=33. Séyetana [13 points] [81]

a country that provide much needed variety to the contest, although their more rock and anime inspired entries don't really attract my points. with the exception of this anime song turned hardcore anthem which scored 13 points from us.

=33. Ramrynia [13 points] [83, 88]

we haven't been loving Ramrynia quite as much this year as they've been even more pop than usual, though we did get one great dancey tune from them, the first and better of the BB Diamond entries, that I hear Buzzjack Mountain is a big fan of also. we gave it ten points.

=33. Persephonia [13 points] [81, 82]

they were great for the first two contests of the year, then they became 3indie5me so unfortunately only received 13 points for the entire year. #makepersephoniagreatagain #briecheese. this lovely Chinese dancepop entry scored ten from us in the year's first contest. at least you tie with Séyetana tho #briz

=33. Kylienips [13 points] [84, 85]

Kylienips is like the grass of BJSC, it's always been there but you don't often appreciate it. they did send one great entry in particular though, the very housey entry linked below scored 12 points from us.

32. FSR Rontvia [14 points] [82, 84, 85]

another staple of BJSC, FSR Rontvia haven't had as great a year as they previously would but we still managed to point them three times proving that they can still send something we like. the entry linked below was the most dance-influenced of theirs and got 8 points from us - though we actually prefer 82's Pixie Paris which got 5 points from us but in a very strong contest.

I didn't really notice that we exchanged so few points this year tbh (well I kinda knew I hadn't voted for you for ages but I wasn't as aware that you'd also snubbed me for most of the year lol). Maybe next year ~

I still don't remotely understand your categorisation of 'The Wandering Songstress' as dancepop when it's neither dance nor pop but I won't complain :teresa:

I definitely enjoyed my venture into hardcore remixes, as I still rank Requiem as my best entry of the year, it's something I'd like to do again, especially as yeah, I don't often get points from Danaelanda or similar nations but it's nice to get them occasionally x

=27. Medhelnia [15 points] [86, 87]

we think they're a country to really watch out for next year, after having an outstanding opening year recovering amazingly from their first two flops. The linked entry got 9 points from us and has since outgrown some of the songs we pointed higher than it.

=27. FKA FKA FKA π [15 points] [87]

the off-on country, once known as π, sent one great entry this year which scored 15 points from us and finished 2nd in the contest.

=27. D'yermak'er [15 points] [81, 85, 86]

often too pop for our tastes but they did send a bangin' choon in '86 which got 12 points from us and contributes to most of this score.

=27. Buzzjack Mountain [15 points] [89]

they only qualified once this year, but with that one entry scored 15 points. a nice bit of disco-house reminiscent of the mid 00s.

=27. Ajanaeda [15 points] [90]

a country we've seen less of this year, but they returned for the last contest of the year with a great remake of Carly Simon's 'Why' which scored 15 points.

=24. St. Burbia [16 points] [81, 82, 87]

St. Burbia started the year brilliantly, scoring 15 points within the first two contests but subsequently the quality dropped. This one scored 8 points from us and Bishop continued the good tunes throughout the year with 'River' and 'Pray (Empty Gun)'.

=24. Singerpurear [16 points] [81, 84, 87]

Singerpurear send such an eclectic range of music that we were eventually bound to end up liking a few of their entries. This J-pop meets future dance song scored 9 points from us.

=24. Fljótavík [16 points] [82, 83]

Fljótavík really impressed in BJSC 82, already a strong contest if I say so myself, with their dance entry scoring 13 points from us. a very well produced song and a surprise top 10 in the contest.

23. Mulgracia [17 points] [82, 88, 90]

Mulgracia are great when they do their indie meets dance entries, such as their most recent one 'Love To Hate It' which we gave 11 points to. we think they've found their sound again and hopefully more success comes to them next year.

22. Espen [18 points] [87, 90]

we don't regularly give points to Espen anymore but their Cappa entry stood out to us more than her other one this year, and got 13 points. we also sent Cappa to a spin-off ourselves with a cover of 'No Scrubs'.

21. Greenfroze [20 points] [83, 89]

when Greenfroze sent Perttu 'Waves' we already knew it would get big points from us, and as it turned out no other song beat its quality so 18 points it was.

The following countries are in the top 20, if you're in here then you've made it.

20. Skall [21 points] [83, 85]

when Skall send long dance entries I can't always get behind them, but there were two of them this year that I loved, particularly Bicep's 'Just' which is one of my favourite discoveries of the year. It scored 13 points from us.

=18. Cumulonimbia [22 points] [82, 89]

back in '82 they entered Sasha's classic progressive house track 'Xpander' to the contest, something I definitely did not expect but I'm glad it got to be heard cos it's a proper choon. We scored it 15 points, and despite already being familiar with the song it felt like a rediscovery for us.

=18. Altyr Muunilinst [22 points] [81, 85, 86, 87, 90]

this country seem to be consistently fairly good, with us giving them points in five contests of the year but never higher than 7 points, which we gave to their most recent entry 'Closer To Life'. keep doing you Altyr.

=16. Land of DW [25 points] [84, 85, 89]

when Land of DW do dance throwbacks we get on board, especially with the linked 'Deep' which we gave 12 points to. We also liked their 'Pyydä Multa Anteeks Kunnolla' entry a lot, which should've done a lot better.

=16. Cor Lupus [25 points] [83, 85, 87, 90]

Cor Lupus finally got their win this year, and in a very successful year for the country we pointed them on four occasions. Our favourite was 'Bring Back The Summer' which we gave 9 points to.

=14. Vülkyria [28 points] [81, 82, 84]

in what looked like a very promising year for Vülkyria, they seemed to vanish halfway through the year and alas could not break our top 10. Our favourite of theirs was 'You Got Me Baby' which finished in second place and received 12 points from us. We also gave them 11 points for 'Shosholoza'.

=14. N-Lazone [28 points] [83, 89, 90]

N-Lazone also made a vanishing act but returned in time for the last few contests of the year, promoting them to a top 20 position. Their entry 'Waterfalls' scored 11 points and seven contests later they'd do one better, scoring 12 points with 'Oasis' (although we actually like 'Waterfalls' more).

=12. Pupok [30 points] [83, 84, 86, 88]

Pupok had a great year successwise and they sent some great entries too, if we ignore 'Daddy Says No' ever being a thing. They got their first win with 'Give Love A Try' which we helped by giving 13 points to.

=12. Beaverdonia [30 points] [81, 84, 85]

Beaverdonia also got their first ever win, with 'Aide' which we gave 12 points to. We gave even more points to their first entry of the year 'Ganjaman', 15 juicy points for that.

11. Hendinia [36 points] [82, 85, 86]

Hendinia cleverly sent 'The Ocean' just before it blew up on Spotify, though it did show signs of doing well. we really loved it anyway so was an easy choice of 18 points for us.

The top 10 will consist of:

#00274E

Aeroche

Bøtanikkä

Cadelicia

Dobago

Ethanola

Jadakissnia

N DNTN

Terra Avium

Yehesi

Predictions then. There's only four points between first and second place, and there is a large gap between the top four and the rest of the top ten.

S DNLD seem to be the good luck charm for me this year: you supported my four hits this year! :D

well now you know the formula to a hit, just appeal to S DNLD :P

=9. Yehesi [40 points] [81, 82, 84, 89]

Yehesi may have turned into pop hoes this year but they've sent some bops along the way, including the amazing 'Bonbon' and 'All Night Long', the latter which got 18 points from us, although we prefer 'Bonbon' which happened to be in the strong contest of 82.

=9. Cadelicia [40 points] [83, 84, 86, 87, 88, 89]

we're now getting into the countries that get points from us more often than not, and what a year it's been for Cadelicia, sending some big commercial friendly dance smashes. we particularly liked 'What It Feels Like' which we gave 10 points to.

8. #00274E [44 points] [83, 85, 88, 90]

this country sent four standout entries this year, all receiving ten or more points. their rave entry 'Now Bad Boy' got the most from us, with 12 points given.

7. Jadakissnia [46 points] [83, 85, 87, 88, 89]

we didn't expect this country to end up in our top 10 but they did deliver on quite a few occasions, particularly 'Scope' which we gave 12 points to. hopefully when their inevitable win comes next year it's with an entry we enjoy just as much.

6. N DNTN [47 points] [81, 82, 86, 88, 89, 90]

one of our big all time faves now, N DNTN kept giving us great indie and dance tunes into 2016 and even got another win. our favourite comes from 'Kiss To Kiss' which was one of two entries we gave 10 points to.

Top 5 contenders:

Aeroche

Bøtanikkä

Dobago

Ethanola

Terra Avium

Ooh wow it's amazing that I have ended up as high as your 7th favourite country of the year. :o I guess a fair amount of my sound this year was quite dancey so that explains it  I am pleased that you took to 'Scope' so much in particular *.*

Bonbon *.*

(Also I am not 100% a pophoe just yet)

5. Terra Avium [51 points] [82, 84, 86, 88]

unlike the rest of the top 5, Terra Avium are here on the strength of only four entries. this includes two entries that we gave the maximum mark to. they were one of three countries we gave two sets of 18s to, the others being Aeroche and Dobago which are still to come. we were really impressed by 'Travelling Light' anyway, a brilliant entry that definitely deserved our top score in the contest.

4. Bøtanikkä [70 points] [83, 84, 87, 88, 89, 90]

they've recently turned in to one of our favourite countries, based on the strength of their dance entries - and we were happy to include them in the dance bloc union alliance. we're excited for what's to come as this has definitely been their best year. the linked entry got 15 points from us but since then it became a massive Europe and UK hit single and grew on us further, spending TWELVE weeks at #1 in the Danaelandan official chart, a joint record with Avicii's single 'Waiting For Love'.

3. Ethanola [78 points] [81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86]

Ethanola had an amazing start to the year but sadly they started frequently DNQing and so became less possible for them to be our highest pointed against consistent qualifiers Aeroche and Dobago. In the contest we were lucky to host they sent what is probably one of their best entries yet (the Vini Vici remix of 'Free Tibet'), scoring top marks from us and going on to win the contest against big competition from Vülkyria and Yehesi! On a side note, that may be the best BJSC top 3 EVER.

Who is #1 then, Aeroche or Dobago? :o

2. Dobago [85 points] [81, 83, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90]

we had a feeling that Dobago would have an excellent year and we were very right, and to come second to Aeroche whilst beating Ethanola is a huge feat in this chart. they took a contest out in '82 but came back stronger than ever with 'Feel', which we gave 18 points to. We'd also give them 18 points once more, in the most recent contest. They've built an impressive points streak here too stretching back to '86, which we hope continues in '91.

1. Aeroche [89 points] [81, 83, 84, 85, 87, 88, 89, 90]

in only two contests did we not give Aeroche points, and one of them we would've but they DNQed (somehow). they really are the masters of the contest and always seem to know what to send, and indeed they became the most successful country of the year for a fourth year running. that this country are our #1 pointed here and of all time should come as no surprise as they send amazing dance choons and rarely DNQ. we gave them 18 points twice, the linked entry being one of those occasions and our personal favourite.
