Spiritbox are a Canadian metalcore band led by Courtney LaPlante. The track 'Secret Garden' is one of their more palatable songs (not featuring any screaming) though still an all-out banging rock tune. It is perhaps one of the cheaper acts I've sent as their album did reach the top 20 in the US and UK but it's not like they ever got talked about on Buzzjack so I hope it is a great discovery for you all.

Both of your rock entries have deserved to do better than they did but happy that they at least qualified. Have been really enjoying your entries so far this year, voted for all 5 of them, definitely the most consistent run of entries you've ever had for me! Qrion is a US-based Japanese producer signed to Anjunadeep. For the third Pride contest we have the appropriately titled 'Proud' - taken off her debut album it is a chill electronica/house track sampling Deniece Williams' "I'm So Proud". The music video above was shot in her hometown of Sapporo.

 

Danæviia placed top ten in both of the previous two Pride editions, finishing 6th with Sophie 'Nothing More To Say / Eeehhh' and more recently 2nd with Nimmo 'Too Late'. Can we make it a third time around?

Driftmoon is a trance DJ from Prague who specialises in fusing classical composition with trance. You may remember him from Club Bizarre winning entry 'Lights Will Guide You Home' or former BJSC entry 'Genesis'. How does it hold up today?

I'm not often a big hardstyle fan but this goes down as one of the best hardstyle songs I've heard. Helped by having an epic fantasy feel to it and fairly distinct sections keeping it interesting. It even manages to pull off a key change well.

How does it hold up today?

This deserves to go down as a modern-day trance classic really. Though perhaps overshadowed by his other BJSC entry this one stood out for its raw emotional vocal and huge euphoric trance drop. With the beat-less vocal section taking up over half the runtime I knew it was a bit risky and it ended up flopping but oh well.

How does it hold up today?

This wasn’t intended to be an attempt to win but rather moreso for being the best Avicii tribute I’d heard and it being my 75th entry. However it clearly made a big impression despite its long runtime which was great to see. It’s not one of my absolute favourite entries (I rate my other 2 winners more) however I don’t wish to undersell this, it’s an absolutely outstanding composition one which I’d love to find something like again. The EDM crossover sold me on it, although the first beatless half is just as strong if not moreso.

How does it hold up today?

 

A right racket of a tune, and a bit of a throwback to the early 2010s stylistically with its brostep influence, though fused with elements of DnB and metal making it very interesting for me at least. But it wasn’t to go down too well with the BJSC voting public as it broke my streak which has been perfect for the first half of the year. I would love to find another tune like this to send to make up for its failure as I think it would have done better in today’s climate.

This is a true beauty of progressive trance so I was rather miffed that it flopped even moreso than Riot, I mean look at just how long I charted it for. Probably was just a bit too subtle for BJSC where the big uplifting trance instrumentals tend to perform better but this has something really special to it.

How does it hold up today?

 

This is such a sexy summer anthem, still sounds very fresh now and is one of the tracks from this year I have revisited the most. Deserved to do a fair bit better but at least it stopped me from getting the dreaded 3x DNQs. The way it goes from being a relaxing beach vibe to club anthem really makes this stand out and the hook is very catchy even being in Spanish.

How does it hold up today?

 

Ben Gold came top 10 in the previous contest so clearly vocal trance was in again and so I sent this and it did similarly well, just missing the top 10. It also gave Christina Novelli some justice having DNQed for me previously. Save You is an excellent trance track (a lot better than Same Stars) anyhow, with a strong vocal and big synth hits from Durand.
