I guess it's all about opinion but for me it would Definately be!

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's one of the most famous songs ever made, I could probably name 100 songs which are more famous. I don't think a casual music fan would know the original tbh, especially a young one.

 

Personally I'm surprised people can post on a music forum and not at least have heard of The Sound of Silence, and I'd count as a "young one". Still, that's just me.

 

But it's a good cover so yay?

 

I don't think it's anything to do with age personally more type of music your interested and exposed to - love listening back to old charts and spotting classics or songs that would become classics - I watch TOTPs 1981 each week for instance. In saying that there are prob loadsa really famous songs I don't know the origin of!

Sound Of Silence will get to #1 eventually I think. It doesn't sound good to me but whoopty doo at this point.
