Amazing for Troye and Bryson! Also great to see Snakehips & Raleigh still getting great support from them :o Really pleased about Snakehips and good to see them keep it on as it's taking off.

No Little Mix is a bit bizarre though. But I'm sure there's still time for that.

So ironic how they constantly play a "Radio 1 the home of new music" advert throughout the day yet they want to keep Adele on the A List.

Them keeping one or two songs in rotation for more than a couple of months doesn't completely nullify the fact their playlist is infinitely fresher and more supportive of new artists and music than pretty much every single other mainstream radio station...

(unrelated: wow at 'Broken Flowers' being added! Didn't even know that was being properly pushed (especially now, given how old it is))

A re-recording of the song was released toward the end of last year and a video has just been released. I'm guessing this is all because he's now signed to Sony.

In fairness to the Hello & Sorry tracks they are two of the biggest hits of recent times with Hello selling huge amounts in its opening weeks for a non novelty of XF related hit.

I do think once a song is established in the top 10 radio 1 should remove it as their job is done (apart from songs that are OAOS and enter in the top 10)

I second this. Some very questionable choices.

The whole Hello and Sorry still A list, while they get rid of songs that are still taking off, is becoming incredibly annoying. 12 weeks on the A list for Hello is a bit excessive...especially as it's starting to fall away now.

Love Yourself was number 1 for how many weeks? It looks like they're going to wait until it falls before upping it on the playlist...If they do, it's already spent 6 weeks on the C list.

Great to see Troye Sivan's amazing 'Youth' playlisted as well as seeing some support for Lion Babe. But other than that, Radio 1, it's time to get rid of a lot of songs. 'Adventure of a Lifetime' can go now, too.

I can't see them snubbing them, but I find it a bit odd that Little Mix haven't been added still, but they added Jason Derulo's other song that's doing nowhere near as well. I guess its unknown impact date must be a little way off.

I wonder if the impact date is sometime near valentine's day perhaps? In the early 00s there often seemed to be some big love song smashing around that time and taking off in a slightly bigger way than could reasonably be expected (Whole Again and Hero come to mind).

omg

But yass at WTBD A Listed finally, coming for that top 10 smash please.

Not forgetting Cry Me A River of course.

It depends how you look at it. The playlist was frozen for a week over Christmas, so I don't count that week. Maybe a more accurate way of saying it would be that it's the 12th playlist it's been on :)

If the song was on the playlist both before and after the freeze then you can count freeze week as part of its run. Had Radio 1 had a normal schedule, they wouldn't have removed 'Hello' only to re-add it a week later. Any song getting an extra week by luck over Christmas would be long gone by now.

The existence of Radio 1 is not justified solely by their promotion of new music. They're a radio station that needs to attracts listeners - they're not going to stop playing music that people want to hear just as people are realising that they want to hear it because that doesn't make people tune in. Not to mention that if Radio 1 are really hoping to promote new music then they should be consistently promoting it so that the artists can gain some level of persistent success, rather than creating an endless line of "sort of indie" one-hit wonders.

I've heard 'Broken Flowers' for the first time this evening and I can't get enough of it. Really hope that can be a big hit!

This comment made me listen to it too, and I'm the same now, can't get it out of my head. What a tune!

Craig David Capital Xtra DJ being supported on A-List, great to see - massive congratulations to him for making this comeback! Bet people thought he'd never get R1 support again..

Do radio 1 DJs do records of the week again?

Heard Telomere by Mystery Jets twice on Greg James' show this week!
