June 3, 201610 yr I think the only female over 40 who they support is Sia. Whereas there's quite a few 40+ for the male artists. Indeed, and even then her age and looks aren't the vocal point of all media outlets like other female pop stars and, in terms of her commercial career, she's only really been in the limelight since the beginning of 2012, which puts her at a better advantage than your Madonnas and Britneys.
June 3, 201610 yr The Pink removal is strange - as if radio 2 bosses only realised that Pink was on radio 1 and not radio 2!!

Let's not forget that "Taken For Granted" hit #10 in 2000 though.
June 3, 201610 yr Let's not forget that "Taken For Granted" hit #10 in 2000 though. We know that, but the general public probably wouldn't - to them, Sia first came about with 'Titanium'.
June 3, 201610 yr My fav Sia track was one from 2004 which was the ending track to the 6 Feet Under series - cant even remember its name now lol. Think it went top 40 though! Wonder what was thought when Sia had chart hits in the early noughties but not much of a fanbase or airplay - she is a true A List star now since the new decade began! Only made #71 but is quite well known from being in an advert
June 3, 201610 yr Author How is Sia 40 wowsa Not just that but Sean Paul is 43 so 'Cheap Thrills' was certainly pushing the age boundaries for Radio 1
June 3, 201610 yr Where is Clean Bandit and Louisa Johnson - too retro and disco sounding for Radio 1? Is it in their remit not to put anything on radio 1 new that sounds remotely disco sounding as that sort of stuff is for radio 2? They would have snapped that up 10 or 11 years ago when disco house and funky house were popular.... Or are they shunning it because of Louisa being an X Factor winner? They didn't even make a big deal of it like they usually would do on the charts today either  it's bizzare - they would usually lap up a new Clean Bandit track, even for flops like Dust Clears and Come Ova they killed both as far as I can remember. It's funky/disco house and that was big in the middle of the last decade and so (sadly imo. because I like disco influenced dance music) it is seen as uncool by Radio 1 and more fit to be played by Radio 2, and B. It's got Louisa Johnson on it from The X Factor. When was the last time they didn't make a fuss over a new chart entry was it 'I'm in Love With Margaret Thatcher' by the Notsensibles?
June 3, 201610 yr Author Wish people would just be patient... it was only released a week ago so will more than likely be added next week
June 3, 201610 yr Louisa will have nothing to do with them not playlisting it yet. They playlisted Forever Young and features make no impact anyway, look at Take That.
June 3, 201610 yr Get Lucky got a lot of plays and that was disco!! Yes I suppose so, but that's because it was Daft Punk returning, also it was much more chilled and cooler sounding than the new more high energy CB and Louisa track which sounds like it is straight from 2005 (and I like this nostalgic feel of the track). In general Radio 1 generally doesn't play funky or disco house or trance because these types of dance music are probably deemed to be too last decade sadly :( But I think the main reason is the government recommendations for Radio 1 that they should play 'more distinctive content' because they say Radio 1 is too similar to commercial stations have counted against this track, as it features an X Factor winner. Although playing the same generic tropical house (Kungs) that has been around for years and is played by other stations, is hardly distinctive either. Nor is playing the Calvin Harris and Rihanna track which is played by every radio station or the Drake one which has been at number 1 for 8 weeks and has also been played by every radio station, distinctive. I am very disappointed that that Kiiara track has been seen by Radio 1 as being obviously ubercool, distinctive and futuristic when I (and many others on this forum) see it as an absolute mess that sounds like a broken record. Anyway, as others have said, I am sure the Clean Bandit song will be added soon.
June 3, 201610 yr what an atrocious week for new music 😞😞😒 still the alesso addition is pleasing 😻 ~ nice that james blake and tame impala are getting some support 😄 no clean bandit?! 👿👿👿

June 3, 201610 yr When I first heard it last summer I suspected it could be a no1 eventually with support - we shall have to wait and see....
June 3, 201610 yr When I first heard it last summer I suspected it could be a no1 eventually with support - we shall have to wait and see.... It's what I imagine Lorde to be like if she was good, so I'd be okay with it being this year's 'Royals' (to make a random comparison)
