Wasn't it confirmed Carrie wasn't going to be featured in the last film at all?

Now you say this, I do recall an announcement like this so I think you're right! Saying that, I don't expect them to completely never mention Leia ever again after Episode 8 and I'm sure the character will have a legacy within the Star Wara movie universe too so my comment still stands. It's not going to be easy to change the planned story after her tragically passing away so I hope they do her justice still.

So JJ Abrams is gonna be back and do Episode IX due to Colin Trevorrow now out of it! :cheer:

SO HAPPY with that replacement!

OMG so excited! But also not wanting to get my hopes up given the last trailer was blah and totes hasn't sustained me these past 6 months.

OMG LOONING like no one’s business!

Just the kind of trailer I’ve been waiting for tbh.

I can't seem to build the excitement beyond 'looking forward to it' on this just yet.

It's odd because for Rogue One and episode 7 it was there.

Just not feeling it this time.

Although I do like the subtle hint of Darth Vader in the new poster.

I'm always excited for Star Wars and can't wait to see this but the trailer isn't making me anymore or any less hungry for the film. There's nothing particularly new or exciting shown.

A much more exciting trailer than the last one at least. It was nice to see Mark Hamill speak a bit and I'm so stoked to see Princess Leia in this too

Saying that, I just don't like the current crop of characters (Rey, Kylo, Finn etc.) as much as I do Leia, Han, Obi-Wan etc. so I don't really feel like my hype is as high as it should be :(

I was completely not excited but the trailer had got me there. I'm excited to see where it all goes we've got no real clue about how the story will progress. I'm satisfied with this but think the marketing to this point has been terrible.

It looks awesome. I have no idea on the story though, which I can only assume is a good thing.

I wonder if somebody will turn to the Dark Side? Seems to be what the trailer hints.

I'm excited but not amazingly excited, but then again I do feel like this one was never gonna be QUITE as exciting as the first as the novelty of the first new Star Wars film in ages is gone, I s'pose the fact we can't really tell anything about what's gonna happen at all doesn't help, but it's much better that way, as trailers that give away the whole film are the worst. (I'll probably be looning come December lol)

I'm sure at least one person will turn to dark side.

Rey

would be quite the shock, even though all the clues prior to this seem to be hinting at it being

Luke

So, so excited. I have so much faith in Rian! I also think the trailer looks fantastic. So excited to (hopefully) see more of Captain Phasma!

Luke turning to the dark side would be a bit of a let down after the journey he went through in the original trilogy.

I hope Leia does more than looking sad into space for this one.

A new trilogy is being worked on by Rian Johnson, and it will move away from ‘the Skywalkers’! :o

It was to be expected but I didn’t expect them to announce it this soon, it would have been nice to have a bit of a break again between the trilogys but then this is modern day Disney. I wonder if Rey/Finn/Poe will still be involved?

I've watched and read as little as possible about the film. Just reading some of the early buzz now - it looks like it is going to be a great film.

It will be interesting to read the reviews, but all the signs point to a positive film with a lot of heart and emotion.

OMFG that was seriously amazing! Literally nothing was predictable.

All the twists and turns were brilliant, so much focus on character and a lot more original than The Force Awakens.

Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley were fantastic. But Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were seriously bad ass. I’m so pissed off with how their acting careers were mocked over the years; they were seriously so much better in this than Harrison Ford was in the last one. Not sure how they’ll do 9 without Leia though.

New characters were all great fun and it was good how you were always kept guessing their loyalties.

Captain Phasma remained crap and ineffective and an insult to the strong women she was supposed to be representing. It’s a shame Gwendoline Christie didn’t get her moment but thank f*** for Daisy, Carrie, Laura Dern and Kellie Marie Tran showing her how it’s done.

Mark Hamill was the true stand out. Amazing.

I really, really enjoyed it. I wasn't particularly blown away at any point, but I wasn't disappointed either. The character development was seriously good (well for everyone except

Captain Phasma.............

which is really disheartening and such a waste of a potentially strong character).

But I am sooo happy with

the use of BB-8 in this. He's too darned adorable

 I particularly love that

Billie Lourd was in it so much

too. The dynamic and chemistry between the new cast and old cast is incredible. They all work extremely well together.

For the most part TBoy got it spot on with his review above, although, I feel more just content and happy with it than he does it seems, but I was definitely NOT disappointed. This is very much a "needed to bridge the gap and fill the trilogy" sort of movie.

8.5/10 for me

Not reading any spoiler tags but it’s interesting you said nothing blew you away Jonjo because that’s all I’m hearing elsewhere! So many saying it’s the best (or one of) Star Wars!
