Kicking off with the bottom 3 songs of the entire rate. Rather unsurprisingly, in last place is 'We Ride'. Quite why she thought to release this when there was 'Kisses Don't Lie' lying about is beyond me. Also languishing at the bottom end is 'Right Now', a collaboration with David Guetta that despite it being a single, it received no video and only charted in the top 40 upon the release of 'Unapologetic' the year before. And at #41, I'm sad to say, is 'FourFiveSeconds'. This song managed to rack up FOUR -1 scores. I mean, I wouldn't rank it amongst her very best, but 41st is a bit of a joke if I'm honest. It had an impressive UK chart life though, spending 9 weeks in the top 5 and selling an impressive 800k.

'We Ride' was nice in 2006 but, compared Rihanna's output both before and after, it deserves its place at the bottom of the rate. 'Kisses Don't Lie' and 'Final Goodbye' should've been singles instead.

 

Glad 45S is out. It is just not that good.

'We Ride' wasn't as bad as I recalled when I re-listened, but definitely worthy of last place in a discography of such strong material.

 

Gutted 'Right Now' is out so soon but I shouldn't be too surprised. I recall people hating it when it was released as a promo (?) initially and reached #36 even though I loved it from first listen. I don't find it to be a million miles away from 'Where Have You Been' tbh; great track to get you hyped for a party or workout.

 

I am surprised about 'FourFiveSeconds' being in the bottom pile but an average of 5.6 isn't particularly bad, not for a song that has strong haters and that others find is just an okay track.

Scraping into the top 40 are two of the many feature singles Rihanna appears on. 'If I Never See Your Face Again', by Maroon 5 was the least successful of these two, charting at #28 in the UK and a measly #51 in the States. Eminem's 'The Monster' on the other hand, topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic and is the last time Rihanna topped the UK chart.

The Monster would be my biggest loss so far. I guess her chorus isn't what we're used to and it's not her song but the song in general is a jam :music: I can't remember how close my score for it was to 10 but I kind of wish I gave it a 10 with the low reception it recieved :(

 

The M5 collab is decent enough but not a loss there for me.

The only Rihanna / Eminem collab that I enjoy is 'Numb', the other two are trash!

 

45S should, of course, be nowhere near the bottom but the average is not THAT bad. 'Right Now' also deserved better. Nice trashy bop.

 

I hope 'Shut Up and Drive' will be out soon as it is the definite low-point of her career (actually the whole GGGB era is, looking back, stale and dated.. aside from 'Umbrella').
