I'm very much expecting this outcome (with Botanikka likely winning). To me both sound like winners, with the potential to score over 300 points, and it's unfortunate they've both turned up in the same contest to deny one the chance of fulfilling its destiny.

 

I hope they don't end up 4th and 9th now :lol:

Keeping it classy for our 101st entry delving into a new era of Danæviia we have American country music veteran Reba McEntire, perhaps not someone you'd expect representing us however it is with a dance remix. Her song 'Fancy' was originally put out in 1990 but it has now been danced up by Dave Audé who has been a very notable remixer for quite some time.

We only went and did it, getting our first ever silver medalist with 'Fancy'! It is our 6th entry to reach the podium following three wins and two bronzes. It's also our 5th-biggest performing entry of all time, just about reaching 300 points (our winners, plus TheFatRat 'Monody' scored more points). It becomes our 5th top 20 hit of the year and 3rd top 10 hit of the year. Our +18 was the eventual winner (Bøtanikkä) so we couldn't have possibly lost to better competition.

How does it hold up today?

 

 

To start off the year of 2016 we got ourselves our then-biggest hit and the song that remains to this day our biggest hit that wasn't a winner (outperforming our most recent silver medalist in terms of points scored). It's a song that I'm glad was such a success here as it's a big stand out of TheFatRat's discog and really captures the epic anthemic feel it is going for. I love how he keeps the song interesting and varied throughout and then Laura Brehm what a vocal she gives.

Another rather unique entry from us that I feel would be hard to replicate, it was a one-off of greatness from Maceo Plex too as I don't care for what he usually makes (though he eventually put out something I enjoyed again in his Faithless 'Insomnia' remix this year). Quite dark and tense sounding and makes good use of its lengthy runtime.

We've decided to end the year as we began by going back across the channel to France with Hugel. You may remember the DJ for the former BJSC entry 'WTF' or for his remix of 'Bella Ciao' which was a huge hit in Germany. It features vocals from the Spanish duo Cumbiafrica sampled from

, with Hugel turning a traditional bare-bones song into a tech house club anthem. The song has the seal of approval from the likes of Diplo, Fisher, Roger Sanchez, Vintage Culture and John Summit. Do excuse the covid themed music video though!
