official chart with ‘the right song’, getting stuck in the 51-55 zone for the best part of 2 months~

Oh you're quite right actually, it was jut because I was getting confused at the symbols they use on their spotifycharts.com page. It always make it looks like there's no change

I do still find it interesting how certain songs that are months old can post the exact same play tally for days or weeks on end with so little variance, but that was explained by somebody further up with the talk of averages. I guess I'm just not used to how slow streaming turnover generally moves compared to old sales charts where songs even at the top can be bought twice as much one day as the next, whereas it's all incredibly static with streaming. But then I suppose with sales you're only buying something once, and then you have it (and can play it to your hearts content without any further sales being recorded), whereas people are returning for repeat plays on streaming, so it does all make sense.

Spotify really should make more of an effort to promote the songs that are bubblin' under the top 50, it would really help movement of songs in the chart.

Streaming turnover is so slow, why is Fast Car, Lush Life and Light It Up still in the top 20? I am guessing it is people who don't listen to the radio that often listening to them. Because anyone that listens to the radio often would be sick of these by now.

P!nk making good progress at last!

She'll make even more progress on Friday when Alice hits the cinemas

New peaks:

11 [+1] Cheat Codes x Kris Kross Amsterdam - Sex

13 [+2] gnash - i hate u, i love u [feat. Olivia O'Brien]

49 [+2] OneRepublic - Wherever I Go

55 [+1] P!nk - Just Like Fire

62 [+4] Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl

73 [+21] Tom Odell - Magnetised

84 [+39] Adele - Send My Love (To Your New Lover)

85 [+11] Melanie Martinez - Pity Party

112 [+7] Timeflies - Once in a While

126 [+1] Reggie N Bollie - New Girl

170 [RE] Coldplay - Up&Up

175 [RE] Astrid S - Hurts So Good

186 [RE] M.O - Who Do You Think Of?

Good to see M.O doing something on Spotify this early in the game. Preach barely troubled the top 200 despite being top 10 in the airplay charts!

I echo the above, the M.O song could easily be a hit if radio can look past the bad performance of Preach!

Loving that jump for Tom Odell too, I hope it can secure a top 100 placing.

Getting well pissed off at this lack of movement for Reggie n Bollie in comparison to their sales. They're on no playlists, COME ON SPOTIFY.
