I have to admit tho, I wondered who all the flowers were from. Aside from his grandparents, Paul only knew, like 4 people.

Indeed. I was surprised at that scene where Whitney, Lauren, Lee, Abi and Johnny were all talking in the cafe as if they'd just lost a member of their friendship group even though I can't actually recall most of them even sharing a scene (Abi did but it was clear she wasn't his #1 fan). He only ever socialised with his grandparents or Ben.
Lauren and Steven wouldn't have known him at all. They've only been back a few weeks and Lauren previously only spent a few weeks on screen at the same time as Paul but she was busy giving birth and being in court.
Did Paul not work with Lauren in the Salon?

When though? He worked with Lola. Lauren was offscreen when Paul arrived. I don't recall her working there when she came back in the Autumn and it's been closed since she came back.

It's a typical soap cliche, I know like if someone on your street died you'd still be shocked or sad, especially in these circumstances, but I swear in soap they all suddenly act like they've suffered a deep personal loss at like any death. Like I said, if someone on my street died in these circumstances, I'm not saying it wouldn't be shocked or saddened, but I just don't see why they suddenly have to retcon somewhat and it make it that Paul was all of their best friends

 I guess it will be written off as an 'off screen' friendship. I can't imagine Paul having anything relevant to say on screen anyway

Buster

is leaving.

I'm a bit pissed off with this one. I really liked him but he was barely utilised until recently.

And yet we're probably stuck with Kathy :(

Is Richard going to be the next child killer  those looks could kill

I loved that scene between Ben and the detective - the actress had a fantastic acting style and I felt really invested in the scene.

Pleased about that axing. He probably would have been much better if utilised but I didn't care not to see him either, unlike other underused characters who just beam charisma and potential.

The police lady to become a full time character please! *.*

I am also not surprised at the axing, won't be too much of a loss even if I like the character.

Have you seen the infamous Desperate Housewives Hank episode?

Where they introduced and killed Hank off all in one episode and retconned him to have been a greaaat friend we NEVER SAW ONCE giving them advice etc. It was a shitty practoce episode for the Eddie episode a little later

Aww I am quite sad about the axing, but it is to be expected. I wouldn't be surprised if Donna was next

I love that detective and that she didn't take any of Ben's shit.

I love how Kathy thinks people will actually listen to her advice.

I presume tonight episode was 'Fathers and Sons', but my god it was so boring

What was wrong in all of that:

1) Ben/Phil-Phil actually being a surprisingly GOOD PARENT for once despite the ridiculousness of the gun situation (cos they're Mitchells innit) only for it to be ruined by Ben having his 484th tantrum of the week screaming 'I'm not a kid!' Before summoning all the strength of a 5 year to knock things off a table and completely getting Phil's intentions wrong in a way no one else could.

2) Jay/Billy-the writers forgot about their relationship for 5 years so it's a big ask for us to remember it now. Plus 'Billy did drugs' coming out after 19 years of not being mentioned is rubbish.

3) Jack/Ricky-Jack is the worst parent. Yes, get him off the tablet but throw it in the bin? What an arsehole, arguably acting more childish than his 5 year old son. Poor Ricky, my new fave, lumbered with parents as dense as Jack and Sam.

4) Mick/Lee-why is it characters can't take Lee's concerns seriously? Why have they not asked him how he feels about being a dad instead of taking the mick out of him for being thick. Mick has such an unhealthy obsession with his kids, rooting through Lee's stuff, following him round at work just to tell him babies are awesome and telling him to man up because of his doubts. If I was Lee, I'd have doubts and not just because I slept with the amazing Abi Branning some months back but because around that time my fiancé was locking lips with my father.
