I'm genuinely shocked to see 'Break The Ice' appearing in almost everybody's top 10.

I've never seen the appeal of the song and would always skip it, it passed me by when it was released as a single because of the video..

Just listened to it again to see if I'd missed out on something, but I still can't hear what makes it top 10 worthy.. I'd put it near the bottom!

It's really loved though, huh? :o

 

I don't get it either, HATED it on the album (the only song worse for me was 'Why Should I Be Sad') and was utterly mortified when it was announced as a single. Plus it pretty much killed off that era as well.

Break the Ice is incredible. Well the whole of Blackout is, but Gimme More, Break the Ice and Perfect Lover are like the holy trinity 😍

Honestly, I'm only totally sure on my top 6 there. I know 'Do Somethin' is genuinely reviled... but I'll classify it as a guilty pleasure (and I'm not sorry).

That Top 4 is interchangeable tbh. 'Everytime' is no doubt her best ever ballad and is on top depending what my mood is.

 

'Break the Ice' is absolute perfection until, ironically, the "I like this part" and the Gary the Snail noises - the whole song is short enough as it is without all that taking up half of it!

 

Shout outs to 'I'm a Slave 4 U', 'Me Against the Music' 'Overprotected', 'Piece of Me' and 'Work Bitch' which all could have been my #10.

It's the production that really does it for me.

 

Yeah it really is the production :wub:

 

Production often does it for me, more so than melody. I much prefer R&B productions over Max Martin poppy productions so that also explains the rest of my top 10. And before I made the top 10 I didn't realize I like so many Britney ballads but I guess I do.
