It always comes top 10 in her rates/ranks though, it's one of her most popular songs!

#06 Break The Ice // Score: 75

(HausofKubrick: 10. 152chris: 9, Heezus Froot: 8)

You can say 'Break the Ice' is "too high" all you like, but it earned its place here. Unlike in a rate, it benefits from no -1s or 0s (you know who you are) to bring down its average and comes in at #6 due to 15 of you giving points to it! Fair and square. The song itself, for me, is one of Britney's most unique songs. That opening. The Production. The vocal effect. I just love it. And what's not to love about anime Britney?

It's been a while.

So much love. The song from Britney that gives me most feels easily. It's such a well layered, intricate song with a blinding chorus, stunning middle-8 and SENSATIONAL opening. Her best song EVER.

Very well deserved. Break The Ice is unequivocally Britney and a slice of late noughties perfection.

#05 I'm a Slave 4 U // Score: 80

(Cremey, 152chris: 10..Atonement: 9)

Possibly one of Britney's most iconic videos. This was Britney's first 'look at me all grown up' single, as she moved from straight up pop and added a bit of sexy rnb to the mix. 'I'm a Slave 4 U', though a hit, may not have, at the time, performed as well as some of her previous singles, but it's very much remembered today as one of her most famous songs.

RIGHTFULLY in the top 5. I remember everyone freaking out about how un-Britney it sounded at the time. I LOVED IT INSTANTLY. Unpopular opinion, but, I prefer 'Slave' to 'Toxic' as her staple "adult" single.

ALSO, THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF OUR GENERATION:

Always find it so hard to choose between Slave and Gimme More as her best song as they're both so so special, but Slave is just edging it at the moment. I love how different it was for her, quite a risky lead single but definitely paid off 😍

Also praise be to Pharrell and the Neptunes.

15 years later and this beat still sounds fresh AF.

AND THIS UNCUT DANCE BREAK. PRAISE BE TO BRITNEY.

Truly f***ing iconic.

I am fully in the camp of loving 'Break The Ice' and 'I'm A Slave 4 U' is so iconic. These two songs are both examples of really amazing Britney production as well.

I feel like most of Britney's early 00s stuff is very "of its time'. Songs like Oops, Crazy, Born, Baby, Stronger, Lucky wouldn't take these days (amazing as they are). But Slave is something that sounds entirely fresh and modern even in 2016.
