I have something in mind which isn't my usual syle but I've been kind of obsessed with for the past few weeks. Also kind of tempted to sent a big musical style swedish language ballad that I've revently been introduced to but I would actually like to get more than 0 points this month.

SO excited for this! I'm going for an incredible remix of a witch house song! The sound of it is moreso in the vein of 'Exhume' rather than my BJSC Halloween song as much as I loved that, to use recent examples.

looking forward to my bjsc debut, i read the framework and my song shouldn't get vetoed but i'm anxious that other people are about to send it in as well lol?? i have a 2nd preference just in case but i'm not sure how well hip-hop does on bjsc so~

Looking forward to your debut too, I'm sure others will be intrigued also! And I don't think hip-hop generally does well tbh, but people rarely send it anyway :heehee: Go with what you want anyway if you feel strongly about it and good luck!

I'd like to think hip-hop has a little bit of a cult following on BJSC. But then again a cult hit =/= an actual hit. And people rarely send the genre because it always performs poorly.

 

In the past though hip-hop entries have DNQed and then won The Rejects! (a contest at the end of the year with all the DNQs of the year)

 

*specifically Miguel 'Adorn' (if that counts as hiphop idk) and Angel Haze 'New York'

There are so few actual hip-hop entries that it's hard to draw conclusions, but what few entries there are actually do alright enough (as in at least qualifying) most of the time due to picking up some niche support (see 'JAY Z', 'Devour', 'Kool-Aid', 'Drip Drop' etc.), it's R&B that usually does pretty poorly.
