Baffled how anyone could consider '3' worthy of an 11!

One of her worst for sure.

Just outside the top 20 is the last of any of Britney's greatest hits era's singles, 'My Prerogative', which received several and mainly high scores, consisting of 3 10's, 11 9's & 4 8's. In fact there weren't hardly any low scores apart from the 1 3 and the 6 scores of 5, which is really good going and well deserved. I never thought that this would be so popular here, considering that it's a cover of a pretty well known song and it was close to gaining a top 20 position here, if it had 5 more points then it would have. Released in September 2004 as the lead single from her first greatest hits album, and was even named after this hit. Originally sung by Bobby Brown in 1988, from his 2nd album 'Don't Be Cruel' and became a US #1 for him and a top 10 hit in the UK. I think that this is a really good song and Britney does make it her own, taking out the New Jack Swing of the original and replacing with synthesizers, along with Bloodshy & Avant's production, was a really smart move and really gives it a fresher sound, and while the only other thing different from the original is Britney's spoken word opening, it does set the tone for what's to come, and you kinda forget that this was a cover in the first place, giving all the effort put into it. Even the lyrics (despite not being her own), does also indicate her own life as well, which is again like 'Lucky' before it does give it an eerie vibe. But on the whole, the song is fantastic and was a good end to the first chapter of her career, and out of the 3 new songs that were on the album, this definitely stands out as the best of them. Upon release it became a smash hit by topping the charts in Finland, Ireland, Italy & Norway, while making top 5 in Spain, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, UK, Greece, Portugal, Switzerland & Hungary, then making top 10/20 positions mostly everywhere else. In the USA it didn't perform as well by missing the top 100, peaking at #101, but fared better on the component charts, on Top 40 Tracks & Mainstream Top 40.

Echoing Joseph, '3' is a bit of fun but far from her best.( Another song which I find crazy that is one of Brit's few #1s in America). I think it's in the right place here.

My Prerogative I find a bit forgettable.

Yeah 3 is maybe about right, I'd have it low top 20 at best. Fun and good enough but not a beacon of amazigness in her discog or anything. My Prerogative is fab, I think it might sneak into my top 10 Britney singles but its so tough. It's a great cover
I thought I'd gave My Prerogative a 10. Such a great cover !

'3' is garbage!

I've grown to really appreciate 'Lucky' in recent times, as a kid when it was released I didn't realise quite how sinister it was lyrically.

People talking about her US peaks. Ok first things first:

In the early 2000s, many of Britney's (and many other pop stars) singles, like "Sometimes", "Lucky", or "Oops!" had no physical release, so they charted on airplay alone. That's why their Hot 100 are relatively low, and in Oops! case, why it didnt reach #1. For the very same reason, its why a not well remembered song like From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart, which was doing poorly on airplay, got a physical release, where it reached #1 in the sales chart selling quite a big amount, and thefore its Hot 100 peak is actually quite good all things considered (#14).

During the Britney era however, it was radio (Clear Channel) that sorta blacklisted her, so even on pop airplay where she almost always had a lot of success, her peaks were quite low. That only ended after things were sorted with Clear Channel after the MATM release (that still got blacklisted, but not Toxic). It helped that Toxic was such a well received song though. During this time period, I think only Slave and Not A Girl would've been bigger though, they're the only 2 that had decent airplay on other stations.

#20. I Wanna Go | Femme Fatale

Avg. 7.559

Highest Rates: 10: (Mr Pmt, *Rob*, Ultraviolence1989, #Cody Slayberry, LushlifeLee), 9.5/9: (Luciano, hotchoc26, Liam, Euphroique, JoeyJeppssonWall, Regina, blackout, Jade), 8.5/8: (Johnjo07, Ivica, Vulker, Joe, Eyes, Casey, harryflynn0908, HausofKubrick, Robot, toxic air, DionTheSats123, PAJ88, Jay, RiseR, Addy King)

Lowest Rates: 2: (River Lea, ***, 152chris), 4: (Vibe)

At #20 we kick off with 'I Wanna Go', released in June 2011 as the 3rd single from her 7th album 'Femme Fatale'. Personally I'm really surprised that this made the top 20 here, but the scores speak for themselves which includes 5 10's, 8 9's & a whopping 15 8's. I always like it when Britney let's loose and has fun by pushing the boundaries, and while it's not something she hasn't done before, it's still fun. A definite standout track, upon the album's release and in sound follows in the same vein as the first 2 singles with it's dance-pop & hi-NRG sound, which in my opinion can make all 3 songs combined into one extended megamix. The song is good, but not great in my opinion and what kinda spoils it is the heavy use of auto-tune and over processed vocals, all of which are evident on it's chorus and just like the album itself, does suffer from over produced dance songs that lacks any real personality and in the end, just lacks focus and leaves you feeling cold. Many thought that the 3rd single would have been 'Inside Out'. which again is a decent track, but thankfully due to 'IWG' positive fan reaction, they went with the right choice in the end. Upon release the song had mixed success, in the USA it became a smash hit, reaching #7 on the Billboard charts due to strong digital sales and becoming her 20th top 40 hit. But in the UK it totally bombed by becoming her first single to miss the top 100, peaking at a measly #111. Elsewhere it performed much better by topping the charts in Israel & South Korea, and hitting top 10 in Hungary, Belgium, France, Lebanon & Finland. But in other countries where she usually scores big hits such as Australia, Sweden, Ireland, New Zealand, Germany & Switzerland, it underperformed by missing the 20 or even top 40 in some of those countries, stating that apart from the USA, Britney was starting to lose relevance.
