Will be voting today. I apologised to Liam last night as I've just been incredibly lazy this week in terms of finding a good hour or two to dedicate fully to listening. Will be voting tonight.

I'm not saying it's out of spite, if that's the way I came across then I didn't mean it that way, I just would rather that half the voters didn't leave it so a mountain of prep has to be done. if anything good has come out of it it's Ryan's suggestion which as I said is a good way to make things easier for hosts, letting people vote whenever they can still, and not detracting from the contest, as it adds excitement and tension to the process.

I'm sorry if I am coming across snappy or bitter or angry to anyone, it's not that, I'm just a bit stressed and overwhelmed at prep and making sure everything is right because as I said I am a worrier, and didn't quite realise that hosting would be so much work and checking, because I want to make sure the contest runs smoothly.

Oh, no not you, I do actually acknowledge that it'd be annoying as a host to know you had loads of work to do when that option could be saved. But Regina's suggestion of it being out of spite is bullshit because I obviously wouldn't want to inflict that on any member here for the sake of it

Hosting is stressful, don't apologise for that!

No need to get your panties in a wad. I never suggested anything like that.

Ramrynia are currently top with 367 points with just Persephonia left to receive their points from the final day voters. Persephonia receive 195 points from them which... isn't enough as they only end up with 366 in total!!!!11111

I'm surprised by the support by this, may be worth giving it a trial run in a spin-off - talking of which, we will be having one next month so look out for that!

Oh is Cats vs Dogs finally happening :P

Also I support Ryan's idea...when it was on Eurovision it made things wayyy more tense and just *.*

Tinnmark have voted!

The rate average this final was 6.317 for me. A nul and a couple of 1's brought down the average a bit :kink:

Danaelanda voted earlier this afternoon. Quite a few surprises in the voting actually, including one country we barely ever give points to.

The 20hr thing is in the rules to heavily encourage next day results. If we have to push it out by 24hrs then so be it, that's fine and as long as the mods are informed we're fairly chill.

I like the idea of presenting the last day results in a block, that is certainly something to look into in more depth. In BJSC there is a habit of bandwagoning onto half formed concepts and ideas and ending up with monstrosities like the ban list (which i'm sure very few of you were around for, but trust me it was an unmitigated disaster not unlike brexit) so I'm going to hit the brakes and ask for caution here. It's something that we will have to trial on a smaller scale first, once we have had time to flesh out the concept.

The idea is good and we will trial it in the next spin off, but a main contest is too big a stage for an idea that is still so rough and undefined just 24hrs out from the results.

I respect that the idea has some enthusiasm and that's so wonderful to see and I'd like to harness that, but I think there is too much to discuss to get it done for this contest without it being half arsed or terrible. If we're doing it we're going to do it well.

Yeah I didn't want to do it this contest without prior warning, because some who've voted today have presented "proper" votes, for want of a better word, but also to make sure the mods can discuss for a spin-off trial, or the next contest, as gives plenty of time.

And I'm still fine to do results tomorrow, it may be 9 rather than 8 but no later than that, and I'm not going to linger on it too long, so they won't go on too late, I think last month's results were a perfect pace so I'm gonna try for about that!

The banlist (the nominations process one at least) was my idea, and looking back I can't imagine why I thought it was a good idea for people to nominate songs and artists to be banned.

I think it was two things - firstly it was a reaction to Tirren's idea of a mod-elected banlist (people seemed to dislike the fact that only the mods would have a say on what would be banned - that didn't bother me particularly but I was trying to come up with an alternative suggestion) and IIRC there was another proposal at the same time that songs that were participating could be disqualified halfway through a contest if they suddenly took off on iTunes or appeared on the Radio 1 playlist...! (Which would have meant a swift exit for the likes of Sigala/Roll Deep etc and made a real mess of the results).

Then again, the banlist was quite a popular suggestion at the time, and people mostly seemed happy to trial it. But BJSC was a very different kettle of fish back then. I expect there really would have been riots if the veto process that we have now had been implemented midway through 2009. It's certainly a fairer, more logical and much more scientific system of course, but it would have wiped out about half of all of the songs in the contest in 2009, whereas the banlist only made about about 4 or 5 songs a month ineligible to send, most of which wouldn't have been confirmed by anyone anyway. (Not that I'm sticking up for the banlist, it really was an awful idea but at the time it made a lot more sense than it does now due to different eras and it looked tame compared to some of the alternative rule change proposals around at the time).

Voted! Will try not to leave it so late in future.
So if we're doing the collective vote blob thing for the last day voters, will their actual votes that they sent be revealed after the fact or will they just be lost in the void?
they will be revealed in the spreadsheet I imagine?
