It would be great for Flume to finally have somewhat of a hit, though he deserved success many times before

This one is my favourite from him, didn't chart anywhere though

Great pick that one! If it's worth anything, it was a top 20 streaming hit here :D My 2nd favourite behind "On Top".

I'm hoping a 'big' artist drops something new soon - it's bound to do well surely, people will be looking for something that's not Justin Bieber to go crazy over (unless they are waiting for it all to die down a bit, ha).

8 Little Mix Secret Love Song (feat. Jason Derulo)
But surely the overload of songs climbing the charts lessens the 'staleness'?

I personally think the chart is a lot more interesting seeing long running hits being challenged by songs climbing up the chart. I'd much prefer to not know where the next big hit is coming from than have the chart being stupidly predictable.

And, streaming gives songs such as Light It Up their break in the chart, so it's not just aiding the hits such as WDYM?.

But then by the same token, if pretty much every song that breaks through and is a reasonable sized hit is overstaying its welcome by default doesn't that lessen the achievement somewhat as well? For example, a few years ago something like 'Chasing Cars' having a run like every song does these days stood out as an amazing achievement. Now it's just standard.

The problem with streaming is both the people who stream having no imagination, and also people that curate the mainstream playlists where a huge percentage of the streams are from. It's effectively people being spoonfed what they should listen to and it's a vicious cycle, I don't personally see what's good about that.

44 Jonas Blue Fast Car (feat. Dakota)

61 Tracy Chapman Fast Car

:)

Fast Car cover was also 70-ish on Spotify yesterday

Shawn Mendes pulling away now.. Justin Bieber pushed back to 0.7828 combined.

Just 86K/day behind on Spotify now too.

Still think he has the #1 this week!

Me too, I wouldn't be surprised if he were #2 in today's midweeks and climbed to #1 on Wednesday/Thursday

Not sure where it is now but Shawn had a second version not far outside the top 100 yesterday so that widens the gap slightly! I think Shawn has it too, his airplay will be at its highest this week too :D

It's currently at #119 on iTunes, so I'd probably add roughly 0.02500/0.0300 to his Kworb total.

I really like Stitches, but overall, I'd just really like a non-Bieber #1, as much as I grew to enjoy Love Yourself. Shawn has closed the gap a bit on Spotify now, too. It's gonna be tight!

For me, that 'Fast Car' re-jig is nearly as bad as Sam Feldt's one of 'Show Me Love'. I'm expecting it to be pretty big though unfortunately.

Same, I don't see the need to cover it or change it.

Surprise, surprise but I'm really not getting the live for that 'Fast Car' remake or that terrible 'Broken Flowers' song! :drama:
Streaming has completely killed my interest in the chart.

Me too :(

'Fast Car' now up to #42.

Also, original at #61+265 and the Tobtok cover at #588

the Australian chart currently has both covers of 'Fast Car' in it, Jonas Blue at #2 and Tobtok at #21. would be amusing if we had both versions being hits as well but somehow I doubt that will happen
